so is there any way to block individual addresses from my computer?

You could try going through the Tools section of IE. When you hit Tools---->Internet Options. From there I know you can block cookies for crap mail. It has really helped me eliminate about 90% of the stuff my ISP has a hard time cathcing up with in there blocking software.

thx, but not exactly what I'm looking for.  it's not the pop-ups.

my kid started playing ever-crack a few years ago.  his grades went to crap.  so I deleted the game from our system.

the problem is he stays in touch with the group (clan, whatever) and plays the damn game at freinds houses.

I find whenever I go out of town he's using the computer here to develope characters and plan when he can meet others by using freinds pc's.

what I'm looking for is some way to block my browser (ie 6) from going to the chat pages and other EQ related sites.

basicly something where I can enter in an adress and my browser wont go there anymore.

at least two ways to do this...  one is to block those websites using the internet options tools... but....  easily fixed/bypassed by anyone with a clue.

the second would be to create a user defined account using your admin powers to limit various features and web access and then password protect your (admin) account, and make your son use his user-defined account...

or simply... if he always does it while you're away, password protect your windows logon so he can't use it while ur away.

I tried listing them in internet options with no luck (they are listed there but you still vcan go to the pages)

I don't really want to mess with the different log-ons.

the only thing I've found that works is listing them as pop-ups in pop-up stopper.  this works but since that program doesn't have password protection he can simply remove them from the list when he figures out thats what is blocking.

then my 3rd option is simplest to use whil eyou're away... make whatever logon you have now password protected... no need ot change any variable settings...  so when you're away, you can lock it down without having to worry he'll be on it behind your back.

or simply have a talk to give and give him alternative carrots and sticks about his use of your computer and the internet.

tried that one non-stop for awhile, just getting tired.  plus the rest of the family still needs to use the system.  and likely one of them would eventually be talked into logging him on.

man I hate that game  Ever Quest is the devil.

Start-->Run this command (replace http://www.e3girls.com with site you want block) :

echo 216.239.51.100 [url]www.e3girls.com[/url] >> C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Repeat as needed. This may not work immediately if you just visited the site, but certainly will after reboot. May not work against smart kid though :D

And always double check that you have two ">" symbols, not one.
