HTC has said several times there will not be any “updates” until AHII is out so why can’t a thread like this apply to that?
Your also assuming, I am assuming this thread makes a difference with HTC. Your right. These threads are read by them and do make a difference. Anyone who thinks they don’t is foolish. You think this BB is here just for our pleasure?

There is no doubt almost all the seven planes should be dedicated to finishing the Japanese and Soviet plane sets.
Frankly, of the five major combatants, the US and German, RAF sets are adequate at the moment, in the order as listed(RAF planes leave some types to be desired, but they, possibly cannot be more empty and bare, than USSR and JP)
* Ki-84
AH's most needed late-war JP plane in terms of balance.
* Ki-43
The early-war hole in JP Army planes
* Ki-45
The jabo hole in JP planes. Twin engined jabo/heavy fighter role JP plane - often referred to as "the most maneuverable twin engined fighter of WWII". Although the Ki-102 might be a better choice, in the matters of being 'representative', decided to choose the Ki-45 over the Ki-102.
* Yak-7B
Isn't it interesting that there's no Soviet Plane before the year 1943? Yak-7B for the 1941 hole in Soviet planeset.
* Yak-1B
Soviet 1942 plane. A mid war plane comparable in performance with the Bf109G-2. It'd be quite capable MA fighter for earning mucho perks - much like the 109G-2 or the C.205
* Yak-9
The most numerously produced mid-war Soviet plane, and yet, all the "9" subtypes we have is the late war superplane, and the 37mm version...
* P-38G
Of the numerous P-38 models, which should be adequate as another variant for AH?
D and E models leave too much to be desired. J, K and L models are all late war planes - the P-38L is a tremendously powerful plane as it is.
So, that leaves F, G, and H models as a mid war plane, which saw extensive use through '42~'43. Of the three, I think the P-38G is adequate:
The third most numerously produced P-38 model(3810 P-38Ls, 2970 P-38Js, 1082 P-38G in the third place) - about 345 mph at 5000ft, 400mph at 25,000ft... A perfect mid-war P-38 - comparable in performance with our Spit9, 109G-2/G-6, and the Fw190A-5!
.......
Personal wish list, after the gap is filled:
*Fw190A-1
*Bf109G-10 -> Bf109K-4 conversion
*Bf109G-6/AS or Bf109G-14
*Spitfire fMkIX
*LaGG-3
*La-5
*I-16
*Mig-3
*P-39N
*A6M3
*Ki-44
*C.200
*Re.2005
*Tu-2
*Pe-8
*Ju87G

There was no difference between the P-51B and P-51C, other than the C being built in the Dallas factory rather than in California. Malcolm hoods were installed on both when they could be obtained.
Likewise, the P-51K was a Dallas built P-51D with a slightly reshaped canopy bubble and an Aero Products cuffless prop in place of the D model's Hamilton Standard fan.

ps did the italians ever make a decent bomber? Either dive or level, light, medium, hvy, whatever.
In short fill out the plane set for each country. Japanese & russians need the most work, Germany needs a good long range hvy bomber. (I know I know, they didn't make one)
-
According to generalized information I have, I don't think there's anyway the P-38J can be considered an "early war" P-38.
Seems like it entered service around August of 1943, using V-1719-89/91 Allison engines with woppin' 1600HP WEP rating at 27,000ft - rated the fastest of all P-38 variants, with dive-flap features appearing in the later production P-38Js which saw extensive use in 1944. Strap on the hydraulics gadgets and lose 6mph on the top speed, and it's a P-38L. I think the difference between the P-38J and the P-38L, is about as much as the difference between our AH Bf109G-10 and a Bf109K-4.

Yes they did.
Heikel He177 Greif. 13,200 lbs ord. 3,107 mile range. (early mods had engine probs.) Service delivery March 1942, about 700 served on the eastern front.
(http://www.luftwaffepics.com/LCBW/He177-13s.jpg)
Junkers Ju288. 11,023 lbs ord. 2,237 mile range. 416 mph top speed! Only 22 were finished but saw service in 1944.
(http://www.warbirdsresourcegroup.org/LRG/images/ju288-1.jpg)
Unfortunately for the Germans (and fortunately for the allies) the impressive bomber-B programme was cancelled in 1944 as Germany needed fighters not bombers. Planes like the He274, He277 and others were completed, flown and operated by the French and Soviets after the war.

If I remember the count correctly, the Italian planeset is the most under represented out of the bunch. But the Japanese and Russian planesets definatly need work too. That German long range buff would be appreciated by many also I'm sure.

The one I've seen of a Mk21 had 4 x 20mm in nose and the 4 x .50s in the wings. It's the Australian built version of the TF.X - only main difference was the .50s replacing the .303s.

I'd like to see the C4 and night-fighter versions of the AR-234. The latter would make a good alternative to the Me163 for HQ defence - not as in getting there quickly, but being able to loiter and manoeuver at high speed.

7. Brewster F2A3
The Ki's cause everyone is bawling to have these added. I-16, a nice early Russian fighter. Pe-2, will give the Russians a much needed tactical bomber, and the Sm-79 will also do this for the Italians.
The Fiat G-55 well this was a compromise for me. I wanted the French Dewtone D-520, but then that would nesesitate the addition of the Hawk 75, Ms-406, and Peugot(SP)605(I think, not sure if i got the model right but that twin engine French tactical bomber). Let's not open that can of worms, so I went for fleshing out the Italian planeset with an excelent fighter.
Brewster, This little piece of crap held the line in so many theaters that it deserves to be added. Look where it served; Burma with the Brittish, Finland with the Finnish, and Midway with the Midwadians;)
-
I cant believe no one listed A-26 Invader!!
Actually, the A-26 was poorly received by the 13th Bomb Squadron who tested it for the AAF. The commanding officer of the 13th had a list of 32 items they wanted changed before they thought it would replace the A-20 or the B-25. The commanding officer even went to the Pentagon and told Hap Arnold personally why it wasn't ready to replace those aforementioned planes.
Among the problems was that the A-26 didn't have good side and downward views which were essential for extreme low level bombing missions that the 13th BS had been doing over New Guinea and Rabaul.
The A-26 did carry twice the bomb load of the A-20 and was "slightly" faster, but really didn't come into its own until the Korean War.
:cool:
-
The A-26 did carry twice the bomb load of the A-20 and was "slightly" faster,
According to the USAF the A-26 was 60mph faster then the A-20 and was used for level bombing ,ground straffing and rocket attacks.From what i can find it was the fastest US bomber of the war besides the B-29 and i think it would be a great addition to Aces High.http://www.wpafb.af.mil/museum/air_power/ap29.htm
