Okay, you know what. This sucks. According to "3q of 2003" Ah2 is just months away. But there is no news.
Other companies are all over the place a year before a game comes out. I was reading about some E3 games at IGN.com and I learned that there were games that were going to come out in 2005 and the development team was completely spilling the beans on what the game is going to be like. The reason why they are doing this is to create hype. When you create hype about a game, usually more people buy it.
So why isn't HTC doing this? Don't they want people to learn how cool the game is so they get it Right as it comes out? Because of the lack of news, I am losing interest in AH2. That is the opposite of what most companies, like EA games and such are doing.
I find it quite odd...it seems like HTC is having problems or something:( Anyone think maybe HTC is having trouble with the new engine?
I just wanted to say that.
-
What do you mean?
They have provided a screenshot.
-
What is a screenshot gonna do for you? You havent paid up front for an unseen, untested product.
Looking at pic 2 months before the release date wont accomplish anything.
Do you think the stuff has to be paraded out for your approval?
Because of the lack of news, I am losing interest in AH2.
You know how stupid that sounds?
"If you dont hold my hand and constantly reassure me that everythings gonna be alright then I'll be left on my own to come up with all sorts of kooky conspiracy theories about how terrible it will be"
How is your loosing interest in a project thats months away from being completed relevant?
Who cares if you you have lost interest. As soon as it released you'll be back.
Wheres my screenshots whaaaaaaaaaaa........
-
What's a screenshot going to do?
You better bet I WILL now track LOMAC to it's completion, look foward to it, buy it in advance, and track it's progress because I know what they are up too.
It ain't hurting their staff or game. They have 5 minutes a day to capture and post I guess.
Whaaaaaaaaaa.
-
Wow, what game is that? Who makes it? Where can I get it?
-
other wow nice screenshot who cares?
lomac will be game that you pay for AH2 will be a free download for you to eval. If it sux delete it. You only pay 15 bucs if you keep a sub.
So a lomac screenshot might get you to buy the box but are telling me if HT doesnt put out a screenshot you wont try the free dl?
The reason maddox puts out the weekly updates at fb is he needs to keep folks happy because it has a direct impact on sales.
When HT charges 50$ bucs for AH2 they I'll want to see a screenshot before I buy it. Being free who cares???
fyi theres a bunch of lomac films out as well.
-
Batz, boozonics have merit, we have most all been there.
Whats in the hell is your excuse?
-

we gonna fly jets in AH2 .... hahah... so if we r just wonderin CAN WE HAVE A KC-135 ????
-
and if by way of screen shot posted you mean the one of the hanger.. then that is an absolutly pathetic shot..the current hanger is better... looks like a childs drawing..:)

Hi guys. I'm new to this forum. I play AH for 2 years and i love it, but i do not agree with this. I have the "Forgotten Battles" since it came out and trust me is the BEST WW2 flight sim ever. Yes it is not free, but 39$ is the price for 2 months subscribtion at AH. For me 14$/month is not free and i think that Acess High players do not cross the line if they ask for a screen shot.
-
Ouch I'm late for "Tidal Wave"
-
Theres 10 active threads with same nonsense Creampuff. As if a screenshot will do anything. Look at Slapsnots reply in regards to the "new hanger". Folks are bored with the current main. No screenshot will cure that.
Ofcourse I would like to see the new stuff but overall it makes no difference what so ever.
JAWS2003 read what I wrote there bud. AH is s free download. If you download it and dont like the art you havent lost anything. You dont have to subscribe to dl it or play it h2h.
If you buy a box game for 50 bucks with out seeing a screenshot and get home and its crap you are out he cost of the game. Most folks arent gonna rush out by something site unseen. With box games the eyecandy is part of the advertisement so its necessary to "wow" folks into buying it.
This thread is entitled
HTC in compared to other companys...
You compare apples and oranges and demand your apple taste more like the orange.
AH2 will be there to download when ever its done. Whether HT posts 100 screenshots or 0 most of us will download it and check it out.
-
Huh?
Dude, minus is at least entertaining, your approach to being incomprehensible, is boring to say the least.
Shuddup already.
-
Why can't HTC just post updates like other companies do?
It shouldnt be so hard, after all it only takes like 5 mins of the day at the end of the week to attach an image with a "look here kiddies, this is what we have this week" etc.
Bats, you are being rediculous.
Active marketing, and showing your progression of development feed people. Customers like being updated on what is happening and they look forward to what lie in store for the future.
This is common sense bats, It should not escape you this easily.
-
HT isnt selling the "game" hes selling the game play. That cant be captured in a screenshot.
Giving existing subscribers a screenshot of a plane due to be released 2 months away means nothing. It may make you feel good but it doesnt do much else.
You will look and say "wow nice pic" and head back to the main. AH's best marketing comes from the free download and free 2 week eval with no cc info.
Creamo feel free to keep groveling for your elusive screenshot. But it doesnt matter if ht posts one or not you will dl AH2 anyway.
-
i not say i will not look at screenshots with pleasure
but fully agree with Batz

