Speeding tickets suck. :)

I got me 5 over last 3 month for 5-10 km to fast
It's just a way to screw civilians and enrich the gouvernment.

86 MPH in a 70 zone. They wrote me for 10 over ($76 ticket) rather than 16 over ($121 ticket) because of my overwhelming charm. :D First ticket in 20 years, only my 2nd speeding ticket in 27 years of driving.

Guess I must have one of those faces.....
I was doing 55mph in a 40mph zone (ok, so it was past the front of Gloucestershire Police Headquarters), I never saw the cop car until he turned the siren on about a foot away from my back tyre.....at which point I almost fell off.
Got charged with Dangerous Driving (max penalty a 3000 pound fine and 12 months in prison at the time).
Talked em down to a 80 pound fine for speeding cos the court agreed the copper kinda over-reacted to my over-reaction over the use of the siren. :D

Funny thing is about my ticket...that 86 mph is just when the car starts feeling good. I was doing 100 earlier on the day. :D

Here comes a nice story ... (think I told this before somewhere) ... I was
driving down a Monatana-highway at 80mph where the speed-limit was 55mph, you
got it ... blue and red flashing lights on my tail. The officer asked my
drivers-license and was kinda stupefied when he saw what I produced. "Please
step over to my car pls"
There he said "Now there's a speed-limit of 55mph here and you were going at
80mph".
"Indeed" I said, immediately landing on all fours like a cat "I wasn't going
slower than 55 so what is the problem?". The reasoning behind it is that there
used to be signs then in Belgium along highways which said "70 km/h" indicating
the minimum-speed.
I explained this to the officer, even showed a small notebook I had with me
with the signs explained in 4 languages (incl. English).
He sat there looking at me and obviously thinking "Are you bull****ting me or
is this the truth?", but he bought it. Then he called in via radio and changed
the code he just reported. Instead of a $50 speeding-ticket and $5 for every
mile above it he gave me $12 for an imaginary failed brake-light and
appologetically said that since he called in he had to fine me for something
and this was the lowest he could do.
I still remember him saying "Is that OK with you?".

We also have "minimum speed" signs, which is why our speed limit signs say "Speed Limit" at the top. I would have given him the speeding ticket. :)

Yeah, bet they do great against the Laser that all the State patrol use in this state. ;)
Either way, I can't justify it. I rarely go on long road trips and almost never do 5 mph posted speed limit, except on this windy deserted country road near my house.;)

Speed driving in the US ==> Buahahahahaha last time I drove there I felt like I had only granmas driving around me :D
We're moving back to a 130 kph on the highways here soon. You can top it a little, as long as you're not under the influence of alcohool... then they get nasty.

The good thing about laser is that they can't use it while moving. It's hard to defeat if they have a stationary trap though.
Fortunately it's rare in California and most of the US.

LOL. That would be an interesting arguement. I would like to see what a judge would say.
Ohio law states that "Minimum speed limits are posted on controlled-access highways". So I guess you could argue that you thought that the "Speed Limit" sign that you saw referred to the minimum speed limit.
Of course, the State could argue that your arguement gets trumped by "It is unlawful to drive at a speed exceeding 65 MPH on designated highways...".

Yeah, this was stationary laser, unmarked patrol car on the bridge overpass, just beyond 4 state troopers awaiting with open arms. They probably paid for the state budget that day (Mothers day to boot!)
I've been told only the state patrol has it (Lazer) and only a percentage are converted over...

Anyone else now have Officers/Deputies/Troopers with the LED lightbars on the cruisers instead of the huge traditional lightbars? Those guys are really tough to pick out at a distance. Even when they are behind you it just looks like a roof rack.

Hey don't feel bad Rip...Williams-BMW F1 driver Juan Montoya lost his license a couple of days ago for doing 204kph (126mph) in a 130kph (80mph) zone!
BTW, went to the BMW "Drive for the Cure" thing here locally and drove the 760Li as well as a couple of other Bimmers. WOW! The 760Li was way better than I expected for a whale. That thing will scoot and handles pretty well given its supertanker size. The electronic toys were pretty annoying though. It must have an owners manual the size of a dictionary...I wonder if there is an "iDRIVE for Dummies" available. LOL The next day I saw in the paper where some Finance Minister somewhere in the world was trapped in his car for a while because the on-board computer died, which controlled the door locks. My first thought was of the 7-series and sure enough it was a Bimmer...iDRIVE strikes back!

Had my license suspended from getting so many speeding tickets.
Got one for doing 115MPH in a 50MPH zone. Was given two tickets- one for reckless and for doing 65 over... went to court and presented my case to the judge, he knocked it down 70 in a 50 zone and took away the reckless.
He must have one gorgeous wife and had great sex that morning, only way I can figure he cut me so much slack.
