Doh, missed it.
Got some cool pictures from their Founder's Day open house, though.
Wish I could have made it to this, would like to have seen some of those planes.

I like the TBM in the Atlantic markings. Nice break from the three-tone or overall glossy sea blue schemes you see all the time.

Im from Waterford Mi. I was gonna come down with my girl friend but we were up way way too late on sunday night!
Who was the fly by?
I wanted to go Down town Detroit and watch the low level fly by down the river front. It was supposed to be the B17,P51,TBM, and a Korean war Jet (i forget what)
It would have been cool to see those things in Formation at 1500ft.

Thanks for sharing! :)

I agree. Its a nice change-up and really stands out in a crowd.
About that Privateer - is it static display or did it fly in for the event? Those things are ultra-rare.

Isnt the Privateer basically a B-24? The Lone Star Flight Museum in Galveston, TX has one in pieces in one of their hangars that they are in the process of restoring.

i was at work when it started and they did 2 fly-bys right over us at work! :D there was about 8-10 planes in a lose formation. i was some p-51s. some jap planes (not sure what ones) and i want to say p47's. i was in such aww i really didnt look at the planes that close. i was just excited to hear what it would have sounded like back then as a squad was flying!
the show as awsome, they had pilots from ww2 standing by there positions in the b17 and you could ask them questions, they also told some awsome stories! WW2 vets were all over the place and there stories were something else. Hearing stories from someone who was there is something i will never forget!
im also going to the aug air show air display 2003 (http://www.yankeeairmuseum.org/airdisplay/air_display.htm)
i'll post more pics in a second. want to down size them so its not such a load hog on this thread.

Its a B-24 with a single verticle stabilizer, basically a B-17 tail.

Ah yes... It was a great day to attend this airshow during the day, and later that night, attend the ballet at the Million Dollar Saloon, over the bridge. Good airshow, great ballet! ;)
