Title: Hello Buckeyes!!!
Post by: eskimo2 on November 25, 2001, 08:34:00 PM
I am moving to Akron Ohio in a couple of weeks.
Anyone else here live in the area?
I'd like to find some wingmen in the same area code and time zone.

Stay in Colorado Springs!     :)
Are you going to live "in" Akron or near it?  I have a few friends in the area there that are into aviation stuff but not flight sims or computers but they are interesting   :)
I lived in the Akron area. I lived in a small town of about 5000 named Rittman for the first 24 years of my life.  Then I spent 3 years in Colorado Springs at Fort Carson. And now 6 years here in Maryland.  Personally I prefer COS.  If I didn't love my job so much here in MD, I would be back in CO Springs as soon as possible.
Akron's really not too bad.  Not as "new" looking as COS.  You may have a hard time adjusting to the 85-95 degree days in the summer with 99% humidity though.  But you'll actually see the 4 seasons of the year!

Let me know when you get there and I will get you names of people you may be interested in looking up.

Akron is 20 minutes up the road.  Hek, we even have to share an airport with you akronites..... ;)   In the summer the Akron-Canton Airport has a decent airshow (for this area) which is worth going to.  The area of Akron-Canton isn't too bad.  You'll be getting here in time for winter and our famous Lake Erie snow machine to fire up.  But coming from Colo. I'm sure snow is no stranger to ya  :)

Welcome to Ohio, hope you enjoy your stay.

Whereabouts in the akron area are you going to be?

I flew out of Akron once...  Was gonna fly into Akron as well, but the flight got cancelled when the plane had a mechanical problem.  So I ended up flying into Cincinnati at 2am instead of getting to Akron at 10pm.    ;)  Anyways, Ohio seemed like a nice place the week I was there.    :)

edit cuz I can't spell.

My wife grew up in Tallmadge,OH., and went to Kent State.  Her parents still live there and we wanted to move closer to them and other relatives because we have children now.
I'm originally from Alaska (29yrs) and am looking forward to four seasons and real winters.

Skysix1, thanks for the offer of giving me people to look up when I get there, I will let you know.

Rob53, I think I recall from the "who are you" posts that you are a police officer, right?  Is Canton a long distance phone call from Tallmadge?  Thirteen of us Buccaneers are in Colorado Springs, and we use a phone with headset for com.  It beats the heck out of RW.

Amon, J_A_B, and Camel are also buckeyes...
That's 5 guys in the entire state... (that I know of now).
There must be more out there?

I know of about 38 players in Colorado Springs alone!

Orville and Wilber would be disapointed.

Time to start recruiting in Ohio.
