0-60 4.9
Vett 4.7
Look its an estate:eek:
-
is it possible to drive a vette, (any year) and not have people think you have a small noodle?
-
Vette lovers should take a look at Jeremey Clarksons 'At full throttle' shows a vette with a very big twin turbocharged v8 try to go round corners fast its very funny. :)
Also it has a £25,000 Ford capri waste a £250,000 Brabus Mercedes. And Big Dub a twin engined vw golf, saw it last weekend at GTI international, fast as fudge!
-
that cant be right swoopy! these yanks have been telling me vette's will outcorner anything all day!!!
u dirty liar! ;)
-
oh big dub:)

Swoopy, Z06 Vette will do 1g on the skidpad. If Clarkson couldn't get one to corner then he's not much of a driver.
-
im not saying anything, just watch it its funny
-
BS!!!!!!!!
One disappointment, however, is the Vette's skidpad performance. The track was slick that day, but .79 g is not much better than we've run in a Volkswagen Passat.

I don't think it's the car you drive Hawk... it might be those tight pants that reveal your shortcomings. ;)
-
NO vette will do 1g.... when its spinning out of control into a ditch :)
-
I think it was "dream machines" where Jeremy Clarkson puts a brick on a vette's accelerator pedal, lets it go off into the desert and then chases it down in a helicopter with miniguns on the wing stubs and blows it up, u seen it swoopy?
He also plays conkers with Yugo's using cranes, runs one over and shoots it with a chieftan tank!
-
lol yeah seen that, best thing u can do with em :)
-
Swoopy you're sadly mistaken.. Even some of the c4's were approaching 1g on the skid pad. The twin turbo you mention was probably a calloway vette and it had different weight distribution than standard vettes. I looked up the numbers on your RS4. Sorry buddy, even my '86 will chew that thing up and leave it as roadkill. Now a friend of mine is having an RS6 delivered to him(supposed to be quite rare and hot) in July and we have a date planned at PIR to go a couple roundies.(He knows some fellers at Bondurant) I'll probably wax his butt too...but only because he'll be afraid to get his new baby dirty.
:)

What are you trying to say?:D
-
46.4 mph through the slolam. Thats slow. So is 50. whatever for the Viper and Turbo. The vette must be knocking down cones just to keep up. LOL. I think these cars are just too heavy. Dam that Porsche has gotten heavy through the years, weighs as much as the Viper and Vette now.

Sorry, they're most likely going to think that no matter what you drive.

"The vette must be knocking down cones just to keep up."
When is the last time you drove a 'vette?
-
Actually I've never driven a vette.
:)
-
Hehehehehe, well then, you wouldn't really know about those cones then eh? If ya ever visit the valley of the blazing hot sun, we'll fix that.
-
Steve, u aint seen an RS6 in action then have u think ull wax it, ull have a tough time, it will leave u standing on the twisties too. Its a great piece of kit.

Vettes seem to win pretty regularly in the ALMS GTS categories.
Might be fun to see that Audi in a Speed Channel World Challenge race against the Mercedes, BMWs, Mazdas, and Acuras.
-
Having seen a RS4 in action at Texas Motor Speedway I can say it's a beast! On the the twisty track (inside the TMS oval) you could hear the turbos spin up from a hundred feet away, everyone stopped and watched the RS4 when they heard the turbos.
The owner of the RS4 purchased the car in Mexico City and drove it up to Texas for the Audi Quattro Challange. I have pics of the car, I got to sit in it and I had dinner with the owner. The RS4 Recaro seats are awesome.
I'd bet my money on the RS4 vs a C5 (no mods) Z06 vs RS4 would be a good match and the RS6 vs Z06 would be very close.
I wish the RS4 didn't cost so much or I'd probably have one, the wife feel in love with it when she saw it.
I still like the Vette's, I always have and someday I might own one.
-
You're right.. I haven't seen the RS6 in action. What I've read about is says it's ok in sweeping corners but a bit heavy in sharp turns. Unfortunately the track we will be on is not a road course, it's an oval where the raw horsepower of the RS6 may win the day. OTOH my 'vette is much lighter(and I dropped the 385 Z06 crate motor in it last year) than the RS6 and I'm hoping that is the difference. Let's face it, even if I'm faster than my buddies RS6, do I want to beat him in his new machine? Not really, it's a dream car for him and it will be his day. I'm just there to make it more fun. After we go a few roundies, we're gonna switch vehicles. I don't know much about his car but it sounds like a lot of car. :)
-
Ohh!! How much does the RS6 go for? My buddy isn't talking about that.
-
there £58,000 over here

lol Steve. Hey when you get back from Portland International Raceway, post some pictures. Sounds like you might have a vette?
-
Yes, I have a 'vette. :)
I'd like a Z06 but it is more than I can reasonably afford.
I have an '86 that I dropped the original 385 HP z06 motor in. I think the new Z06 Lt's are 405 HP. I had a picture of my 'vette on the boards in another thread but when I went there, the picture was gone. Mine has the new crate motor, different tranny, and stereo, otherwise it's a stock '86. Even when I repainted it, had it done in same factory color. Sorry for the confusion but it is Phoenix International Raceway. I'm sure my friend Eric will have someone taking pictures.... he's an Audi fanatic and from what I'm told the RS6 is a limited run production model. I truly don't know a lot about them. I loaned my truck to my brother in law earlier in the week so drove the 'vette for a day and coincidently met Eric for lunch...and thus the conversation about who would get around the track the fastest commenced. I read a blurb that the RS6 has a speed limiter on it at 155..if this is true, my 'vette will definitely be faster...but like I said... it's his day.. he's going to win. :)
-
ill stick with my 81 subaru hatchback...it might be slow and ugly but it gets me where i need to go and is comfotable...good utility vehicle if you dont need a truck but need something bigger than a normal car
-
Heeheh, ya.. having a 'vette only would be impractical...have a p/u plus my 'vette... wife drives a Saturn... a Saturn.. geez... she picked it out.
I think I found how to post a pic... or at least the link.(this is before new paint)How the heck are people still posting pics here?? I don't get it.

Well... anyone could come in here and post a pic of.. "This car...."
we were sort of talking about cars we own....I could go cut and paste a ferrari...but what's the point?
-
G, I rode in a 500 series last week... thought it wasa great car... leather interior in yours?
-
Steve, very nice Vette!
I'm not rich and can't affored the pricey stuff. I do have a 1982 280ZX which I enjoy. It's really fun in the San Diego summer with the t-tops off. It isn't the fastest thing around and some of you have some very nice cars. I rarely drive it though and so it is low miles for its age and just last week I found out the battery is dead. It's also time for some new paint too. My normal drive is a Honda Accord though.

Nissan R-34 Skyline GTR (japan only, not exported to USA) + Aftermarket performance parts will out perform any american sports cars out there (including the Corvette LOL).
who says Japs can't create sports cars???

This car's price tag is similar to that of Corvete C5 if you were to convert the Japanese Yen to US dollar. Skyline GTR is also 4 wheel drive and it can still out perform the Corvette at dirt:D
-
Ike do you own an R34? And how do you know what cars it will out-perform??
-
The R-34's horsepower can be increased with HKS turbocharger, HKS intercooler and ect as high as 400 to 1000HP.
-
yeah theres some insanly tuned skylines in the uk 1010hp last i heard. Dont like new r-34 tho prefer r-32's and earlier models.
i have M5 as 5.8 to 60, but hey whats a second :)
-
lol I guess the answer is "no"
-
topgear magazine here says 5.8
u seen the new gts version of the beamer, race spec road edition soon to be hiting the streets
-
