Coffee is my life's blood.  I can't live without it.

When I was an undergraduate, one of my more worldly and caring professors attempted to persuade me to give up coffee because of the horrible, near-slavery working conditions under which coffee bean pickers operate.

I told him my daily coffee fix was worth enslaving people.

Chickory Coffee, actually the original cafe latte, is best, especially with the little fired pastries!

Coffee is good, but you must balance it carefully.  Too much coffee and you will become resistant to it.  It also makes you poop and pee alot.  I've limited myself to two mugs of coffee per day.  Makes me appreciate it more.

Sometimes before work (3rd shift) I drink too much coffee and I am shakey and jittery.  It does allow me to give 110% to my laborious job, but I can be a mess before we start-up.

On the campus at UMD, only place I've seen it, they sell this stuff made by the Jolt Cola company called "Jolt Chewing Gum"... two pieces of it somehow equal a cup of coffee caffiene wise.

My friend bought a pack, came with 8 pieces, and for ****s 'n giggles I chewed all 8 at the same time... within 15 minutes I was all sorts of smacked up on caffiene. To my friend I acted just like Beavis, "I am Cornholio! I need T.P. for my bunghole!"

lol, go to Cafe du Monde in New Orleans and tell them you just want the straight chickory coffee and they look at you funny.  ;)  Everyone is supposed to get cafe au lait with their beignets!  Screw that!  I don't want my coffee diluted with some frickin' steamed/frothed milk!

ok, check that, I do like a cappucino every once in awhile...  ;)   oh, and that frozen peanut butter/chocolate coffee like drink at the coffee shop my friend works at...  oh gosh, that's like a frickin' milkshake!  :D

One time, working the late shift as a dispatcher for a bus company as my college job, my roomate graciously offered to bring me a mocha to help keep me awake.  She always did nice things like that for me.  This time, though, about one half hour after I finished it, she asked me if I was feeling okay.  I said, "No that you mention it, I do feel a little strange..."  Turns out she ordered my mocha with four extra espresso shots!!

I still haven't rid myself of that damned annoying twitch in my right hand....

There is a bit of blood in my coffee system, I drink about 1.5 to 2 pots a day.

I agree that there is things worth fighting for, coffee is one. If anyone want to take over Costa Rica to start growing tea on the coffee farms, I am going to be the first to fight for the Tico's, and I will fight into the late hours of the night, just watch.

I LOVE the damn stuff ... nice and black and steaming...ahhh... got to go now coffee break .......ahhh yes  then a smoke

well there's coffee and then there's

Coffee:
Fill a 5 quart pot with 4 quarts of water throw in the shells of the four eggs that you will have for breakfast and bring it to a rolling boil. Poor in two cups hand ground medium roast beans and a half cup of chicory. Bring back to a simmer and and enjoy the smells that fill the kitchen while you finish breakfast. When nothing is floating, 30 minutes is about right, smirk at the cream and sugar, dip your cup and enjoy. If your a wuss strain it. If it takes more than one pot to get you through the day simmer it longer.

Boxboy, try cold coffee.

I dont mean "frappe" or "latte" or any other crap like that you gringos market ;)

Just make the coffee, 50% coffee 50% milk, 2 soupspoons of sugar and put it in the fridge.

I've found all my friends that hated coffee hated it because they would take it warm/hot or lukewarm (bleagh!) , but when cold its a very refreshing drink.

Now for my community service announcement: Buy Colombian Coffee . :D

I used to go to a coffee shop in Clackamas somewhere which served up what amounted to a 32 ounce cup filled with nothing but strait shots of espresso.  It took a while for them to brew that much espresso, but man, what a rush.  I ordered it a couple times, and both times I went through "phases".  Start off nice and jittery, kind rushed.  Typical caffeine effect.  Then a sort of panic set in.  It felt like I was going to die.  My emotions would be all jacked up.  It would get really scary, then I would end up in a real calm mood, not really able to think straight, but at the same time, not panicky or jittery anymore.  I would be like that the rest of the day.  Sort of in a poetry mood.

Drink itself cost about 13 bucks (as I recall, it's been about 5 or 6 years).  Definetely would do it again If I found a place that served it around where I live now.

Maybe you should give Kopi Luwak a shot. It's a full-bodied coffee experience with a hint of chocolate that's a taste bud treat. If it sounds like a tempting alternative, then you will probably want to start saving your pennies - this coffee's gonna cost you a bit.

Kopi Luwak goes through a pretty unique harvesting process that drives the cost of these beans through the roof. Coffee beans are actually the seed of a cherry-like fruit grown on islands like Java and Sumatra. An animal, much like the raccoon, called a Palm Civet, lives on these islands amongst the coffee trees. It is in these coffee plantations that the Palm Civet helps itself to the ripest cherries on the trees. Only the fruit gets digested and the Palm Civet later poops out the beans.

Plantation owners salvage the beans from the cat's feces. Only about 500 lbs (227 kg) of this tasty coffee is harvested each year, which means you're going to be paying an arm and a leg for a sip. A pound of this delicacy goes for as much as $300 US.

We used to come in at 6 in the morning and turn on the coffee pot with the coffee that remained from the swing shift the night before still in it.  We'd wait for the light to come on and then fill our cups and start a fresh pot (30 cup coffee maker).

Now... if the coffee has sat on the "Mr Coffee" hot plate for an hour, my wife will go to throw it out insisting it is "stewed".  I have no idea what that means.

Coffee is nasty and dehydrating. A cup with some Baileys once in a while on a cold weekend morning is ok. I prefer to start off my day with a quart of water and some Ripped Fuel :)

I try to say away from caffeine nowadys.  Once I was up pretty much up all night studying for two midterms the next day and others that week and was getting very little sleep. So in the morning I thought I'd drink a few Cokes/Pepsis to liven up a bit, and boy did I. During the second test that day, think calculus, my hands began to tremble, BP rose, I got the shakes and I really physically lost it for a few minutes. I calmed down after that and still got a 98% on that test - but ever since that experience I have tried to avoid caffeine whenever I could be in stressful situation.

As a matter of fact, I made it through two tests this morning with the help of one 'o them little yellow caffine-filled wonders.  Got a 100% and a 91%.  Of course, now I'm beginning to reason like Beetle and in another few hours I'll barely know my name, but that's OK.  Just need to make it until midnight, then the weekend starts.  Perhaps another pill...  :D
