He-162A-2, Hendon

A contemporary of the Gloster Meteor and Me-262, the He-162 Salamander was a last ditch Luftwaffe effort to intercept B-17s.  First flight in Dec. 1944.  Had a jet mounted on plywood wings!   Was designed to be produced quickly and flown by Hitler Youth.

I wouldn't mind seeing a couple of more jets introduced, like the Meteor or the He-162.

It should be interesting, at least :)

Very high acceleration, agile and good climb, ok weaponry, good gun platform. Just very short range.  It would give a late war prop fighter a hard fight, as the few combats IRL showed.

Not that its appearance is any likely, though.

Realistically though, would the He-162A pose a threat in the MA?  Correct answer: No.  It may get a few surprise kills, but you can bet your britches that everyone is going to be HOing or vulching the 162 just like we do now with the 262.

Bombers already have enough to contend with from the 262 and 163 you're only thinking of the fighter part of the sim.

Since when has that been the "bar" for which vehicles and aircraft are introduced into the arena?

*ahem* Ostwind  ;)

Not everyone.  Some of us actually took some time to learn some BFM/ACM so we won't have to resort to dweeb like behaviours.

he prolly meant the 162 pilots would hesitate unlike the zen focused HOers in non perks who have only one directive hard wired at that moment.

Dicta Boelcke

6. If your opponent dives on you, do not try to evade his onslaught, but fly to meet it.

Theres some ACM for ya.  I've HOed 262s 3 times and come out the winner.

Just trying to emphasize that the 162 would not be a super-plane.
