Title: Virus Alert - Bugbear (June 4th)
Post by: beet1e on June 06, 2003, 04:39:21 AM
I've had two viruses this year, and now someone has tried to send me a third. It came through on an email attachment - file name song.scr. Norton Symantec Anti Virus did not detect it, but the email looked suspicious and so I updated my virus definitions manually, and than ran a scan. Sure enough - a new version of the Bugbear virus - a worm virus that spreads through networks via shared folders. It was only discovered on June 4th. Watch out for it.

Rgr that, Minus. But this is a new version of it, released only on Wednesday of this week. To all who have a virus protection program in place (I hope that's everyone) be sure to do an explicit virus definition update, rather than relying on any automatic update feature of your virus protection software.
