Salute!
In case you missed the tank vs tank scenario today, here's a short roundup of the events.
Knight's spawn point was NW one of field 38. Rooks spawned from SW of 39.
Each side had 15 participants in frame 1, 13 in frame 2.
In frame 1 knights split into 2 tank strike groups, group one led by Ripsnort, group two led by me. We decided to pincer the enemy by having group 1 head west and group 2 head east and turn north simultaneosly. The tactic proved to be successful, especially group 1 scored an unbelievable number of kills, Ripsnort alone destroyed 7 enemy tanks and M16s. The frame was a decisive victory for the knights who ended up with 7 tanks left.
In frame 2 Knights kept their tactic, but this time Rooks didn't allow us to pincer them again, instead they headed to base 14 and entrenched themselves. When the knight formation came in range the Rook's tactic was proven a success as the knights were quickly loosing tanks (the first knight tank that was destroyed was driven by me... *coughcough*). Nevertheless the knights fought bravely and destroyed 9 rook tanks and M16s before the last knight tank driven by Azreal was destroyed. The frame was won by the Rooks who ended up with 4 vehicles left.
thanks from Ghosth and me to all who participated, we never organized a scenario like this and we hope it was enjoyable for everyone.
<Salute!>

Sounds fun...is there any plan for another tank scenario?

Hats off to Redwing without who's help and assistance and ready good humor this would not have been possible.
I personally would love to run this one again with a couple of small changes.
A F14 as a neutral field, with the objective being capture.
B !.03 changes to ground warfare being in place.
I think it would be a whole nuther battle!
Salute to the skill & cooperation of all who helped make this happen. I for one got 1 kill each frame before dieing & had a blast!
Especial mention needs to go to Ricken, who's artfull scouting in a M16 gave us some much needed data on enemy movement & strengths.

I'm not much of a tank driver. At all. This scenario was probably only my 3rd time in one. Nevertheless, I've come to look forward to Sunday's events, and I was definatitely looking forward to being involved in a purely tank battle.
The second frame was a lot more successful for me than the first... but that's a boring story. Here's what happened to me on the first frame today.
Rooks split into 2 groups. Ghosth led the main group, while Caveman led the 2nd group - composed of just Cave, Downtown, Mino and myself. It was the objective of this second group to flank the Knit tanks.
While the main group headed south, our group made for a more SE heading, hoping to get in behind the Knits and catch them off guard. We climbed a hill and observed the valley from a long ridgeline - where we expected the fighting to take place. We didn't see much of anything.
Two of our guys were in M16's, using that vehicle's speed to act as scouts. Finally they made contact, coordinates were shouted out, and Cave ordered us to begin moving... east, just below the ridgeline so as not to be spotted as we jockeyed for a flanking position.
By this time the main groups met, and the battle had commenced. Kill messages began to flow quickly up the text buffer.
Cave found a good spot from which to dig in. We were east of the main groups, lined up abreast on the ridge, hull down. The stealth, the suspense... man I was drinking this up. We were finally about to engage.
But... I ran into a bit of difficulty. Coming to a stop, I realized that I didn't have a clear LOS to the fight. I would need to inch up closer. Instead of throwing it into first gear immediately, I had started the engine while in neutral. Backwards I crept... and crept...
I was now picking up some serious momentum. Frantically I tried to get the gears to respond... cut the engine... No dice. What was once a beautiful formation (We were JUST NOW about to open fire!) was rapidly turning into indestinguishable dots on my screen, as I careened backwards full tilt down the hill.
Ok... Just a gentle turn and I can slow this thing... I'll nudge it horizontal then slow myself by steering to the side, then back right up the hill. Seemed like a good idea. One slight sideways motion on my stick, my treads dig in, and I find myself in a flat out uncntrolled roll. Bouncing and flipping down the hillside, I come to a stop inverted at the bottom. I can only imagine what that looked like to the guys I was with.
I've got a lot to learn about these tanks.
Heck of alotta fun tho... and I'd do another one of these inna second. <S> to Ghosth, Redwing and alla the guys who were there.

I scouted for the Rooks in both frames, and I have videos of at least frame 2 (ignore any tracers aimed at the referee Goon from my M-16, those are just hallucinations caused by sitting too close to your monitor (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)). I'll zip em up and post them when i get home from work (in about 6 hours) if anyone's interested.

You could have stopped by pulling back on the joystick to apply brakes, even while in reverse or careening down a hill in neutral.
Hans, still waiting for a good screenshot.

below are links to 3 screenshots that I think are worth being posted.
Tank Group 1 (http://www.reddragons.de/aceshigh/images/tankgroup1.jpg)
This screeshot shows tank group 1 at the end of frame 1, I'm not sure who was driving this last rook tank, but I think it was Hangtime (correct me if i'm wrong).
Tank Group 2 (http://www.reddragons.de/aceshigh/images/tankgroup2.jpg)
This is tank group 2 just after the beginning of frame 2 heading east, in the background you see tank group 1 heading west, preparing to pincer the Rooks.
Ranging the Rooks (http://www.reddragons.de/aceshigh/images/ranging.jpg)
This is another screenshot taken in frame 2, it shows the Rook's entrenching at A14 and the knight's attempts to range them. I kept trying to range the bunch of tanks around the tower, I got pretty close but as soon as we got into icon range we were nothing but target drones...

OK, here are my videos of the event, from my perspective as a scout for the Rooks. Hope you get some enjoyment out of them, the best/funniest parts are after the 'end' of frame 2 when people start goofing off (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif).

Great screen shots Redwing! Last shot, the tank you see just to the right of the control tower is me. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Due to the extreme amount of interest that this has recieved both before & after the event. We will try to schedule it again as soon as possible after 1.03 is released.
However, FYI, there are a other events on the books waiting for 1.03 & the terrain editor.
Looks like the SEA could get HOT!
I do have a few questions.
A Is a pure tank vs tank battle prefered over a capture type battle?
Redwing & I had discussed setting up to capture 14, but due to lack of anyone with CM priv's we were unable to do so.
B If we did go for a capture type event, should we both attempt capture on a nuetrel base? Or instead attempt capture on each others base?
