Ist Sehr gut!
http://jbroey3.tripod.com/DeeZproggies/DeezCamp.exe (http://jbroey3.tripod.com/DeeZproggies/DeezCamp.exe)
Be sure to watch the Entire program. let it Run through its Entirety.
-
Also turn up the bass ;)
-
ummm..what is it supposed to do? I get a white triangle on the left side of my screen, it stretches out a little, then everything goes black and nothing else happens.
-
What kind of Video card and drivers are you using?
-
Bumpers....
-
lol no idea what that was supposed to advertise but I feel my brain is full of subliminal messages waiting to go off now. :D
-
hehe DID you like it???
ITS ONLY 64 KILOBYTES.
:D
Did you watch the entire thing ;) and did it RUN WELL ;)

I had very minor little studer...2 times :)
For 64 kb thats some impresive stuff.
-
CC its pretty impressive with what one can do with 64k worth of code.
:D
Just think if we used this type of programming for flight sim graphics. There'd be alotta overhead left to use for Physics modeling, user intervention, and netcode.
Think It can be done in a MEG? ;)
-
Bump...Er stickers
-
I got nothing except windows asking me what prog to use :(
whats it supposed to run in ?
-
Hello Merro, Try this.
Left click on this link.
http://jbroey3.tripod.com/DeeZproggies/DeezCamp.exe (http://jbroey3.tripod.com/DeeZproggies/DeezCamp.exe)
It should bring you to the Tripod Site. At the new screen you should then be able to Left click on the Link.
It will prompt you to either Save the File to disk, or open from the current location.
Choose the Save to Disk option, and Choose where you would like to save the file to.
You can save it to any Directory you choose.
Once it is Downloaded (should take a second or two, if that much) you click on the file as you would any other to start the program.
Enjoy :)
-
Yup downloaded ok but when i run it, it asks for a program to use
I'm running windows 2000.
-
:D hehe that is very strange Merro ;)
It is an Executable file you should be able to simply run it by double clicking once its downloaded ;)
I myself am running on Windows2000 Pro Service pack 2.
However this should not be a service pack issue ;) its AN EXE file.
Try Right clicking on the file, and choose open.
-
Yeah its weird, it doesnt come down as a exe its just called deezcamp with no extension
ah well i'll try it when i get home from work
-
Very very strange indeed.
perhaps you can try renaming the file then?
If you do, try to do it in dos.
-
i get the not a valid win applocation message :(
-
Maw... do you have DirectX 8.0 and higher installed?
The program calls for certain 8.0 library files. Have you experienced any sort of D3dint errors?
What are you running system wise also , 95/98/NT/2000/XP?
-
It is saving the target as an .htm file. Not an .exe file.
-
Okay Guys check it out... This is the problem, The tripod site is having issues.
What you need to do is click on the link below.
http://jbroey3.tripod.com/DeeZproggies/DeezCamp.exe (http://jbroey3.tripod.com/DeeZproggies/DeezCamp.exe)
When you come to the Tripod Page, You LEFT Click on the Link that says
"http://jbroey3.tripod.com/DeeZproggies/DeezCamp.exe"
It seems that Tripod is confusing the download name.
There are 3 possible things that you are going to see when it prompts you to either "save as" or "open".
It will say:
"you have chosen to download a file from this location"
If it only has the name "deezcamp" without a .exe name, what you will have to do is simply download it,
("save this file to disk")
then rename the file so that it says
Deezcamp.exe
Windows will now recognize the file now :)
Hopefully this clears things up.

Bumper Stickers :D
Download the program, Come one, Come all :)
Come see what a mere 64K of mind numbing code can produce :)
-
win2k sp2, radeon with latest non-beta drivers
-
Hello Hedge I have looked into that,
On my Radeon workstation,(Win2k/SP2 also) I have the 5.13.01.3226 Drivers installed and everything is running without a hitch.
Have you veryified the DirectX version you have?
The Demo requires 8.0 onward.
You may want to update to 8.0a if you havent done so already.
Let me know any further errors, or anomilies.
Thanks.
-
After you download file select rename and finish that name with ".exe"
Then files icon will change into self exe program.
-
Amazing! Graphics aren't out of this world, but to get that from a 64k download is crazy. Obvious question, how'd they do that?
-
Very Impressive! :)
-
Bump...
Come one COME ALL see the most efficent form of programming availible.
Hitech I THINK you might Be interested.
All the Doubters, Check it out.
Get Aces High Graphics with sounds all in a mere 64kilobytes of code. :)
-
Too THE TOP! :D
-
Funny... so many are willing to bash but not try and post response???
TRY the 3d demo and post results.
DO IT :D
HiTech, Skuzzy, Where are you? Have you seen this? try it.
-
Busy with the CON right now as are all the HTC folks. Will try when I get a chance.
-
Ahh... I havn't been keeping up with the Con information, So it is this week/end?
hmm..
-
I went ahead and grabbed it. Nice cut scene, but it locked up in a sound loop about 30 to 45 seconds into it with a black screen. I waited about 3 minutes before hitting the reset switch.
-
Your presumption that size of the program means there is less going on is, well, incorrect.
I tried it, nice- but it runs in 340x480.
It also runs horribly slow in some areas when there is a lot of transparency.
I also noticed it makes a lot of calls to various functions already included with Windows. This is how it builds those objects, they aren't pre-built polygons internal to the program itself.
You can't build that and expect it to run a game, it's pre-scripted and doesn't involve a lot of internal programming. It makes use of a lot of pre-defined functions to build that world. And those sounds are simple- very simple. Every heard of Visual Basic? You can make audio sounds like that using Visual Basic and only use a couple KB doing so.
This is nothing like a game that requires a large world that involves a lot of polys and bitmaps.

