SSN 22 (Connecticut) had a polar bear chew on its tailfin last month when it surfaced near the North Pole.
Pretty amusing.

Two thoughts:
1) What caliber gizmo they blasted it with
2) What was served for supper that evening aboard the sub!

Hey man, this is the "new" Navy. They don't just destroy whales eardrums with giant noisemakers from 500km anymore!
They reported it to Canadian Fish & Wildlife. Or something.
That bear had some serious cojones biting a nuclear sub.

are they sure it wasn't a GreenPeace activist in a furry white bear suit?

Hysterical...
Put yourself in the Polar Bear's position.
A large ominous looking object suddenly appears smack dab in the middle of your turf... It's challenging you, paying no heed to your aggressive stalking and gestures.
There's only one thing left to do... Bite the crap out of it and show it who's boss.

LOL!!!
I'm stealing the photos and USgrim's response! ;)
