I see alot off pilots getting alot of kills in any type of plane!I have been flying since AOL had AirWarrior free. The most i've ever landed has been 4 with an F4U1D. WTF am I doing wrong? My scores in AH have been repectful @ 400. Help!!!

Select fights, don't get draged into 'em. Thats all you can do
oh, and be a alt monkey.
-
You do well in a 1-dee, you do terrible in a 51 just as I do.
I've sworn off 51's. I just plain die.
Concentrate on your 1-dee, put sometime in it and work it. You already have a handle on it. Pick your fights, make her shine.
And when you've figured that out, let me in on it.

Hope this film helps..

Landing multiple kill missions is easy after you've played for a few months to get the hang of things. For many, it's a matter of being in the right place at the right time. Hey, I bet landing 4 in a 1-D is harder than landing 6 in a p51D...so maybe you're not that far off. Pick the fights with plenty of targets, get in there and get dirty.

Vulch :D

for some reason, the F4Us are very tasty.
-
only F4U worth flying is the F4U1C. Spiral climb over CV to about 10k (depending on alt of cons) and BnZ to your hearts content. My personal best in it is 23 kills 1 sortie no rearm, had sorties of 20, 17, lots of 14/13. Its a great plane if you use it right!

i actually find the 1d more efficient, you can shoot at bigger ranges and take harder deflection shots, plus i do belive that the 1C as a slower roll rate
just my 2cents
-
Situational Awareness is paramount for that.
Diving into a cloud of cons will get you kills..but you wont land them.
Staying in the edges of the furball, preferably with a lot of alt advantage, and attacking those on the edge of the furball, will get you kills...and you will land them just as long as you stay outside the furball.

If you are fighting in the 1-D the most, you want to plan your attack with a safe egress so that you can regain altitude. With altitude you will get your speed back ... very important inorder to stay alive in an F4U.
You can dive in on a target, and turn fight with the 1-D, but too much turning will eventually burn off a lot of speed and at that point you are in deep do-do. If you have gotten to this point and the fight has brought you closer to other fights and/or multiple bogeys, who have altitude, then chances are you will die. This is true for all planes, but the 1-D can't out acclerate a lot of planes.
Watch for enemy planes breaking away from the crowd, manuver so that your attack run is in the opposite direction of the battle and then dive in. If you miss, or turning is going to get you the kill, then extend and start the process over again.
Have you tried the -1 ... great fighting plane. It tends to keep is E better than the -1D and from my perspective, climbs better. If your main objective is to JABO first, fight second, then the -1 only carries one 1K bomb.

Maybe, but the C-Hog's 964 rounds of hispano are much harder hitting than the 50 cals. I find the chog probably the best a/c for snapshots, about equal with the Hurricane IIC for my personal flying. The most important thing is to keep it fast though.
Snapshops in the chog are so lethal because it only needs a couple of pings to bring the enemy down.
And i can shoot up to 1.4/1.3k in Chog on HO (which i try to avoid like the plague) and GV's/PT's, it has as good range as the .50's -you just gotta shoot more accurately!

yep, if you get to your base healthy, you can "rearm" by stopping on the rearm pad near the end of the runway; 30 second later your have fuel and ammo and are ready to roll! Finding a good vulch gold mine helps, or playing the edge of a furball (hey, this sounds like fishing talk!). the d hog has ALOT of ammo and can land many kills even without rearm, so you should be able to tweek your convergence and your flying style to nail many more guys. Hog is best flown with plenty of E so always alt it more so than turnfighters.
Oh, and hey, 51's work great! just wish it had hog's ammo loadout :(

Load Rockets and launch them at a pack of cons upping from runway at same time. :D

Well I dont get 100+ kills per sortie but Im consistant with landing my kills or returning from each mission. Heres some thoughts...
Got to always have a plan before you take off. While on the ramp or even before, start planning.
Always fly your plan within its envelop. Use its advantages to the fullest. Attack your preys disadvantages. Easy right... Everyone knows that.
Your gunnery skills must be good. If you have average gunnery skills, you must be a fantastic acrobatic flyer. If you gunnery is exceptional, you can get away with less fancy flying. Some guys are fantastic shooters and flyers.
Know how you will probably get killed or who is gona kill you out there. Part of "situational awareness" but also part of the plan before you roll the ramp. The better planned mission, the more obvious it is how you might die or who might kill you. See above, plan well.
Always know when its time to return to base. Every vector you take must have a egress vector in case you get into unexpected trouble. An escape route. Knowing when to RTB is the secret to coming home alive from each mission.
Thats about it.
Oops, you need to bring alot of gas. Usually it takes a while.
-
I frequently land 7-10 kills w/ one pony clip...there are other planes with more ammo.... so ya don't need a re-arm to get your 5,6,9 kill runs. :)

talking about hispano snap shots
give the tempest a ride, i find it to be the best snap shooter for me
since i usually come with high speed the closure rate is very high so more dammage is inficted and allso... its a friggin 4 hispano's :)

fly in CT
8,9, 10 kill sorties the norm there :)

Using the P38 more now last night on Trinity I had 4 sorties in a row averaging 3-4 kills plus assists each sortie and I had still had well over 1000 turbolaser shots left.
Best sortie ever though was Yak9t vs cv planes had 4 a2a kills with 5 shots. 1 was hit twice. A warp monkey in an lvt ruined it though with his "lucky" connect from hell took 18 shots to kill him out of 22 and of course he gets my radiator on 2nd pass.

1 Thing I havent seen talked about is get a good wingie to help you out of any jams you may encounter best way to land multi kill sorties.
-
Hyflyer...
It's actually pretty simple, all you need to do is follow the herd...there are always morons like me that will up to defend capped bases...simply fly in areas where your on the heavy side #'s wise. Even better with a squad...or a wingie. You wont be any better...and in time will get worse but you'll "score" better.
However,
There are a couple things you can do to increase your success without changing your habits...
1) work on 3 planes...a T&Ber, a B&Zer and a JABO ride and stick to those three...then pick the plane based on the enviornment your going to be in.
2) vary your loadout...since I fly niggit I'm usually outnumbered. I'll take 25% fuel and a drop tank if I'm only going 1 sector sometimes...in a -1 hog 25% goes along way...also know your ride..again -1 HOG handles much better with the wing tanks burned. You want to arrive at the fight at a "combat" weight...other option is to load more internal fuel but burn it on climb out...same range...but you can shed the externals when you need...also play with ammo load outs on planes with options.
3) Circle field one or twice to gain alt...thats 1-2k over guy who climbs out straight from base and meets you in the middle...also wep on out and let engine cool back down after you hit 5-7k...wep doesnt help you once your dead...or the other guys 5k over you.