I just wanted to say that.
To 'spread the hype' as you describe would probably require resources that's not available to HTC. Granted, I would like to see that updated FAQ that was promised over a month ago.
Ack-Ack
-
Both sides have a point here.
Yes, HTC could benefit by releasing a screenie or 2 every month or throw a few bones when they are bored in the office. They could benefit because it may attract new players and keep old ones longer.
And then again, there's also a reason why not to release screens or hype material; and thats due to giving players information which they believe as "official this-is-gonna-be-in-game" announcement but which is really a 'work in progress this may not be in game but we are trying to put it in and make it work' announcement.
Just look how badly CRS in WW2OL have it in their forums and in the image of their game and company. They say every month they going to do this and that...and they dont. Been a YEAR and they are still promising stuff they cant put into the game. Many players are very pissed off at being lied at. Myself included.
HTC has one thing all those other hype spewing, screenshot releasing companies dont have: A track record of a game that is solid and workable with very little bugs or issues (except having only one model of P-38! ;) ). In short, RELIABILITY.
EA reliable? NO.
Microsoft reliable? Hell no
Ubisoft? HAHAHA
CRS? they wish!
So in conclusion, HTC should get off their arses and put the P-38J and F in AH! :D :D ;)
-
well, quit complaining and leave already then. :p
you know you'll come running when info is released, or at the very least when the DL is released.
Actually, I'd suspect that HTC knows exactly what they are doing. Anything "released" in development gets taken as "gospel" or worse, as a "promise" from the developers. Customers absolutely freak out when told something in development and then the developers decide to change it, or worse, drop it from the project. Why show something now that will almost assuredly change? That screenshot was a joke more than anything else, and people are taking it as that's what the final product is going to be (sans superfly and nate of course.)
Combine this with the fact that Pyro said they're (wait, lemme go look up the quote first...) mostly doing core level development. Prolly means a lot of number crunching, so the graphics engine isn't anywhere near complete. Means a screenshot right now would be extremely pre-mature, especially the way you guys would take it as being the final product.
-
I don't agree. One goes hand in hand with the other.
How much did you pay to dl AH? nothing.
Is not seeing a screenshot gonna stop anyone here from downloading and eval'ing ah2 when comes out? Not likely.
So what would a screenshot accomplish? Besides the "wow look at that screenshot"? Yyou still have to wait atleast 2 months before its ready. Will time move faster? Will AH2 flop because a few tards demand that their hands be held and comforted with "look here...... everything will be alright?"
Quit being a bunch of babies. Have you ever thought maybe HT is waiting until the con to release some goodies? Or maybe they are still working through some things?
The whole "gimme screenshot" is just stupid. You arent box game and ah2 will cost you nothing to try out.
-
"Look at Slapsnots reply in regards to the "new hanger". "
Come one Batz ... gimme a break here ... :D

Forget the screenshot, how about an updated FAQ, as promised over a month ago?
What about a general update just to let us know whats going on in Grapevine?
How much time and effort could this possibly take?
The problem with the scenario you posted, Batz, is that if enough time goes by without some news, FAQ, Screenshot, some of us may not be here to D/L AHII. We may move onto other things and become engrossed in that. Does HTC want to risk losing market share due to the lack of a paragraph of news a month?
Personally, I'm considering other games at this time. Why don't I play them? Too much time invested in learning AH. Now what happens when I reach a point of AH burnout, and I do try another game? Suppose I get throughly engrossed in that and don't want to come back to AH, even after the release of AHII.
Whats that mean to HTC? Well, $15.00 a month less, and one less guy promoting their product to his friends.
*shrugs*

Right on, Nifty! :) Everyone should quit whining and let HTC get on with the job in hand. Every minute spent in here giving updates is a minute less working on the actual product. I'm sure most people here have experienced trying to work on something while others are fussing and twittering behind them, demanding to know what progress has been made and when it will be complete - I know I have, and it's very frustrating! Give em a break, guys.... let HTC concentrate on making the best game around! :D

