List 'em here along with what they did to you!
1- Aliens (1st movie) . Never in my life will I chase a cat in the dark. Alone. Matter of fact, fuk cats. :D
2- Critters III: The scene where the kid is sleeping on her bed with one arm hanging out of the bed a few inches from the floor... and they scroll the view down and there's the infant Critter jumping up trying to bite it. I now sleep in a Queen size bed.
3- ALIVE! : Always choose rearmost seat in airplanes. The fact that I met one of the guys that was in that crash makes it even worse.
4- The Excorcist: Kinda silly, but whenevers someone sick I pray they dont start puking all over. Especially on me.
5- NEO GENESIS EVANGELION : Funny, the only anime ever to affect me. The scene where Shinji was drowning inside the EVA cockpit really freaked me out. As a scuba diver that scene flashes a lot in my head. Brrr!
6- The Blob. Always, unconciously, I look at the ceiling of every movie theatre im in. Every 20 minutes.
-
Deliverance...
Too many reasons to list... LOL
-
JAWS: Ocean swimming Uh uh....
Deep Throat: Will any girl ever compare? :p
-
i had a girlfriend that had a thing against spiders.. then we saw Arachnaphobia.. she thought she'd be brave and sit thru it.. after that movie, I could just look up at the ceiling and widen my eyes and she would freak out and run out of the room..
-
Jaws wins for me... hands down.
MiniD
-
yep JAWS f***** me up bad ... saw that and pirahanna in the same year i think.
to this day i will NOT swim in water i cannot see & touch the bottom.
Ps. you could prolly add friday the 13th to the watter thing (Jason Vorhees coming out and getting the chick in the canoe)
-
3 already mentioned did a "number" on me.
Alive - (the book that they turned into a movie)
Jaws - (the movie)
The Exorcist - (the movie)
-
have to agree with 2 and 3 there Curval
first time I saw the excorcist I was a kid and couldn't sleep for **** afterwards.. keep looking at my chest to make sure no words were appearing or anything.. lol
-
I would add:
Slaughterhouse 5
and
Carrie (literally jumped out of my seat when that hand came out of the ground at the end)
-
lol..hey Toronto...why the probation?
-
poltergeist
I was maybe 5 when i saw that, the scene where the big toy clown drags the kid under the bed and tries to kill him freaked me out.
I still don't like clowns.
-
I'm so traumatized I can't even remember what movies made me like this!
-
Omen
Grey Lady Down - Drowning is my big "I don't want to die that way".
Which brings me to another story. My parents live in Yuma, AZ and I attended law school in San Fran. So during one drive back up to school I got "The Perfect Storm" on audio tape to listen to. As it got dark I was somewhere in the middle of California and the damn tape starts talking about what happens to a person when they drown. It took days for the hebbie jebbies to go away.
-
The Wizard of Oz... Them freekin flyin monkeys still give me nightmares
:D
-
You're all lilly livered pansies.......
:D
Well ok, an episode of Quantom Leap kinda freaked me out once.....the one in the pharoes tomb where at the end that bit part player was trying to get out of the tomb and a shrivelled and blackend hand reaches out from behind the camera and grabs his shoulder.
I still check behind me after turning off all the lights on the way to bed.

-
American History X where Ed Norton kicks the guy in the back of the head after the guy was laying in the street and Norton forced him to open his mouth and bite the curb. Freaked out just typing about it...
-
The Excorcist: Nuff said
Alien: I must have missed the cat scene in Aliens which was a different movie. ;)
The Dark: The old one (1979) with Keenan Wynn and William Devane. I worked in a complex that had the exact same type underground garage and elevator system as in the movie. Going to work at 4am (normally) was hard on the nerves for weeks. :D
-
The TV show Twin Peaks....freaked the hell out of me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
big white owls comint at you and then Bob...I was so scared every time it happened to watch an episode I probably blocked it out of my memory, I can only vaguely remember what the show was all about-just that agent Cooper came to investigate the death of that chick Laura Palmer.
someone please tell me they watched that show, and how it ends.
-
Never watched twin peaks. I do know that it didn't end... it was cancelled. They lost a majority of their fan base when it was leaked they were making the series up as they went along and there was no clear end.

