Forgot just how good this movie is. This was one of the first movies that scared the hell outa me. Even 32 years later it holds up, altho the Hi Tech computers remind me of Pong and Space Invaders.

I remember when that movie came out for the first time on the big screen. I was about 14 then. It was one of the best big screen movies I had seen up to that time. I watched it in Huntsville, AL where my brother worked for NASA...and that made the movie even more believable, because he thought it was good too!!!
It probably gave the NASA people something to think about, because they don't know what's out there, and take things like that seriously.

The beliveability of the whole thing is what really scared me back then. I was in the 4th grade and just starting to get a serious grasp of science...it looked real enough to me.

Makes you kinda wonder if there is a place like that in existence...where they test suspicious objects that survive the re-entry to Earth.
Who knows, that may be why satellites are never recovered in space and allowed to burn up when their orbit decays.

I'll go out on a limb and say my favorite TV sci-fi series is the original Outer Limits .:D
In black and white, and viewed on a black and white Zenith tv set that is approximately 30 years old.

Ah, The Andromeda Strain is one hell of a great movie! I'm waiting for it to arrive on DVD but in the meantime I'll stick to my video-from-TV tape! :)
-
Wan't the andromeda strain an early Michael Crichton book (pre Jurassic Park and the rest)?
Or am I thinking of someone else
I might just go and look it up
-
Yeah bounder, I belive it was his first novel.
Outer Limits was pretty freaky for it's time, I always preferred it to Twilight Zone.
-
Great film. Btw, it *was* out on DVD already, I remember seeing it at Best Buy a couple of years ago. Not sure if it's still in print, though.

Ah, although I can play Region 1 DVDs, I'm waiting for the Region 2 version. No doubt that if it's out on Region 1 it'll soon be out on Region 2!
