Ike, you need to upgrade that MoBoard and get a new processor. They are cheap right now. AK32A Socket A Motherboard Bundle
w/ AMD Athlon XP 1800+ is $119 at TigerDirect.com

it would work in the sense that it'd render images on your screen.

It would not work in the sense that you'd be able to see much of a frame rate increase on many games (save for maybe 5 year old games.)

I think I remember back when the GF3's first came out (mighta been GF4's) that Tom's Hardware did a benchmark run with several CPU's, including a 800mhz P-3.  On some games, the GF3 (or GF4, whenever this test was done) the 800mhz performed just as good as the faster processors.  On those games, the CPU was the bottleneck.  This was at least a year ago, if not 2 years.  So your 700mhz celery would definitely be the bottleneck on a machine with that new GF FX card.

definitely upgrade your CPU/Mobo before you purchase that vid card.   Otherwise, you're not making any use of your money spent.  :)

btw, there's a hardware/software forum here where you can get some good opinions on purchases.