How long did it take you to write that paragraph?
Did your career suffer? Did your husband and children go without dinner?
In the same amount of time it took you to post that, HT could render this whole debate mute.
-
I can wait for the finished product. I don't need the EA/AW "two weeks" crap.
I am certain HTC will do it right and we will all enjoy it. If you don't then perhaps it is time to look elsewhere.
-
Look at it this way. HTC is a small company. They don't have the resources for a full time professional marketing and PR staff, and the comunity relations aspect can be a bit rough around the edges at times. However, if HTC were a bigger company, say an EA, then we would likely be looking forward to some BF 1942 game. It's where the money is, especially after the console port. Good, light, arcadish FPS style warfare that you can just fire up and jump right in. It can be a lot of fun, but I don't mind having more options than those dicated by accountants and marketing tools pushing for the least common denominator :) Pitching a relatively complex WW2 flight sim/combat sim doesn't make it past the bean counters.
I appreciate the fact that a small group of enthusiasts are making a quality product for a relatively limited market of like-minded enthusiasts. I'm willing to overlook the rough edges and wait for the payoff, and so far HTC has delivered. If something comes along that does it better, or they trash my acquired loyalty the way EA did with AW, then I'll go somewhere else in a heart beat. But I'll give them the benefit of the doubt until that time comes.
BTW, I've seen a lot of screen shots for Harpoon 4, AW 4, Duke Nukem *2* (or whatever the various names have been over the years) -- it would have been better to see tha actual games released :)

Look at it this way.
They had time to post stickies on the o'Club board to tell us to be more civil.
Skuzzy has some time to somewhat control and lock/delete inappropraite threads.
Pyro had a chance to post the first AHII FAQ back in January.
I understand they are a small operation, but we're not asking for much here.
I've lived this before. Ultima online was my main addiction for 2 years. It got old. I tried AW, then AH and found my new addiction. UO has had several updates, and new releases since I left. I never looked back because I lost interest in did not want to work to relearn it. Now Star Wars Galaxies is on the way. I'm going to try it. If it delivers the goods, I may not be around to try AHII.
To date, I think HTC did a great job on the game. Their customer support is still the best I've ever seen. But the lack of news is starting to tarnish my image of the company.
-
My opinon is that HTC never really existed.
We paying for a big undercover CIAFBIUSARMYNAVY secretabsolutlyconfidentialsu perimportendprojekt called "They have oil near Paris" Hurry :)

Idle threats muck thats all they are.......
Pyro answered btw. If you mean it then go tell him thats unexceptable and that because he didnt provide a screenshot in a timely manner, as deemed by you, that you wont be bothered to dl AH2.

Idle threats...sure, EA thought the same thing when the FUBARed UO. Take a look at their client base compared to 2 years ago. If you don't meet your customers needs, you will lose them. Plain and simple. Its the same rule for any business. If I'm not calling my clients, you can bet you bottom dollar, someone else is. And if they can deliver, I'll lose my clients to them. Ask anyone who runs a business.
Read the posts again, Batz.
There may come a time when I'm burned out by AH, will try something else, and may not return. Whats so hard to understand?
I read Pyro's reply. I could care less about screenshots. You seem to have missed that. His simple response as to what is going on is more than enough to satisfy me at this time. Though I did not understand what he was saying, I appreciate the fact that HTC continues to believe that customer satisfaction is important.
Thank you, Pyro.
-
Thats different AW sucked and last time I had checked in to it before it closed it was either free or like 4.99 a month.
The way I heard it wasnt lack of screenshots that killed aw but was the lack developement.
No screenshot of AH2 doesnt mean no AH2.
You guys keep comparing apples to oranges until ya find a match. If lack of developement screenshots are enough to make you not dl ah2 when its released I say BS.
Nothing HT does in regards to screenshots will make ah2 get done any faster.
Pyro answered you in another thread. Go tell him thats its bs and if he doesnt produce a screenshot of AH2 you will quit ah and never ever dl ah2.
Or how about this. Let them release what they have when its ready. Ofcourse everyone would like to see a pic or read a faq or have some type of update. But overall as long as work continues the only thing that will ever mean anything will be when its done.
-
lol
Though I did not understand what he was saying, I appreciate the fact that HTC continues to believe that customer satisfaction is important.
So he just hits random letters on his keyboard to satisfy you.
You gotta know how stupid that sounds.
Throw me a bone and I'll be a good dog.
So you are satisfied? lol

