Do we have them? You be the judge.
Mission is put in the planner, big strike package with escort. 20 min. before start, 3 sectors around A1 are empty. Ripsnort announces to the Knits to join the strike package. 3 min. before launch, what used to be unoccuppied airfields fill up, and 3 sectors around A1 fill up with red, 4 visible A/C over A1, waiting. 2nd time its happen on Friday night this month.
Certainly is disheartening for teamwork.
What can we do to prevent this? I can only think of one thing, 48 hour country change limit, but even that is not fool proof...

I find that squad missions on RW work much better than mission typed across channel 1. It doesn't always take a spy... just someone disgruntled that 3/4 of their country is participating in a "Mission" rather than doing something productive.

Sure looked like something funny was going on to me too Ripsnort. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif) The funny part was that ALL of the planes over 1 were fighters. Normally I'd expect a big raid to have at least 1 bomber. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) (Almost all were spits too, so I doubt it was a jabo raid.) At least our 88s and friendly fighters downed them all without any losses.

I fly Bishop and haven't heard any word ever about intercepting missions that aren't yet on radar. Doesn't mean that some people aren't in on it but at least when I've been logged in I haven't heard anything mentioned about groups yet to even launch.

Ripsnort,
Country Change matters not in this case, I can be a Knight and talk to anyone in the arena on the private channel and if I am a bishop spy all I need do is chat up my favorite Bishop on the private channel.
Disable the private channel or limit it to country only and just conduct all inter country conversations on the open channel.
A harsh measure and sure to meet with howls of displeasure.
There was definately something going on there tonight that really bites but as we all have heard a zillion times here and will hear again from many sources here:
"It's my 30 bucks and I will play how I choose!"
For the totally thick, that quote is not mine.
HISTORICAL ARENA ANYONE??

When did they put this thing in here and WTF is it for?
-
What AKDeajvu said. Squad and intersquad particpation is best, imo. If you open it to any stick who wants to join you leave your plans in thier hands. And everyone doesn't respect the same things you, I or many do.
Not saying don't invite lone wolves but you may want to with only ones you have experience flying with. Same thing happened in AW (sorry to refer back to it often) and I VERY rarely met the person who made up a mission plan online in the general arena due to this same reasons.

Rip,
I was flying as a Rook tonite from 9:00 pm eastern to midnite....never saw anything on our country channel that indicated anyone had any spy info. If they did it, it didn't go over country channel that I know of. The Musketeers were busy down in bishland so who knows.

This is much like the country gang bangin' claim to me. Possible?.... erhm... well yah. But I *never* hear this kinda thing on the country channel. Probably just dumb rotten luck.

I was a spy, but I did it legally (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) I'd drive an M16 from a friendly base and keep an eye-ball on an enemy field. When a plane lifted off, I'd tell everyone in Knightland:
"niki up N of 14". Worked like a charm. Of course since my trial is over [died yesterday] I'm H2H only now. Nice part was I got 50 kills last tour from mostly doing just this. I'd park and watch the fights. When someone got in trouble they'd drag the nme plane towards me. I'd get the assist or a kill. Defending fields got me over half my kills, but it was loads of fun killing ackstars. I got one at A20; fighter hangars were down so a B-17 and B-26 got up. I nailed the B-17 by sawing off his wing, then picked up an assist on the B-26. Also nailed a B-17 by parking at the end of the runway and shooting him from below as he took off.
Spies are there, and they work. Heck, I was there when a guy knew my position and went Bishop from Knight to kill me. Trust me, you can spy like I do which is legal or you can pull what this guy did.

I haven't noticed any cheating recently but you'd never know for sure. Two or three tours back I would have had to go on private channel to a few countrymen when attacking a field, otherwise we'd have about three enemy fighters waiting at 20k and perhaps one or two fighters definitely looking for a goon in what was a quiet sector. All this for just a bomber and a goon capture?

That are communists Rip, for sure. Spies everywhere! (Do not forgot to check your flat for the bugs).

I don't know it there are spies or not. It doesn't work me up much in either case.
There were spies watching the 8th AF take off too.
We're in this for the air combat anyway right? Getting bounced on take-off, form-up, during cruise or at the IP all happened to somebody sometime didn't it?

Sometimes there is no defenders on a field even if somebody calls his country mates to defend the field (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
-
Flakbait what you did isn't espionage, that's surveillance . Would've been even cooler if you had bailed out of your vehicle and stood their with your m1 carbine reporting enemy activity . Of course then you would've had to walk home; no helicopters in wwII .
-
FWIW, I will shoot down a chute if the guy is loitering too long, or even taking too much time to drift down, if I think he's possibly reporting on whats happening at one of our fields - as we form up for defense or a strike. And I definately put a priority on killing vehicles close by, if I see them.

Hmm.. take off radio from 'chute' guys, then they can't play unbelievable surveillance with their non existant radios (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
(got to doubt that they grab radio from the plane when they bail)
Then we can whine more about planes killing poor chutes (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Fishu is right - it is very often hard to scare up support to do anything even halfway organized: defend a field, capture a field, or even intercept what is an obvious HQ raid making a beeline right to the city/HQ. (and good suggestion to nix radio for the guys in silk)
If there is someone on one side monitoring conversations and relaying the info to their home country, I think it would be well known. Maybe it is a squad the specializes in stopping big missions but I doubt it. Bet is was just dumb luck.
Actually I think the big missions are better for the sim and lead to matchups more like the SEA. See a big group launch from a field then try and climb to meet and engage before they can do damage. Been on a number of those and they are fun.
But if it is spying, probably the best thing to do is as was already mentioned - be careful who you fly with and don't let word out on the country channel.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

You could test the spy theory.
Put a mission up on the planner. Tell a lotta people. Then run your real mission planned over email shortly after the feint starts, see if there isn't a mass of enemies waiting for the first raid and none for the second.
Even if there are spies the mission planner would still serve a purpose...making them look silly (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Westy dam you beat me here. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Guys spy fact of life.
I would be more inclined to think there flying 2 sides.
Either in my book is ok.As long as you pay.
This game with its 2 free weeks alows for guys to rotate names.
It allows you to run two.Flying this way makes this game easier. You always know what a safe alt is and who your playing against.
If you kill your 2nd account you scum!
This has been a prob in my opinion with all flight sims ive played.
Better not to worry about it its been going on for a long time.
