Yeah yeah likely been done...
Most flight sims may have some saving grace... but one stands out in my mind as having NONE...
Flight of the intruder... oops fergot.. the only thing good about it, was that it came with the novel...

this is a tough one...you tend to forget the bad ones...Ka-50 Hokum maybe, but then again I don't care much about helicopter sims, except for DIs Apache.
Advanced Tactical Fighters was annoyingly unrealistic and graphics weren't that good either

The flying aspect of WW2OL...end of discussion. Without a doubt it is the worst flying code I have ever seen.

There's one on the PS2 that is awful. Pretty graphics but that's about it.
The air part of WW2OL is just poor by modern standards, but I've played worse.
Flight of Intruder was hopeless.

Udet, I flew my first online coop with ATF, it WAS the sh$t. Period. I could not believe my friend on a same bad modem was there in front of me. I did a tard airshow because someone was ACTUALLY there. Things have come a long way indeed.
Still, ATF rocked.

NOOOO how could you say that? I spent countless hours on my old 486 playing that game. The graphics sucked a bit.... ok alot. But it game play was kinda fun..... ehhh ok maybe not.... well ok then it sucked...
Really the one I think that takes the cake as the worst flight sim ever didnt come out that long ago, yet it looks like somthing that belongs on flopy.

When you rolled the plane and then centered the stick you had to add opposite stick to counter the momentum of the roll. And I don't mean a little opposite stick either.

WB 2.6 had its issues, but it was still entertaining.
If you put 2.6 against the air combat part of WW2OL, WW2OL beats it hands down in every category.
Oh, and killing yourself with a joystick? You think that's bad. I've killed my pilot with the trim tabs.
Unbelievable.

Aces High, by far.
Its riddled with bugs, uber planes (come'on, the LA7 and N1K2 are WAY too UFO :mad: and the comunity is a bunch of stunninghunks.

same here dinger died while trimmimg. I entered black out then stayed there even when I released back pressure. The the ole' skull and cross bones. I ended flight and my 110 was doing endless loops.
You can make fun out of most games despite how bad they are. But wwporkonline is just downright sorry.

The game with the modified B-52 was called Megafortress. I got that as part of an 8 cd set which also included Heros of the 357th.
Say what you want but for a kid who knew nothing about realism I thought those sims were great and Hero's is what got me into WWII planes. Nothin like flyin a P-51 into the Effiel Tower
ATF was great fun. I'm great friends with someone now because we started playing that over the modem back during my freshman year in high school (he was a senior)
There has been a couple of really bad sims out there but i can't think of any that come to mind right out.

ROFL! WB 2.6 had issues -that's like saying that we had a bit of political trouble in the years 1939-45. :p
WB 2.6 was fine, if you were happy to fly around with guns loaded with blanks. B&Z dropped out of the equation, as there simply was not enough time to fire the necessary 40-50 cannon rounds to get a kill before it was time to pull up again. My last sortie in 2.6 was when I emptied most of my 190A4 cannon into a zeke, and merely caused a fuel leak.
Upgrading from P266 to AMD 450 made a big difference. That was the way with WB - you always had to upgrade, but sometimes they (iEN) wouldn't tell you!

JV44 without a doubt. NES gfx along with non-existing FM. Awful user interface, etc., etc. I wonder how they did the "screenshots" on the package...

I kinda like "Flight of the Intruder" - maybe that's because I loved the movie at that time (which is also trash by my standards now).
WW2O certainly had/has some serious flaws but once you got used to the flying part wasn't THAT bad.
Rowans BoB was actually quite fun - the viewing system sucked beyond recognition but it was entertaining enough to draw me away from AH a while. DM was very detailed for that time (= pre IL2 era) and the setting alone makes it worthwhile playing... :)

I just flew WW2OL this morning. I fly in real life as well and the flight model is not unrealistic. Landings are fairly real but the plane does not wreck when you ground loop it.
I always get 50 fps plus. If you fly into a big battle you get drop outs but I mostly avoid the 100 plus attacker sized fights and stick to the smaller ones.
I hate the blackouts when you pull up too hard in a 109F but I have never killed myself doing it.
The have improved the graphics and you see the plane you are attacking start to leak coolant or catch fire. I have a blast in there.
I would not say it is the worse flight sim ever. Not even close. There are scores of POS out there.

it's the same with AH.when I flew my 2 weeks thrial over a year ago, the framerate was decent in the MA in any situation. After I subscribed this March, having the same system, except with more RAM, it would turn in a slideshow in large furballs over fields.
Good thing I have a new computer now:D

I am somewhat suprised WW2OL was mentioned in here unless it was just to piss a few people off. At least it had some innovative stuff in it like the ground texture at low alt. Though... the rest of the flight stuff can be described as bland and buggy at best (especially initial release). There are quite a few games that contributed absolutely nothing to the genre.

B-1 Nuclear Bomber by Avalon Hill was a text-only flight simulator. It was bad.

ok...some sims have poor FM but nice graphics and atmosphere (think Top Gun). some the exact opposite-A10 Cuba, with poligon graphics, but good FM,complexity and atmosphere. Some have both, more recent additions Il2, Falcon4.

WEll, "Bad" is said in many ways
there's "Bad" as "Banal" or otherwise uninteresting stuff.
but to be really bad, it has to be ambitious. WW2OL had that. Yeah, it's cool when your 20 feet off the ground, hopping trees and villages that are rushing beneath you.
It's really bad when this, "most realistic of flight sims" kills your for double-tapping the down trim button. Or when the most popular dogfighting move is dragging the enemy over a city, so that FPS make further combat impossible. Or when they start your plane in the hangar and require you to taxi out, with a ridiculous ground handling model. Or where you still can't bail out of anything.
I'm sorry, you can enjoy it, and I'll concede it was extremely ambitious, and that it was a lot worse when large numbers of people were playing that sim. But it's got to be among the worst.

what did you think of the graphics? I think they are pretty good even for today's standards. And the system requirements weren't that high for when it appeared. The graphics engine, IMO, was a real gem.

Back when JSF the terrain graphics were state-of-the-art.
It probably had the best graphics of any genre. It wasnt a bad sim either.
Problem with it was that the missions sucked, and they dumbed down the controls and flight model.
There have been many, many worse, including B-17 II, Back to Baghdad III (who paid $100 for that piece of junk?), and Team Apache (*shudders*)

Back To Baghdad (don't remember a III on it) was a dog of a game. It did have one very cool feature though... you could set up a 2nd monitor for a status display. Combine that with a plug and play system that Buzz had laying around his office and you could actually make a control panel like a real F-16.