Batz-
I am trying very hard not to turn this into another oh so famous AH BBS Flame fest.
Read my posts. Please. Who said ANYTHING ABOUT AIR WARRIOR!!!
I said EA Fubared UO..as in Ultima Online!!!
Jesus, take the pom-poms away and Frickin read!
Now, I don't know jack about programming. Sound stupid? Guess what.... most folks here don't.
I want to know what stage of development the AHII is at. I know that now, because I READ PYROS REPLY.
I wish I could say the same about your reading of mine.
Now, if you want to continue this idiotic diatribe, please do so, but rest assured, you'll get no reply from me as I have exhausted my patience and obviously wasted my time with you.
Please feel free to cut and paste any one of my comments, and send them off to HTC. I'm sure it will break their hearts. Thank god guys like you are looking out for them!
-
all of you sound the same someone mentioned ea and aw. It doesnt matter who.
-
Guys,
I've been following Hitech and Pyros sims since about 1995.
Can I give you a bit of background that may help you?
It is my experience that for whatever personal reasons, they dont tell people what there doing until it is released.
I say this from experierience as I remember what they were like back in the old days of Warbirds 1...2 and the first version of the 3D engine.
People were jumping up and down just to get a sentence of news out of them or a screenshot. :D
These days I know better and just shut up and wait ;)
- - - - - - - - -
So dudes. Just wait and the new version will be released regardless of what the lack of news indicates.
FWIW, WB2-3D rocked when it came out. Prior to its release all we got was 4 screenshots.
I remember when RETNUH and I poished off a carton of beer. Was a great nite for testing out my new 3d card.
- - - - - - - - -
Its just the way it is , as I see it.
-
I'm just waiting for the important thing about AHII...
the in-flight pr0n browser :D

Amen Brother Nifty!
Even if HTC posted a screenshot certain masses would find something dealing the screenshot to squeak about anyways. Some people are never happy regardless of what you do for them.
I have never been disappointed with any type of development of the game done by HTC. I just enjoy flying and fighting on the computer. I mean, hell, I paid $15 a month to fly in a damn good sim. I dont believe paying $15 gives me the right to demand anything dealing with the future updates of Aces High. I am paying for the game already developed. Hopefully, HTC will give us data only when they believe it is ready.
If I was to believe that my paying my monthly subscription alloted me the right to know what is going on in game developement and I was not getting satisifaction, I would spend my money elsewhere. For the sole reason that I would not be getting "my money's worth". But I do not feel that way so when I get back I will sign up again regardless if AH2 is on it's way out or not. AH2 will be nice but, it is not my reason for wanting to fly the sim.
I fly the sim for the same reason I have flown it since October of 1999. It's for the game I can sign on to and take to the virtual skies. Not some promise of a future update that I believe might make my life better.
Have A Nice Day :)
Swag

Right On Swag!
It never ceases to amaze me how some guys think that paying 15bucks gives them the right to tell HTC how to run *their* business.
Remember you pay your 15bucks for the current version of AH. Thats HTC's only obligation to you, to provide that service. Nothing else. Like flossy said, a half baked screenshot would only serve to give the wrong impression of the game.
So stop whinin and let the HTC get on with writin code instead of trying to please people who just have no patience.
-
Sideways up your pie hole?
The mental image is staggering....
Either way, well said. Not the words I would have chosen but...
Meanwhile, I think HTC should be glad they have such a rabid customer base thats so interested in what they are up to.
In my business, clients calling, asking questions is always a good thing. It's when they're not calling and asking questions that you have to worry.

This is also turning into the stupidest thread...ever
-
I take Pyro's word for it when he says that there are too many placeholders/dummies to make a good screenshot now. HT is prolly neck deep in programming the FM/3d engine mods, and Pyro is likewise busy making new models. When AH2 nears completion it will all come together and I'm sure they'll hit "print screen" for us a couple of times too.

Now that you mention it, screenshots were shown of the next major update of AW which was in development - like this one for instance:

or this one:

Just goes to show, even screenshots don't mean you will ever see the finished product! :D Personally, I trust HTC to come up with the goods..... :)
-
If the screenshots are not ready to be shown than we would be pleased at least to read some info about how the development is going. Is it going well, slowly, bad? There is almost more than 3 months from last word about AH II development. It`s pretty long time. Isn`t it so hard to write a few words, is it?
-
Pyro write last day about work on FM
ramzey
-
okay, okay.
I never did think about that it does cost something to give us a new screenshot every month.
Besides, Pyro seems to have noticed all these complaints such as mine and has replied/posted about two things that will be added to AH2. This all I ask. A little bait.
-
How do i inseart a picture here??? I tried the IMG button but no success???
-
First you need to save your picture to a website - if you don't have your own website, look in the General Discussions Forum for Saintaw's service - then, when you click the IMG button, copy and paste the link of your photo into the window which appears at the top left, and OK it. Then submit your message and the image will appear. :)

What if...it just doesent look all that different? What do we expect to see after all, some new buildings ect, Sounds to me like most of the changes are not in the Eye candi aspect but in the how it works aspect.
So if they did show us somthing we might just go man...what a let down, But if we could hope in and go for a spin we would be wowedm but they cant post a shot of that.

At least, I hope to have fully scalable graphic detail, just as any other sim in the market since the 90's.