-
NEON GENESIS EVANGELION - heh, if I was a girl, I'd never go to sleep with a guy named Shinji around, and definitely never go into a coma with him around. ;)
Jaws freaked me out for awhile as a kid. I got over it.
had nightmares from Nightmare on Elm Street for awhile in middle school. One dream REALLY freaked me out, because it was a damned double dream. I was dreaming I was dreaming with Freddy in it, and he sliced me with the knives. I "woke up" in the dream thinking "wow, it was just a dream" until I noticed blood everywhere in the bed, and felt the slices on my back. In the dream I screamed, and the next thing I know my mom was in my room waking me up. It's the only time I know for a fact I have yelped while sleeping. I don't think I slept soundly for a few days after that. I kept having dreams about it until finally in a dream I said "I'm tired of running, just kill me," and Freddy obliged. I woke up alive (obviously) and haven't had a dream about it in the 15 years since. Freaky.
I've dreamt about other scary movies, but those usually turn out to be fun. Like with Aliens. Almost always my dreams about the aliens from that series end up with me fighting them somehow. That's fun! :)
-
i totally forgot about the movie that scared me the most of all:
THE CAR
noone prolly knows it but it's about a demon possesed black car that goes around killing people. it mostly happened @ night and there would be a strong wind before it got you. it even drove / flew right through a woman's house so you weren't safe there
for years i would go to take out the garbage @ night and run my arse off the whole way in case the car was after me.
i still get the heebie jeebies @ night when it's real windy all of a sudden.
-
Oooo... one that had an impact too...
Duel

There was this one movie, messed me up bad..
Was like a desert combat armegeadon time era...
Back when I was like 7...
Had a dream I was in a tank and blew the heads of my brothers off.. woa..it was too realistic..
-
Its not really a "movie" but when I was 10 or so, there was a show, narrated by Orson Wells, about Nostrodamus. Naturally, it was gloom and doom and went into great detail about how dismal a future we have. I wasn't looking forward to several of the years they indicated "the end was coming"...much less the 3rd anti christ in a blue turban.
Name eludes me.
An Nostrodamus is fulla crap
-
Just gonna say the movie... you guys in the Northwest might know the scene:
Sometimes a Great Notion
-
I saw the Exorcist at the theater when I was 9. That was a ****ing bad decision. I was freaked out for over a year after. A 9 year old seeing a shrink about a damn movie is ****ing messed up.
We had just moved into a new house; Even today, some 28 years later the smell of fresh paints ****s with me head.
My favorite record at the time was a 45 I had of Elvis singing "Hound Dog" and "Don't be cruel"; these two songs still can raise the hairs on my neck
I had a bunk bed and had to sleep on the top bunk, to be further away from the devil. This combined with me already sleeping cross-legged so that Jaws couldn't jump up on the end of me bed and eat me like he did Quint, made for some long nites.
I had a chance to see it agian when it was re-released a few years ago, no ****ing way.

When he could no longer keep his love for SOB a secret and SOB got tired of filing restraining orders against him. SOB insisted we invite him in because he was "tired of pretending." Whatever that means.
-
The whole movie was just creepy as hell.
Poltergiest got me when I was a kid, freaked me out hardcore.
The first nightmare on elm street scared the hell out of me too...
Jaws, I still think about it when I swim in the ocean.
The entity, cause it was supposed to be true and it was creepy as hell.

is that where the guy is pinned under the log and the water is getting higher and his buddy is trying to keep him alive? that can be done actually, and for a long time as long as everyone keeps their composure. i must have seen than movie over thirty years ago and i recall that scene perfectly.
-
The Shining - little kids on Big Wheels, large vacant hotels, Jack Nicholson... damn movie freaked me out... "Danny, come play with us..."
The Thing (the Kurt Russel/John Carpenter remake) - man that movie had me running from large huskies for weeks, and that damn music... holy ****, talk about adding atmosphere...

You got it. Paul Newman and Richard Jeakle I believe. That drowning scene really stuck with me.. still does.
-
three big ones here. a really old movie called atlantis. about the city that the unenlightened dont believe in. :) inside joke. at the end a evil dude goes crazy with some kind of laser. monsters all over and the laser burning the helpless people of atlantis and the world is ending. scared the **** out of me when i was young. the last scene in prince of darkness. where the guy who i think was in rip tide cop show is having nightmares wakes up looks over in bed and his girl is there with no skin on her face. that made me jump first time i saw the movie. last one is scene in forest gump where they are on patrol in VN and gump says "and then the sun came out" i said "oh ****" out loud and then blam the gooks popped the ambush on forest gump and his buddies. when the light got brighter from clouds goin away and they all exposed i knew they were going to get pounded. great directing there. im sure there are some other guys that thought the same thing an instant before the ambush was sprung.
-
anonymous .. that "atlantis" movie...
was the big lazer melting everyone real big? and a woman told some dude to get out and sat on her throne and melted or something?
if so i been trying to find out WTF that was for like last 20 years. i saw it as a kid on TV and it was the totally saddest and scary ending i can remember. it doesnt scare me now but i still have that image and want to cry.
(YES im totally affected by every movie i see so i will prolly comment on all your replies LOL) :D
JK
EDIT: Movie threads are so broad and meaningless unlike the political stuff usually in the OC.. thats whay i love them and become a post potato! (+ the jobsite im @ today i can use the internet ;) )

