-
One of those too many buff dweebs who fly NOE and city drop at 500ft because they cannot hit squat from higher!
-
ploesti
the mission that earned the most medal of honor awards in a air mission in history if i remember correctly
:)

B-24 Liberator

Tidal Wave B24.
I talked with one of the pilots shot down in that mission.

Does look like pretty small chances of survival if being shot down that low.
No time to use a chute.. only hope is that the plane comes down without killing the crew onboard.
-
he crash-landed in a field and became a POW.I believe that counts as being shot down :)
I remember his name...Worden Weaver. really nice old man.
weird coincidence, when I was flying back from where I met him, I got seated next to an old lady who's brother had been shot down over Yugoslavia after bombing Ploesti.Unfortunately he was kiled.
