Title: Flight Model Questions...
Post by: Terror on August 03, 2000, 10:25:00 AM
I just started Flight Training for my Private Pilots License and have a couple questions about the AH flight model...

I know Torque is modeled, but are P-Factor, Slip Stream Effect, and Gyroscopic Precession modeled?

Just wondering...
Terror

PS.  One other question...Are friendly collisions ever going to be modeled in the MA?

Of course, these responses are nice and all, but they DO NOT answer my questions.

hehe.  Anyone got any answers other than Torques chest is WAY undermodeled?

Do you need to use rudder on takeoff?

only if you want to live thru it (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I know P-Factor and Gyroscopic Precession are modelled but i am not sure Slip Stream Effect is.

IMO all but slipstream seem to be modelled.

Egads, I hope not. Imagine waiting for someone to take off, then go into your plane, only to have someone else reup right on top of you.

Would be bloody irritating. If this takeoff problem could be solved, it would be fun with friendly collisions on  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

RE: Friendly Collisions ON

Maybe have the spawning point move down the taxiway in order.
That way u would not appear "inside" another aircraft.
It would then, just be up to those on the runway to call out as they "roll".
And the rest to tazi to the runway in sequence.

collisions are a joke IMO
In the real world when 2 birds collide BOTH take damage, usually enough to knock'em both outta the sky.  In AH only the FE that sees the collision takes the hit and goes spiraling down.  And I dinnae think we have any birds there were modeled specifically for ramming other birds yet  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Regardless of the other factors, net lag makes friendly collissions very difficult to avoid in many circumstances.  What is a fingertip formation on my FE can be a collission on yours.  Not really workable IMHO.

Yes, torque, slipstream, and gyroscopic precession are all modeled.

Do you know why it is done this way and why it can't go both ways?

Hey Pyro,

Not pushing the issue here, but I'm interested why collision model is modeled this way. Can anyone explain to me? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