What tha...Deja Vu is in the squad? When the hell was somebody gonna tell me about this?! I hate that dipsh*t!
OK, back on topic. Most definitely that damned clown from poltergeist! Him and his damned arms. He got his in Scary Movie 2 tho' :D
Creepshow and Twilight Zone the movie really freaked me out when I was a kid too. Always checking the wings on the aircraft when I flew commercially for creatures having a snack, and worried about going down in the basement for fear of a ape-thing in a crate!

"The Marathon Man"... I think about it every time I visit the dentist.
-
I hid my eyes when Bambi's mom was murdered by the gun nuts.

Saw a movie at a drive-in theatre when I was a kid. Don't recall the name but it was about people who when they suffered a catatonic episode were buried alive because the were thought to be dead.
Have dreaded being buried alive ever since. ;)
-
I guess you had to be the right age, but the first time I saw Planet of the Apes the ending totally freaked me out. I was about 11 or 12 I guess.

Check my profile. As to when... I think mid January some time. Search "AKDejaVu" to find a more specific date.
Its just not something I was real outspoken about. Never tried to hide it either.
But... when I went to the AK convention in 2002 I realized something... Just after I'd finished a fifth of tequilla and was standing on the deck pissing into AKXSoldier's jacuzzi, I looked around and nobody else was laughing. I realized I needed something else from a squad. Plus, they weren't nearly as gay as I was hoping in real life. In all fairness to the lack of gayness observation, AKSWulfe wasn't there.
AKs are a great bunch of guys and gals and a great squad to be in.... if you're into being in great squads.

LOL!
I thought you were playing IL2 exclusively these days. Do you fly AH anymore?
-
I didn't play any Il-2 after beta... and not that much when it was in beta. I think you're confusing me with SWulfe there. I do still play AH, though not very much. Look up "MiniD" for scores.

ya where they eat glass and he (pullman) tries to buy the zombie powder ... was done by Wes Craven I think...
Eating glass kinda bothered me hehe

I'm a bit older than that. This movie was in the late '50's or very early '60's.
-
I saw the film adaptaton of the book 'On the Beach' when I was a kid. the film was 60ish I think. for those that don't know the book, its about the aftermath of worldwide nuclear war. and due to the wind patterns on the globe, Australia was the last to get the radioactive winds. It creeped me out when people were lining up to get their suicide tablets and there was a scene where a mom was feeding her kids the tabs and putting them to bed. for the longest time after that when mom would give me medicine I wasn't 100% sure I'd wake up the next morning.
-
1. First time I saw Wizard of Oz I was about 4. When those flying monkeys came around, it totally freaked out little Holden.
2. When I saw the Exorsist, I was painting the eaves on my folks house the same color green as ballistic puke. Now everytime I smell Sears Weatherbeater, it reminds me of that stupid movie.
3. The original Psycho caused many to lock the door when they took a shower. And it is the only one of these three that could actually happen. A classic.
-
yes psycho certainly was scarey...i didnt shower for weeks after i first saw it

I read the book. Saddest, most depressing book I have ever read. However, I reccomend it, if you want a quality read.
Also saw bits from the movie, but that was after I had read the book.

Found the one I mentioned:

Night of the Living dead. Not the crappy one from the 80s.
I still have nightmares from time to time about zombies.

Sounds like Damnation Alley which, IMHO was the worst movie ever made. But, I was in mid 20s when I saw it! Starred Jan Michael Vincent and was yet another of his loser movies starring his stupid yammerhammer motorcycle fetish.

Yep that was Damnation Alley. See post above.

Another I remember seeing as kid: "IT! The Terror From Beyond Space"
Just ordered it. :)
-
Not that it messed me up ( was in 20's) but a pretty damn spooky/freaky movie is Jacob's Ladder.
If you haven't seen this movie or haven't heard of it, you should check it out. It's trip,.
