Title: Empty Gun made a good point...
Post by: 2Hawks on May 14, 2003, 07:04:41 PM
In an earlier post Empty Gun madfe a good point, one that I would like to see an official answer to and would like Trolls to please fill with useless posts. I pay 14.95 a Month and would consider myself to be a customer who would like a little light shed on things. If only to say tell us the team at HTC is still alive.

EmptyGuns POst is copied here for anyone who would like to read:

Whats going on?
I have noticed in the past few months alot of un-rest here. Lots of ppl frustrated with the lack of info from HTC, about AH2. Lets get it clear, I am not flaming anyone, or bashing anyone. I am simply pointing out what I have saw.
I can understand if HTC is busy, I have my own business to, and I know how it can be. There is so much that comes with that fed tax id number. I can understand how much work it is to upgrade somthing. To offer somthing better, and hopefully keep ppl walking though the doors. In there case logging on.
That being said, if I say "I am going to add two more ranges" (being that I own an indoor pistol range) and one of my customers asks "so how are those two ranges comming along?" I should give that customer an anwser.
No, I dont have to, but if I keep saying this, that, and the other is getting done, yet I have nothing to show for it. My customers may start to question my business practices. So much so they my move on to a bigger better gun range due to the lack of intrest in my older smaller range. Add on the fact I said there would be an upgrade and yet I have nothing to show for it, and ppl will get frustrated.
I love this game, its great. Hell I dont need a whole new game, just a few more planes, and I will be happy for quite awhile. However I think HTC has a an oblagation to its customers. We are what keeps things flowing there. So you are in the customer service business, and part of that is anwsering to your customers request's.

Not to be trolling with a useless post but that there button labeled *edit* would've fixed the foist post. :)

(example of an edit)

I was gonna say "why start a whole new thread quoting the other thread when it's at the top of the pile?" but I suppose you wanted to shoot for a "Furious-free" one. Good luck! :D

It seems difficult to have a disscussion regarding the future of the game and where HTC is taking it.  If anyone dares ask when, what, or how a group of thugs jumps on them with a few patent responses, e.g. "adult video game adicts are not worthy of updates,"  or the STFU.  That being said, I hope that HTC would give us an update, or even some news about the direction he is taking the game--arcade, FPS, or sim.  We are customers paying not insignificant amounts of money--we deserve better treatment.

Another reason I felt Empty Guns Post so important is my own experience trying to get ahold of the Crew @ HTC HQ.

I have been trying to ask questions related to another matter entirly and have gotten noresponse. Not so much as an auto responder.  Have they gone off to war? To Vacation? Is the office having problems?

As a programmer I can understand the irritant that  communication can be in any form. It wouldn't take but a few minutes to be honest with their constituents regarding not so much as the progress of the new release, but just to let us know they are still alive and in business.

Or more importantly, to reassure us our most favorite addiction won't dissapear. Is there a legal battle between Warbirds (Hitechs previous employer since Dawn of Aces) and HTC? Have they been ordered to keep silent about it?

Inquiring minds want to know, cause all the other Games SUCK! Including the disgustingly Go-Kart attempt at Air Combat that WarBirds presents.

There is one sure way to get HTC to talk, but it is a very difficult mission.

You want HTC to change their customer relations policies?

Do you want HTC to realize the importance of customer satisfaction?

Then don't pay your bill.

Thats right cancel your account and send them a letter letting them know why you are cancelling. Can you beat the urges and AH withdrawls long enough? I know I can't. That is the only way for you to show HTC how important it is to you to be shown some appreciation as a customer.

Yeah thats a good post but ...

Superfly gave us a "bone" ... see the post "I'd like to buy a vowel please..."

This is one response from that post ...

"SUPERFLY, very cool

suggestion have the aircraft be in the correct size ratio to the hanger, that would be awesome."

So typical ...

I am in the software development business also, and it is reponses like this that have prompted our business to not be very forthcoming with what we are working on while we are working on it.

I forget what site it was, but both HiTech and Pyro were interviewed and explained, as much as they wanted to get out to the public, what the future of Aces High will be and what to expect in the next version. Is that not enough ?

You and I are paying $14.95/month for exactly what we signed up for ... to play the game ... nothing more ... nothing less ... that $14.95 does not get us on the board of directors of HTC, it does not get us on the HTC requirements team, nor does it require HTC to shed any more light on the matter than what has already been shed. So your expectations for the measly .50/day is way above what I expect.

Don't get me wrong .. I too would enjoy seeing some more information forthcoming, but I DO NOT expect it, nor do I DEMAND it. I think the foot-stomping attitude is the wrong approach ... it would be for me ... you would be hard pressed to get any info out of me with that type of attitude.

HI!!

Look, I don't care if you ask for information. Information is good.

Stomping your foot, whining, threatening to quit, or casting negative aspersions, though, is lame.  I like to laugh at lame things.

have fun.

I agree that there should at the very least, an updated FAQ that was promised a couple of months ago but as for HT and crew to respond to every question or demand, that's just silly.

If HT and crew took the time to answer each and everyone of your demands...err questions, there would be no development of AH2.  As someone that works in the same industry, while it's valuable to keep the masses informed, it also takes away valuable time that is needed else where.  And with a company as small at HTC, not only is their time valuable but also the manpower.

It takes 5 minutes to make a post once a week and I am pretty confident there is at least ONE person that is not involved with the programming of the game at all that could be told what to report.

I Programm in the job I have, but also am required to make contact with the customers, which takes time from the top project I am working on. But If I don't take care of my customers, someone else will.

One post a week would reassure many ppl here that work is indeed progressing or not. We are a mostly tech savvy or at least savvy enough with this technology that we might just understand some of the challenges that HTC is facing. Maybe even understanding enough to relate and offer some assistance in some way.  Like maybe make a phone call once a week or month and write a report, make a Faq Etc. Etc. Etc.

Just my $.02. I am pretty sure they are working their butts off, It's just nice to hear a word now and then from the celebrities

Well, just my opinion.

I would guess the HTC team is working their tulips off. It is hard to plan something that is never done before (like a new sim). Besides, the only obligation they have to their customers is to deliver what the customers pay for, and IMO they are doing that like no other online game.

Relax, be happy :)