The pixel data of the textures are not stored, but the commands that are needed to create them are. By using this method, you are able to recreate natural and artificial reality in 64 kilobytes, instead of creating abstract blob and envi textures.
The demo includes 66 textures in 32bit (including the alpha channel) and a resolution of 256x256 pixels, resulting in about 16 megabytes of uncompressed data.
And those sounds are simple- very simple. Every heard of Visual Basic? You can make audio sounds like that using Visual Basic and only use a couple KB doing so.
Well Wulf, a synthesizer, a sequencer were used to create the midi file score using Audio Logic.
Everything is less than 16 kilobytes, all this was created in three weeks.
The midi file is compressed and stored in demo.
It also runs horribly slow in some areas when there is a lot of transparency.
What Video card, and Driver version are you using?
What version of DirectX 8?
I also noticed it makes a lot of calls to various functions already included with Windows. This is how it builds those objects, they aren't pre-built polygons internal to the program itself.
Wrong,..standard primitives were used.
Geometric shapes like cubes and cylinders are distorted and combined to more complex scenes.
You can't build that and expect it to run a game, it's pre-scripted and doesn't involve a lot of internal programming.
Wrong, the only thing that is prescripted are camera movements throughout the environment.
User intervention would take more time and more code, but not overwhelming amounts, given the funtionality.
-
The envrionment itself is pre-sripted.
Ran the demo 3 times, all movements of the moveable objects the same. Each scene towards the end is the same as it was in the beginnining. Same movements.
Midi files are not big when you use a simplistic score.
Like I said, they aren't pre-built polygons- which is necessary to build a game world and game objects.
Voodoo5 5500 1.04.00, DirectX8.0.
I know how the pixel data is done and how it's applied to a object.
Fact of the matter is, this entire thing, with exception to coloring and audio, is already pre-defined within other functions (hence the calls).
You simply can't create a flight sim, or even a good looking FPS, with this.
It's great for demoing a 3D processor, or to make a cool video to demo something- but it simply is not good for games. Nor is it efficient, I can get better resolution with more detail and more polygons (Unreal) and still get higher framerate.
Efficiency is both the size of a program and how fast it runs.

But does it use blade element theory?

I think so. The movement of the primitives "feels" better than if it was using lookup tables. :D
I'm sorry, I couldn't resist! I'm naughty, I'll have to get one of those hot little FSU co-eds to give me a spanking tonight!
-
Bawahahaha! Good one funked.
-
i just wasn't waiting long enough for it to start doing something - but it locked up my comp about a minute into it.
Not a bad job at all, you do any more stuff like that for demo competitions? Once upon a time i followed the demo scene pretty closely, saw some amazing stuff done with miniscule amounts of code...

I am recreating the Gloster Meteor for an animation, as well as for Possible 3D windowed environment that will allow the user control over the oject.
Rotational, zoom, walk and other preview types.
-
haven't tried it yet, but that wonder program seems to have more compatibility issues than AH +)

And your results skurj?

gotta go to work
DeeZ u refresh this thread every 10 minutes?

Very Nice,
how about a Mossie instead of a Meteor,
its better looking :)
-
After the 262, I was kinda in a Jet mood. :D
The model is comming along pertty nicely so far :)
I might post some really beta screen shots hehe.
-
Yep, it's cool. But, how does it work with imput from the otherside? If you can Compress and decompress both directions, you got a winner. Otherwise it's a lovely product for demos and maybe texture.

Hiya Wizzer.
what you speak of is going to be made, I wont say much about the way it will happen, but the intervention of users can be a reality with such low sizes of the over all product.

If you can do it, you'll be a star. My first thought is that latencey will be....well tough. But gl, it looks like it will be fun if usuable. ;)

PS, put me on your beta list. :)
-
realy nice clasic demo code ! realy nice
swulfe = give up you must be to old for that :D
visited some demo partys , not always great like in the time of 386dx but sometime some exeption shoving up
-
Still havent Heard from Hitech what he thinks about the Demo.
-
i recomend taking a hit of acid before viewing it. Great Work DeeZ
