Title: Question!
Post by: jpv4077 on May 29, 2003, 07:58:00 PM
I was at the end of a game and while in the tower I got a message from another pilot wanting to join my plane. I didnt want to appear rude but I didnt know what it meant or how to respond. How would I send a message like that. It wasnt in the regular chat at the top of the screen-it was like an instant message box.

Just hit decline then yell at them on channel to ask first or you can simply explain why u declined them.

It is possible for someone to join you as a gunner/observer while in the tower, then when you launch they will be still attached in the normal way.

It used to be that if you were a gunner on a bomber, if you didn't 'unjoin' at the end of the flight, you would still be attached if the pilot took off in a fighter, and would be with him for the duration of the flight.  Now, of course, you become unjoined automatically when the flight ends, or can leave at any time by either typing .unjoin [GameID] or clicking the Tower on the clipboard.  :)

1) It means some one wants to come along in your plane as either a gunner or observer. Being an observer is a good way to learn from the experts; and most will happily take a passenger along.

2) He's rude, not you. ALWAYS ask before sending a join request, because that "join" box pops up right over your gun sight, right handy if you're in a furball (not!)

3) Response: Either hit the "accept" button, or type ".accept "handle""; or hit the decline button. You don't have to give a reason or explain.

4) to try it yourself, type ".join "handle""; but ask first.

5) As an observer, you can see the pilot's guages and flap positions etc,; and you can film it too; tho' film's a bit buggy

P.S. you never have to ask Shane; he always accepts passengers, just go straight ahead and send the "join"  :)

That's the price he pays for running his mouth on the "all countries" channel.  If he's going to draw a lot of attention by putting on a show, he should expect a large number of groupies.

actually i almost never get a join request... you'd think there'd be a few at least, if only for the learning experience...

besides it's easy enough to supress the join box to text buffer.

:D

I get 'em frequently, always accept, even when landing or in the tower. :D
