People = cheap

don't they have dirt in China?

it's part of the training, if you don't qualify, you get to hold the target.

and right behind the red fence is a school yard.

Apparently the FBI HRT does something even more dangerous than that. While training for room entry assaults, each guy takes his turn being the one "live hostage" in the situation. This entails sitting in a chair while one of the other guys shoots up a "terrorist" target about a foot from the "hostage's" head. This is using live ammo, of course.

That's a confidence and trust building exercise for SRT team members.
This is just an example for another use for people, brought to you by the people who keep the human wave tactic in fashion .

The one in the back is much smarter... the way he's hiding behind the stick like that.

Story behind pic is that all soldiers in china are trained in how to be on receiving end of gunfire and how to stay calm, the shooter trades place with target holder on next pic
perhaps..
:D

Ah, the old "borscht is supposed to be cold" story. I'm betting most of the popup targets on their rifle ranges are also manually operated with the target holder protected in a trench or behind a berm or something . Not unlike the way the US did it 50 years ago .

dont laugh at that suave !!!
i remember when i did basic training in the navy in the early 90's we did it that way (course i gave one of my roommates a crappy score cause he never wanted to have a drink with the rest uf us idiots :D )
now they use that booring lazer/automatic system with no room for human "error" :D

Read Andy McNab's books and you'll see an even more impressive use of humans in live fire exercises. I have no idea if he is lying or not, but it's a hell of a story...
