Hi folks. :)
Thank you for reading my first post in Aces High.
I have just downloaded and installed AH. I must say, the download was easy and the installation was easy. Configuring it the way I wanted took only about 20 minutes. The programming effort that has gone into AH is immediately apparent. I really like the way it was possible to fly offline, and then to configure views and stick settings off line. On line, I had a weird video card problem (7fps) but after reboot I got that up to around 54fps. (also disabled virus checker and firewall) I use a MSW Prec. Pro (1) joystick, so I created another profile (.SW4 file) for Aces High.
The aircraft icons are easy to see. I love the graphics textures in AH, which make it more realistic and easier to judge distances.
I have a couple of questions – what is the command to display more than 4 lines of text buffer? The AH sounds are great, but are there any different engine sounds for individual planes?
That’s all for now. Some of you might recognise me from WB, and wonder why I’m here. All I will say for now is that I felt it was time to check out a different flight sim :D And I like what I see here.

go to the sounds forum - there are a bunch of different people who make sound packs for AH. I Mitsus right now and they add a whole new level of immersion.

I believe the tilde key (`) toggles the larger text box on and off.

Welcome Scrmbl! I'm grounded due to technical difficulties but I hope to see you "aloft" soon. :)
Wotan, the thread on AGW dissappeared but Scrmbl made it very clear he was NOT referring to the character of AH players or community.

Mitsu's Sound Page (http://www.ah.wakwak.com/~mitsu/244sentai/ah_sound.htm)

that wasnt the only time he referred to ah as such but its irrelevant

Well everyone has a right to make an bellybutton of themselves :) Welcome Scrmbl I'm sure you'll find alot of things are familiar here and although buffing is a little arcadey right now v1.09 promises to hold alot in store for us buff pilots.

Hi folks, thanks for the responses.
I have downloaded some of those sounds - really great! I like the fact that alt+tab works in AH; makes it SO much easier when you're trying to set things up. I have been configuring sounds and joystick settings, and it would have been a pain to have to keep quitting out of the game.
In this sim, I can actually SEE the target planes! Even out to 1000 yards. And I have configured a button on my base unit to Zoom - much easier than fumbling for Z.
So far, everything is looking good. I even got 6 kills last night. I was quite pleased because this was in spite of fumbling with settings etc.

Heya Scrmbl :D
About that stick you're using: I'm using similar stick as you do but I configure buttons in AH's stick setup and not in SideWinder software.
It helped me to get rid of some wierd things... And you can map keys in Online too.
