Germany is arguably the most potent ground force in Europe. For the first time in over 60 years. Britain has a larger fleet and an air force of equal size, but a far smaller army. The French army is not nearly as well equipped as the Germans and not organized for a major war.

Sound familiar?

All they need is Larry Tank,Kurt Tank's illigitimate son to make a new Fw 190.
Bah ,what can Germany gain for having a modern military? Nothing. Since there are far much more advanced military entities like that of the USA. Not only that but they're Socio -Demos,they can do much more damage in the economic market than with the military :D
Like the article says they don't really have any kind of vehicle to project that military power other than defence. Worry more about the Arabs than the Germans I say, unless of course they go to Africa to re colonize some colonies and then it'll start to get messy, and you know what happens then.

Shouldnt Germany be worrying about their failing economy?

war is how you revive a falling economy, or at least a great distraction to take peoples minds off it.

Britain and France both have nukes. Germany doesn't.

Time to destroy those krauts ONCE AGAIN!

I'm terribly sorry; I seem have stepped into the twilight zone. Do excuse me.

Twenty years ago, a German uncle of mine (who owns a factory) told my father that all factories in Germany must have contingent plans in place to facillitate an immediate switchover to military production in case of conflict.
Just something interesting...

Damned devious Nazi german militarists!! Now all they need is Bush, as Hitler of course. Cheney, as the brains behind it all and in poor physical health just like Goebbels. And finally Wolfowitz, reprising the role of Heydrich as Jewish super devious nazi. Putting in strong supporting performances will be Connie Rice - a classic nazi femme fatale, Rumsfeld as the old militarist and finally Colin Powel as the glorious respected and beloved wartime commander to bring some respectyablity for the lot. Yep they will get the fourth reich rolling up tp spped in no time...

I don't think anybody who mattered ever entertained the thought that Germany had started it's last war . Because of it's shamefull past Germany is so rife with the disdainment of anything warfare, to the point of war; this country from which sprang militant peace organizations. Ask any american serviceman who was stationed there about the german police, lol. The phrase police brutality is kind of a redundancy there .
They went from nazism to illegalizing the swaztica, is this irony lost on them ?

If you look at the grand scheme of things, it's obvious we're bent for world domination .
Quiver in fear.

Yes some sweet irony there, and they are so fanatic about it too -it's funny.... :)

I read that Germany are disarming - they're going to lose around 100 of their Panavia Tornado's and also their Phantoms. I can't remember the time scale of this. I think it's all down to finances.
Wish I could remember where I saw this, it might have been in one of the national newspapers in the UK.
I know that they have reduced the amount of Airbus A400Ms and Typhoon's they require, again for financial reasons.

I fear the Japanese much more...they're quiet...too quiet :D

chairboy, that holds true in all countries.
my family's chemical dist. company had to comply with checks every 5 years to insure that we could either supply chemicals to INDUMIL (military industries) or provide transportation services in case a state of emergency (war, natural disaster, etc) was issued.
