“The MA Died”
by Sabre (sung to the tune of “American Pie”)
A long, long time ago
I can still remember how this simulation made me smile.
And I knew if I had my chance,
I could make those hit-sprites dance,
And maybe I’d be happy for a while.
But pizza maps just make me shiver
With every bomb load I deliver.
MA gang-bang vultch-fests!
How can I show I’m the best?
Oh, I still recall the simple fun
When foes would fight instead of run.
But I hung up my Hispano guns
The day the MA died.
Chorus:
My, my, seems the MA has died.
All the dweebs have taken over.
Channel 1’s filled with whines.
The good old sticks have kissed the whole thing goodbye
Saying, “HiTech used to be a good guy.”
“HiTech used to be a good guy.”
Oh, HiTech built the game we loved,
Filled with Mustangs, Spits, and other stuff,
We had faith in his great love…
Of World War Two fought in the air,
When planes had props and pilots dared
To engage the enemy until the death
Oh I know that you once felt the same.
You took the risk and played the game.
We never shot at chutes.
Now the kiddies are running loose.
Yeah, we were the kings of the beta test,
And the newbies never stood a chance.
Now they’re in charge; it’s a different dance,
And now, the MA’s died.
This simulation’s lost its way,
With strato-buffs flying up in space.
But that’s not how it used to be.
When the HTC staff was seen on-line,
And Pyro even took the time
To tell us when the next release would be.
Now the hanger’s filled with hanger queens,
And people here are talking mean.
Just what are we to do
While we wait for Aces High Two, ooh!
As I dodge another poor gun pass,
And hand another wet-nosed dweeb his ass,
Would it be all that much to ask
Could we please change this map?
I saw HiTech; he’s looking blue,
And I asked him for some happy news.
He just frowned and said, “Two weeks.”
I tried the CT, cause I’m bored.
Where I thought the thrill might be reborn.
But the place was filled with fur balls, just the same
(Look, there’s Shane!)
And on the BBS we scream
The dweebs all cry and the old hands dream.
When last had Pyro spoken?
The comm-pipes all are broken.
Now the game that I admired most
Looks more like Quake, and that’s no joke.
Guess I’ll go drive a PT boat.
And watch the MA die.
My, my, seems the MA has died.
All the dweebs have taken over.
Channel 1’s filled with whines.
The good old sticks have kissed the whole thing goodbye
Saying, “HiTech used to be a good guy.”
“HiTech used to be a good guy.”
My, my, seems the MA has died.
All the dweebs have taken over.
Channel 1’s filled with whines.
The good old sticks have kissed the whole thing goodbye
Saying, “HiTech used to be a good guy.”
“HiTech used to be a good guy.”

Aces High Rhapsody
(Sung to the tune of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”)
This isn’t real life,
It’s MA fantasy.
Caught in a furball;
My escape from reality…
Open your eyes
To what virtual skies can be.
I’m just a Spit-Dweeb;
I get no sympathy,
Because it’s “easy come, easy go.”
“Shoot him high, shoot him low.”
Anyway my rounds go,
Doesn’t really matter to me…to me.
HiTech, just fried a Dweeb.
Lined my shot up pulling lag,
Pulled my trigger now he’s fragged.
Goodbye Mister Newbie,
It’s time to diiieeee,
Better leave your plane behind and hit the silk…
Oooo…Ooo, ooooh
I don’t want to die;
Sometimes I wish I’d never logged on at all,
Carry on, carry on. Nothing else does matter.
I’m just a Spit-Dweeb,
No body loves me.
(He’s just a Spit-Dweeb,
With a slow computer.
Spare him his life from the gang-bang pilots’ glee)
I’m just a little silhouette’o of a dweeb
Get away, son, get away!
Keep your hands off Daddy’s keyboard!
Thunderbolts and Lightnings
Very, very frightening, EEH!
Watch me H.O. Watch me H.O.
Watch me H.O. Here I go.
Hispano fire is a devil of a sight
To see. To see. To MeeeeeeEE!
Nothing else can matter,
‘Cept one more kill for me.
Nothing really matters…
Nothing really matters,…to…me.
(Any way my rounds go…)

Both very well written. Bravo!

I know someone who might sing this for us. ;)
I will check with her this weekend.
Well done sabre!

Actually, I've been told I've got a half-way decent singing voice. I've thought about doing a recording of these (made a CD of songs for my wife...anniversary present), but just haven't found the time. I keep hoping one of these years the hotel were we hold the AH convention will have Karaoke:D.
HEY! We should get together and sing this at the Convention banquet this year? Who's with me?

(re: American Pie parody)
Bravo, Sabre, encore!
Now, if anyone could point me in the direction of a decent WW2 air combat flight simulation rather than an arcade game with WW2 plane look-alikes, I'd be grateful...
