Mass Barbecue Brawl Quelled
Jun 3, 9:50 am ET
BERLIN (Reuters) - Sixty German police rushed to douse a quarrel that erupted when a family barbecue overheated into unbridled violence, with the repeated stabbing of one man in the bottom with a skewer, police said on Tuesday.
"We needed about an hour and a half to calm things down," said Berlin police spokesman Matthias Prange.
Police said the ruckus between some 40 individuals from three families in the capital's central Tiergarten park began when a six-year-old boy was struck in the face with a stick by an unidentified boy.
In the ensuing melee, the victim's brother, 19, received multiple wounds to his hindquarters from an assailant's thrusts with a grilling skewer. He was later treated in hospital.
Amid the flying fists and hair-pulling, two young women battered a 42-year-old woman on the ground with folding chairs, a man had his leg broken, and two young boys were thrashed with a belt and partially throttled by livid barbecuers, police said.
Police made several arrests on arrival. Eight people have since been charged with causing grievous bodily harm.

I'm glad to hear Germany has rednecks too.
"Necks Around The World"
Would be a good premise for a Cops miniseries no?
-
BTW my uncle (former emergency room RN) says that every Thanksgiving they would get at least one person with a cooking/dining utensil injury from a family dispute. This is in Northern Kentucky err Dayton, OH.
-
No kidding...take out the references to Germany and you'd know that this happened in Good 'ole Boy Territory, USA! :D

Hey, don't laugh boys...
My busiest day of the year as a cop was Christmas... Stabbings, shootings and homicides. Most of which occurred at family gatherings, and all of which were alcohol induced...
But to elaborate further on Funked's statement, there was typically a mobile home somewhere at the scene of the crime.
I'm glad Germany has rednecks too, but do they have trailers there?

You know, I had to work at the jail last year on Christmas. It all would have been worth it to, just to see a roudy & drunken Santa Claus, but I was disapointed.
-
Tell us some jail stories.
My only jail stories are lame. One time some juveniles stole my pager just to mess with me. I never noticed it missing. They gave it back as I was leaving.
Another time I had some inmates try to buy my Nikes. They made a good offer, but I didn't feel like going barefoot or wearing nasty jail issue sneakers all day.
-
Think of it what would have happened if they would've been in US... where firearms are rather easy to obtain legally.
"...received multiple wounds to his hindquarters from an assailant's shots with a semi-automatic firearm"

Surely, the population of an entire city would have been killed off. Good point Fishu!

Bavarian??? No more like Saxon maybe or any Ossie!!!!
If you think that's bad you should see what happens at an Irish Traveller's (Tinkers or Gypsy like Itinerants) wedding or funeral. Usually there's a feud between the newlwed's families anyway which erupts after a lot of drink is taken. Street battles and Baton charges by riot police are not unheard of.
As for funerals well usually the Police have to cordon off the roads to the graveyard, searching vehicles and confiscating all the slashooks, hammers, baseball bats, knives and shotguns of the mourners. But they still have fists and it's not unheard of for someone to be killed at a funeral which of course means another battle is convened at his funeral and the feud goes on.
It's all good fun.

thats funny. but if you really want to see some ignorant stuff going on, go to the rez. i live about 150 miles from the town of busby. that used to be know as per capita murder capital of the U.S.A.

Uhm noooo ... those with trailers come from the Netherlands.:D
In Germany we call Red Necks "Prolls - singular: Proll" (a bad word for proletarians) or "Asos - singular: Aso" another word for asocials.
They usually have a mustache, short top hair and long hair in the neck. The girls are blond tinctured and look like b...ches. They live in whole Germany.

I also see that Ricers = Rednecks in Germany. Interesting. Do these rednecks wear visor's upside down and sideways? I actually knew a few guys from germany as exchange students in high school. They were some of the most interesting guys in the whole school, and yes they did know how to have a great party! :D

Sorry to tell but looks like Germans still don't know how to party;)
No Germans involved in this, 3 big families from libanon and 2 other arabian countries collided because 2 of their kids had trouble together.
