Ya know the saying, "The Dumbest Buy The Mostest."

Not going to find a better truck than a ford f-series

McDonalds is the most popular restaurant in the world. More people eat at McDonalds than anywhere else.
Logically, then, Mcdonalds food is the finest.

Especially with a Straight-6 300 cu.in. with Auto, has more torque than the Smallblock V8 with a stick. 135,000 flawless miles other than general wear/tear on the tires. Its towed 2 boats and 1 trailer during its life, and seen more hunting dogs than you'd ever dream of. :) I'll still have it in another 12 years.

I might add, the new Ford F-150's have score low marks in recent 40mph crash tests though :(

Flawed logic Chairboy. McDonald's is judged to be the best overall based upon price and convenience as well as food, thus it's the most popular. Personally I prefer Morton's of Chicago, and personally I'd rather drive a Ferrari than a Taurus. Unfortunately I can't afford a Ferrari and I can't afford to eat lunch at Morton's, so I cruise down the road eating my Big Mac behind the wheel of my Taurus or F-150.

Everyone disses on Ford's but I see more 1 and 2 hundred thousand mile plus Ford's than anything. I have a still running well Ford Tempo with 150k miles and I figure it'll make 200k easy.
(crosses fingers for the drive tomorrow)

Yep, still like Chevy PUs...But then, I wouldn't jump off a cliff just because a bunch of other folks were either.

That probably holds true for most vehicles Rip, they just don't build em like they used to:)
I had an F150, straight 6, couldn't kill it, but I think the straight 6 engine is a good one for chevy and mopar too. My perfect truck would be a F150 with a small block chevy 350. I think the ford trucks are built better, but I prefer the chevy small block to the ford engine.

I'm with ya almost 100%. I'll take a Ford 6 any day and the chevy's not bad, but V8? gimme that Chevy 350.

So the top three are pickup trucks, the next two are family sedans, the next one is an SUV, then a small 4-door hatchback, then 3 more sedans, a minivan, an econobox, another SUV, and another sedan.
Obviously, there isn't a market for the sports coupe in America unless there are provisions for a baby seat, diaper bag, and a stroller.
And guess which manufacturers aren't listed.
Pontiac
Audi
BMW
Mercedes
Volkswagen
Jaguar
Cadillac
Buick
Oldsmobile
Lincoln
Volvo
Saab
Mazda
Mitsubishi
Isuzu
Saturn
Import sluggers Toyota and Honda only had 2 cars listed. Nissan only had 1.
Interesting.

Rip:
What photo-editing software did you use to give that picture the illusion of sunlight? The effect is very realistic.
Hooligan

probably some HACKED program:D lol
-
Just bought a Chevy PU. Then when it was too late I realized that Chevrolet was a FRENCH word!!!!
-
I had the deep 6 300 in my previos f150. It is a very powerful simple engine. My current 94 F150 305 V8 is nicer on the highways but I wouldnt want to load the back up with a cord of wood like I could with the old one. Mine is just like Rips. But 4X4 and dark green.
-
I've had an F-150 for ten years. If it ever wears out I'll get another one.

I will stay here as long as you stay up there. We don't need any pasty skinned garage carpeters down here.

Couldn't GIVE me a Ford. I've had friends roll new ones off the lot and have em towed back repeatedly.
Can't vouch for the trucks, the ones that my friends have had are Mustangs, Thunderbirds, Taurus, etc.
Kinda why my current vehicle search has me at Honda as of late.
Only truck I had was a Dodge Dakota, never had any problem with it. Bought the Saturn cuz I was doing in town driving and wanted better mileage
Sorry Ford :p

My Grandfather was a very wise man. When he bought something, it was intended to work hard and last forever. He drove a 1967 2WD Ford F-100 with the big 6 (300cid vs the 265 cid) and a Granny 4 speed. No radio, no A/C. That truck hauled cattle, feed, hay, fencing material, pulled calves out of their mothers during problem births (that was a sight), bounced off of trees and thru ditches chasing stray cattle. After he died it became my beat up butt ugly Yellow pick-up with 150,000 on the odometer. I drove it all thru High School and almost cried when I came home from boot camp and found out my Dad sold it. Sitting in my driveway right now are my 88 F-250 diesel and my 94 Explorer. I'll be a Ford man till the day I die.
-
Owned a 64' GMC in college with a 3 on the tree, and the big 6 cylinder. It was so ugly it couldn't die.
But the best of all was my 68 IH. Don't think they make them anymore, but it was a tough sob.

"It was so ugly it couldn't die..."
ROTFL!!!
I had a 76 IH Scout, same...sold it with 200k on it, still running strong, when I got my Ford F150 new in 1991.

Same here. The ones that don't get towed end up with "For Sale" signs in the windows. And why is it that Ford headlights glaze up into milky-white pieces of plastic after a few years in the sun?

Which vehicle is really "Ford Tough" when it counts?
Toyota wins, hands down.

Aw come on! The dummy's chest came out ok...his head was mushed, but his heart was still in the right place!
Still a Chevy man, but ya can't knock the Toyota. Even tho' it's ugly. ;)

Yeah, I mentioned that in my post up above...

I don't think you like that truck. I mean, where's the truck's carpet?
-
i had a 74 F-150 with the big six. back then i was in the boat buisness. the damn thing was submerged twice (second time it floated.. had a wooden bed and box) and had 210,000 miserable miles on it when i climbed in it and the floorboards gave out.. rusted clean thru.
i jammed a couple of pieces of ply over the hole, added a milk crate and couch pillow and took another boat to the ramp that day. we pulled the hardwood bed off it later that week and gave it to the scrap metal yard.. where they put a plow on it and put it back to work.
it was a good truck. wouldn't hestitate to buy another one for boat work.

I think my F-250 is pretty tough..... I bet it could smash any toyota :)

I agree Hang. I've got a 92 F-150 with the 351/auto w/overdrive in it. Can pull a 19' boat up I-5 at 70 MPH in 100 degree heat with the air conditioner on full blast and the temp gauge stays steady at bout 185. 110k miles on it, and when it dies I plan on getting another one. My wife's car is a 95 Taurus we bought new 8 years ago. We have 200,000 + miles on it and only had to replace the heater core and a radiator fan in 8 years. We'll be trading it in for a new Taurus as soon as this one finally dies- if it ever does.
