Title: Anyone else sunburned today?
Post by: Curval on June 09, 2003, 12:08:07 PM
Been a while since I have been fried in the sun.

I took great care in ensuring the kids were well lathered with sunscreen...forgot about lil ol' me.

The morning shower was interesting.  I forgot I was burned and had the temperature where I usually put it, on HOT.  I just about hit the cieling when the water hit my back.

I hate sunburn!  I have a liberal supply of SPF30 located in each car and all the sports bags.

GL, and use aloe!

I played in an all-day volleyball tournament in the sun on Saturday.  The only soreness I had was a skinned knee and tired muscles.  Gotta love SPF 30 waterproof/sweatproof Coppertone Waterbabies sunscreen.  ;)

Yeah, I second the aloe treatment at the end of the day.  It really takes the sting out of the sunburn.  If you really want to cool down quickly, keep a bottle of it in the refrigerator.

I usually get my one sunburn outta the way... (this time of the year actually! argh it's coming)... after that I'm nice and crispy for the rest of the summer.  I eventually turn white once again in the fall.  I love wisconsin weather :p

I cut strips from the Aloe plant outside and squeeze the raw juice on the burn.  Instant relief.  Doesn't help for hot water in the shower though.  :)

Sunburn?  Whats that?  Matter of fact... whats "sun?"

We had 23 days of rain in May... this is the first day of "sun" in June (sun = not raining/overcast).

The weather here has been screwy for the past year... hope it improves quickly - we're almost halfway through June and it still feel like frikken March.

I WANT A GOOD BURN!!!!

Russian, you're Honor Guard?  Were you holding one of the flags or just one of the rifles?

I feel bad for the guys here (RAF Lakenheath) who have to do it, because they have to hold it out there through both the British and US National Anthems.

And, just to stay somewhat on topic, there's no damn sun in this country.

Hehe...was waiting for someone from the Sunshine State to say something like this.

I am a local, but I work in an office.  My face, arms and legs are very tanned, mostly from riding a moped/scooter to work every day.

The rest of my body tends to stay very tourist like until early June, which is about the time I start to take the kids swimming on a daily basis, after work, and on weekends.  This past weekend was the first really hot sunny one, so as a result of not putting on some sort of protection I got fried.  The big difference between me and a lilly white tourist is that my burn fades to tan very quickly while theirs peels of in strips.

We used to have a good chuckle at the pink whales on the beaches.  I've seen some pretty bad cases of sunstroke result from people who fall asleep.

About this time every year I like to go to Busch Gardens or Sea World and watch the 2-tone tourists walking around - red on front, red on back, pastey white on the sides. :)

I did a volleyball tournament last Saturday, got another one this Saturday, and another one the Saturday after that.  By the end of the month, I'll really be feeling the kiss of the sun.
