why doesnt it work. ??

It works for me.
Be more specific with your problem please.

yeah, I can't make soup of this either...

when I shut down an engine to conserve fuel in the p38 you have to resellect the other running engine to be able to operate the throttle, then if I restart the eng. I shut down it seems I cant regain throttle control of both engs. using ****f 1 or 2, i've tried shift 3 but that just diselects both engines. What ends up happening is one eng. idles and the other I will have throttle control over. Maybe I just need to stop drinking beer and "flying" at the same time.
-
no, you need a dual throttle stick. :)
-
lol IOI, It works for me just hitting shift e (or was it cntrl?)
do you actually shut down an engine to safe fuel??? :p
-
it does save fuel to turn off 1 engine while cruising. The 38 will hold 300mph with 1 engine just as long as you dont manouver.

Yes, I know that. But isn't it a bit drastic to cruise on one engine?
never saw anyone do that

not in AH regular furball arena.
But when you get into escorting 25k bombers over long distances, you climb up and fly on 1 engine along with the buffs. When cons near you turn the other one up and RUMBLE.
Also good when trying to get home with low fuel.

Does it actually use less fuel for the speed attained to run one engine at a higher manifold pressure than to run two at lower MP and lower RPM?
