It's very good as a single player experience, superb as a multiplayer game.

When you get the game, download the CMMOS mod manager from http://www.combatmission.com . It allows you to replace alot of the skins with more authentic feeling versions. For instance some of the T-34s might have a paticular Guards regiment emblem on there or kill markings or 'Die Facists!' in Russian on the side.

There's also lots of mods at http://www.cmmods.com . These don't use the CMMOS manager so you have to be more careful as you have to replace particular bmps.

The Scenario Depot (http://ns9.super-hosts.com/~dragonlair.net/combatmission/) has lots of player created battles and operations. As does Boots and Tracks (http://www.militarygameronline.com/boots_tracks/).

If you want a game just PM me and we'll organise something. :)

My advice (to those who haven't experienced CMBO):

A) learn the game.  Follow the tutorials and learn how to maneuver in combat.
B) Hone your skills against the computer.  Check the battlefront.com forums (there's a master thread of everything useful that's a great reference tool)
C) Run some small PBEM (or better yet TCP/IP) games against a human opponent.  Be sure and debrief afterwards.

The principles for running a successful CM mission are similar to those for commanding an AH scenario (or any other form of command): know your troops and their equipment; concentrate your forces, maintain C&C, and force the other guy to lose unit cohesion.  Then wipe 'em out.

Preferably a batttle off of  http://ns9.super-hosts.com/~dragonlair.net/combatmission/

that neither of us have played yet.

I have the original Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord. Should I be re-familiarizing myself with that before B2B arrives?

Prepare to die Comrade Duck!  I vill crush you mit my shuperior panzer forces!
If you want a game, just drop by our "Other Games" forum (http://www.raf303.org/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=2).  There are at least 3 guys there who will give you a good fight.  Just beware of Dinger's salamanderly panzerschrecks, Suave's twinkletoed tankers, and Badger's fantastic feint attacks.

No, there is a world of difference between CMBO and CMBB. If you familiarize yourself with the old orders you will just be lost when you get to learn the new ones in CMBB.

I'll kick your bellybutton Swedish meatball!!! :D Well, probably not. My little brother kicks my bellybutton at CMBB on a regular basis. I say 'little' - he's 22 y/o and is an inch taller than me.

I'll PM you Hortlund.

And I keep trying to give Funked and co a game. I'll make sure I'll do it this time.

I never played CMBO, but I hear MG modelling (specifically the troop's reactions to it) is more realistic in CMBB. Try to cross an open space with men, that is in the field of fire of an HMG and you know about it. Your men dive to the ground and start crawling. The supression fire really feels right.

If anyone has an open slot for another CMBB game, I'm willing. I haven't played a multiplayer game for a while (CMBO), but I've got the itch again.

Okay-dokey. Will do when I get home.

BTW, how do you save CMBB movies and is it possible to construct one long movie of the entire battle? That would be cool.
