So Bush used the Navy for politcal gain. Spending A MILLION DOLLARS of tax payer money for a campain photo op, right?
Well good ole Sen. Patrick Leahy beat the President to the punch posing in front of an F-16 in a flightsuit.
Where's the outrage on the democrat side about ONE OF THEIR OWN stuping to such a low! I demand a full investigation
Honestly, there are democrats here that I respect. How can you stand having such blatant hypocrites "fighting" for your views?

I wonder how much it cost to send John Glenn back into space?

One campaign finance hearing. That was a sad moment in our nation's history. One of my biggest hero's used to cover up the illegal spending of clinton/gore. Lost 90% of my respect for john glenn when he did that....

look at it from glenn's perspective.
The chance to go into space AGAIN after so many years.
Id jump at it, no matter what it did to my image or my career (heck at his age his career dont matter, hes got retirement secured.. and image? bah! only for 60 years then people wont care what he did in his old age, what he did in his earlier years overshadows anything!).

NASA needed a geriatric test subject... I can't think of a better one than John Glenn can you?
His flight had nothing to do with promoting the Democratic party! Maybe promoting NASA, but the Dems? C'mon!

LBJ Hit the Flight Deck Long Before Bush Did
All those Democrats attacking President Bush for landing on the deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln seem to have forgotten that one of their own, President Lyndon Johnson, beat Bush to the punch by more than 35 years.
LBJ not only landed on a carrier deck, but even sent the ship to sea just so he could make a widely publicized carrier deck landing.
According to Rear Adm. Stephen Pietropaoli, the Navy's chief spokesman, LBJ ordered the USS Constellation to leave port in San Diego and head out to sea so he could take a helicopter ride to the ship and land in its flight deck. Like Bush, he spent the night aboard, mingled with the crew and made a speech.
That done, the ship went back to San Diego, having given LBJ the publicity platform he sought. Adm. Pietropaoli told USA Today: "The next day it [the carrier] returned to port."
By contrast, the ship upon which Bush landed, the Lincoln, was already at sea and heading for port when President Bush flew out to greet the returning warriors.
Bush wasn't alone in visiting a warship already at sea, either. According to Adm. Pietropaoli, over the years presidents, members of Congress and Cabinet secretaries have all visited Navy ships.
But Democrats, frantic to find any issue at all, to use against President Bush, ignore the facts and the precedent set by fellow Democrat Lyndon Johnson.

*sigh*
Bush is a hoser. So's Leahy.
Dosen't matter which party a hoser comes from.
Hosers will be hosers.

Hmmm... I think the big expense was keeping the carrier nearby.
The flights were comparatively cheap.
