Funny this came up...

When I was donw in the Bahamas last week, every time someone would mention an island, I would remember it from my old Pirates! map on the C-64.

I D/Led an emulator and played it on the PC a while back. Still great fun!

Yeah, ive been waiting that one for ten years! Its just unbelivable, that it took so long. Shooting 40 black bowder cannons to another wooden ship, now thats a BATTLE!:o

I hope they enable three things:

1.  Multi-Player capability (mixed in with some easy AI merchants etc)

2.  Multi-ship battles

3.  A cool dueling engine with real sword fighting tactics being employed.  The old game basically was a fast button pushing exercise.

The old method of sword fighting was pretty weak. Once you had it mastered, it was hard to lose.

God I have the urge to play this game now!

Used to play it a hell of alot on the Amiga 500. It was such a brilliantly thought out little game, as games often were back then. Any website for the game yet?

Check out this game too:

Pirates of the Carribean (http://pirates.bethsoft.com/main.html)

I read that the Fencing will be in an 3D engine... Perhaps it will an full scale brawn instead of djust you vs the commander...

Pirates online was an good idea! that could work out really well! i like the idea the more i think about it :)

I've played a lot of really crummy pirate games since Pirates.  All of them sucked.

That Pirates of the Caribean game used to be called Sea Dogs II, now its copyrighted by disney?! We'll they screwed the ride all to hell a few years ago. That sounds like fun a pirate game under the control of disney.
