SETUP NOTES
PLEASE NOTE:  Fleet hardness is again reduced this week, to 4K.
Knights will begin setup with all bases WEST of sector 9.
Bishops will begin setup with all bases EAST of that point, beginning in sector 10.

For playability reasons, the P-47 and P-38 will be enabled at bases beginning at sector 12 and all the way east.
N1K2J will be enabled at bases beginning in sector 8 and westward.
TBM was added to attempt, for playability, to somewhat balance the offensive punch for both sides.
Allied front line bases  (A4 and A5) will have F4U-1, TBM, A-20G enabled.
Japanese front line bases (A9, A10, A30) will have all planes MINUS N1K2J.

Had to wait til I got my new Nomex suit in from FedEx.  Darn thing is itchy!  :p
Adjustments and tweaks will be made as needed to the arena settings, HOWEVER........no planes will be added or deleted.
This is a chance for everyone who has been clammering for a Mid-to-Late war Pac setup to have a little fun, so..........ENJOY ALL!

maybe this one will be better than the last pacific one.  I can't stand 2 sector flights to find a fight.

cool ,

be interesting to see how the a6m2 fairs aginst the p38 and p47 already does well aginst the navy planes represented here.
Should be a good challenging week for us a6m2 pilots.:)

Plane that causes the most consternation on part of allies to me is the F6F5.  Those hellkitties hurt.  I'd much rather go up against the Corsairs.  P-38's will definately make it interesting.  Average P-38 drivers will die quick against IJN, but the good ones will create havock, here's to hoping they stay in the MA.

someone has to be CT-snobbish and ask:

what exactly does this setup represent?

"what exactly does this setup represent?"

Nothing, and everything.

If one wanted to try and fit the planeset into a specific time period, I guess mid-to-late 1944 would work.
Terrain was selected to try and include as many variables without getting overly complicated.
Have fun, Shane.

Howdy Eddie.

Nice setup. I would suggest only enabling the carrier fleets, C3 and C8.. The support fleets get in the way.

(Hope to see Hungary at least once more before I leave AH in June)
Title: Thought of that, 10Bears
Post by: eddiek on May 14, 2003, 01:53:57 PM
Brady and I will be setting the terrain up early Friday morning.
I had suggested in the CT staff forum that I wanted to steer players toward less vulching (i.e. camp the CV right offshore) and more toward getting in, hitting hard, and then getting out before someone took the fleet out.
The support fleets, with destroyers, will be placed in rook hands and out of play.
I will have the cruiser fleets enabled though, as I know some players like the sea battles.

I want everyone to have fun, and am trying to offer a setup that we haven't seen in a long time.

Can I take off the flameproof Nomex now?  ;)   Please?  It itches really bad!  :D

NO! Don't take the flamesuit off, dude!  I'm telling you, it's a trap! They're just trying to put you off your guard, then WAHMO!  Mr. Zippo comes out and lights you up!  Hehe, seriously, sounds good to me.

The Japanese had recieved their evaluation tiger by mid-late 44..I think in all fairness they should have it here.

This'll be the same as the Sicily setup, with the sides reversed.  Axis will be 95% N1K2, Allies will be about 60% P38 with the remaining 40% split between the F6F and F4U.

Neh ... there'll be TBM and A-20 drivers on the Allied side and Ki-67 and captured TBM drivers on the Axis side. Or were you just talkin' fighters? :)

I'll wager yas that Keyapaha and crew won't be flying just Niks ... others prolly feel the same. `Course, you know how I feel about me Hog ... badly as I flail around in it. :D

Fun fight last night your 202 and my Spit IX on the deck. I was kinda proud of it until I heard that good 202 drivers and less-than-mediocre Spittie IX drivers make for a good fight. ;)

Arlo, you flew very well.  You didn't make any dumb mistakes, and the few shots you did give me I couldn't land enough rounds to damage you.  I'd say you are a pretty good Spit IX pilot.

Thanks! Now if only I could become a decent Hog driver. I love it but I'll be damned if I can't stop trying to fly it like a Spit! (Even though I *know* better) :D

Cool I always love a chance to fly the A6M5. Looks like as decent of PTO setup as you can make , and the Slot map should make the battles easier to find.
Oh yeah meant to ask............... We Japs get the TBM?  What plane is that representing?

Trying to represent the Judy or the Jill.
Without at least that plane, the Japanese aren't gonna have the bomb weight to hit hard at bases.

I am snowed under with models for an upcoming model contest but...I will DEFINITELY make time for this week.  I will take any chance I can get to fly the P38 against the IJN.

With a sky full of P-38s and Jugs, A6M2 drivers are gonna feel like squirrels crossing an interstate.

Better grab an N1K2 or Ki-61 instead.

My regards,

Had to wait til I got my new Nomex suit in from FedEx. Darn thing is itchy!
I have three and hate them, They are very hot when flying at 800 feet agl and 95 deg cockpit temp :-(

Anyway, my observations tonight for some 6 hours!!

I saw as many N1K2Js as Ki-61s. A6M5s when CVs in area. One or two A6M2s.

Endless Ki-67s, a few Jap TBMs, absolutely not the first Kate or Val.

Basicly same on allied fighters. Equal F4Us, P-47s and P-38s.
Not the first A-20, TBM or SBD. F6Fs when operating from CVs, which ended about 8pm eastern.

Most fight was at allied A-40. Once the allies where kept low, the IJN/A ruled. No chance to get airborne with the slow P-38, F4U and P-47s.

IJN was kept just off the coast. Act is deadly so IJN was able to depart and grab alt under this protection while allies departed in thier slow climbing, less defended bases.

IJN/A did most of the attacking, thus thier losses. Allied losses mostly due to low, slow fighting as well as Ki-67s and fleet act.

Just my observations!

Oh, is there a reason the Allies have no formation bombers available?  No Bostons or B-26s?  I can understand limiting 17s, they are so much in terms of Bombload, but surely twin engine formations would be OK?  It forces all allied Bomb runs into DB attacks.  Usually in CT we can expect once a night or so a massive Allied Buff raid.  I always look forward to warding of "The Raid".

I think eddick was thinking that the allies had a prety big ordance advantage as it was, and dident want to further add  to it. TBM's have bomb sight's.
Title: Brady is close.........
Post by: eddiek on May 20, 2003, 04:03:37 PM
By 1944 a sizeable portion of the USAAF bombers had switched to low level raids.
In lieu of having a solid nose B-25, such as the 345th "Air Apaches" used, I decided to use the A-20G.  They were used in the Pacific, and I thought they would round out the US planeset pretty nicely.

Plus...........the US side DOES have a lot of ordnance capability.  Adding the B-26 or even the Boston would tilt that part of the equation too far, and I did want to play it "safe".

Too true, the Jabos the US used had such a massive advantage.
