Aces High Bulletin Board

Let me put it this way:
Here's my idea of AH Utopia:
Perks across the board for all planes.
Limited numbers of A/C upping from any field at a time
Required to Go through an AC start up sequence, taxi, get clearance, takeoff. Manual fuel managemnet, no autopilot, etc.
Translation, the closer to flying the real thing the better. The more strategy required the better. The more teamwork necessary, the better.
First person shooters ALA quake just don't interest me.
So AH is my game of choice right now. Let's say AH did not exist. Is there anything close out there, to what I am looking for? Keep in mind, it has to be MMORPG.
Thanks for the advice.
(P.S. I'm not going anywhere. I've made too many friends in my squad to leave, but it might be fun to try something new.)

I'm only interested in WW2 era flight sims. My second choice would naturally be Warbirds.
-
Right now Im playing three games. In order of play time:
Day of Defeat
BF1942
AH
I really dont see an alternative to AH right now, so for my "shoot down people dweebier than me" fix, thats the place to be. I wouldnt ever go back to WB after the billing difficulties Ive had with them in the past.

I only play one game at a time. This year its been "Aces High" with a couple of laps of "NASCAR Racing 2003" and a custom paint job, but that's about it.
If it wasn't for "Aces High", I'd probably be doing "Silent Hunter: Commander's Edition" or "NASCAR Racing 2003" or one of the mods for "F1 2002" and F1 2003" from rsdg.net.
(Un)fortunately, I'm sharing the "main computer" (simply because its the more powerful of the 2 we have) with my wife, who is taking a Java programming class and has first priority. So, I exercise for an hour or so, then either read or work on my scale models for a bit, then either watch "History Channel" or one of my WW2 documentary DVDs.
Tonight I'm going to work on a 1/72 scale Panther by Revell Germany (excellent kit by the way, and cheap!) that I'm going to turn into the centerpiece of a diorama :) , and maybe muck around a bit with a 1/76 Jagdpanzer sold by Revell Germany as 1/72, but is really just a re-boxing of a 1/76 Matchbox kit with 1/72 scale figures that are too big.

Yep I too find myself playing DoD more than AH - love playing as british on jagd map. :)

What are these games, and where can I find them?
I have to agree with you about WB billing. If it were not for Sherry Miracle, they really would be down the crapper.

Same.

americas army would probably be it...

I've heard a lot about some MMOG called "Real Life." I don't know where to find it, though.
-
It's not so much of a second choice anymore with everything that's going on in AH right now, more of a joint 1st, that joint 1st is Warbirds III. Apart from that you'll find me tooling about occasionally in WW2OL and playing the odd FPS like BF1942 and more recently got back into playing CS. Offline I play F12002 and IL-2:FB and one of the Total War games.

I found that game... http://www.eagames.com/mmog/reallife The gameplay is subpar, its WAY too expensive, and its no fun unless you break the rules. Im thinking of canceling my subscription... but the graphics are soooo purdy.
Beatle - try these websites:
Battlefield 1942: http://www.battlefield1942.com This is a first person shooter with WWII weapons, tanks, vehicles, planes, etc. NO realism at all, but a hell of alot of fun.
Then go here - http://www.desertcombat.com This is a modification of BF1942 that you can run. The mod is argueablly better than the box game. Gulf War type weapons, tanks, planes, helicopters, etc. Again, not very realistic, but great for mindless fun. Cant beat the price - free.
If you have a copy of Half Life, go here: http://www.dayofdefeat.com
Its an old modification on an old engine, but what it lacks in graphics and effects it makes up for with the best team based first person shooter gameplay ever. If you dont have Half Life, you can always buy the retail verison of DoD which runs around $30 at most software stores.

AH is my 3rd or 4th choice right now. Scenarios rule though.
-
Nothing. You heard right. Nothing. No second choice. Nada.
-
I'd probably try WW2OL again if AH were not here. After all the billings snafu's over at iEN, I wouldn't go near Warbirds ever again.

". The mod is argueablly better than the box game. "
Gotta disagree. WW2 era over Desert Storm/Iraq War anyday. That mod is all one hit instantly kill. No fun. Pure tank Quake. I will take Market Garden map anyday.
The mod I'm looking forward to is. Forgotten Hope.

Download this teaser and be impressed.

If AH were gone I guess I would try WB, or WWIIO.
