Sandman, what is it you liberals want anyway.  You are worse than a nagging never satisfied wife!.   If there were to be another attack on American soil, you and your kind would be at the head of the line calling for Tom Ridge's execution for failure to protect your liberal butts from the terrible terrorist! If he tries to up the alert, you call it posturing for funding.  In fact, I would not be surprised to eventually find out that the NYT, or LAT had an article already for print that says the money Bush spent to land on the carrier could have prevented the next terrorist attack.

All I can say is thank goodness for the electoral college!

I think it best if you resist the urge to read too much into it. Don't worry, be happy. Go shop or something.

It is based on gathered and analyzed Intel from numerous sources. I am fortunate enough to have access to some of that in my line of work.

Its a lose-lose for the Government, either they try to do their best and warn us as best they can, or they don't warn us and everyone jumps them when an attack does happen.

I for one do pay attention, because I feel they wouldn't raise the alert without a cause, and that's more than I would know on my own.

It's not a game, the threat is real and I feel we are doing our best to keep everyone alert . What else do you suggest we do?

You think a color coded scheme that gives no details what-so-ever is "doing something" or fighting terrorism, or even going so far as to save lives?

It's at the High Level, any higher and its already happened or the specifics of where and when are already known- thusly those areas will be evacuated before the color bar gets upgraded.

Sorry Grun, but this fancy "threat indicator" is no more reliable than the local weather man for protecting you from severe weather.

Yeah the threat sure is real, everyone got a realisation to that fact 2 years ago.

If people weren't and aren't staying alert everyday of their lives from then on, to now, and into the future until terrorism of all forms has been eliminated- then they are dumb as a brick.

In reality theres only two stages: High Risk of Terrorism and No Risk of Terrorism.

It's pegged at the "High Risk of Terrorism" for now and the immediate future until terrorist cells are eliminated and terrorists wiped from the face of the earth.

Time to wake-up, we're fighting a war on terrorism and we just attacked a Middle Eastern country... we are so far from being in the clear, we're up to our eyes in it.

Even if the government puts the threat level at high, people are going to die unless they know the specifics of when and where- evidently they don't... but thanks for putting me on notice, right?!

You and I both know that if the government gave no warnings, everyone would complain. What do you suggest?

Too bad they're hollow warnings... when are cities like NYC going to see the money promised them for terror protection?  Damn Bush

it gives the dems a target to simplify their charges when an attack does happen:

"why was it only an orange alert, it should have been at red!"

What's the diff...either I'm gonna get killed by a terrorist or I'm not.  Prolly not, but if it happens I won't have much to worry about.
