What a moron

Actually, he seems to have recovered very well. I bet Clinton would have landed on his fat, lying face.

Boy, he sure is a moron! He fell. What kind of idiot actually falls down, I mean really?!

well considering the fact that the segway was designed not to tip over and be self righting I'd say he is a moron.
-
Hey SOB....
The last picture there... Kinda looks like that "add-a-spring-to-yer-step-and-parlay-it-into-a-slight-jog-as-if-you-meant-to-do-this" manuever that you were talkin' about, eh? :D
-
I rode a segway, and I almost got flipped off of it because of PIO. That's right, ladies, the same thing that has killed many-a-testpilot can happen on a Segway. I leaned forward, then lost my courage and leaned back as it began to adjust for my leaning forward. When it shifted back, I lost my balance and leaned forward again, it responded, etc. The pilot induced oscillations got worse and worse (over a period of 2 or so seconds) before I got it under control by relaxing.
-
Yep he was "runnin' it off".
-
lol and there's actually a word for it. cool. :)
-
Btw., my 1st thought in seeing Bush fall off a Segway wasn't "what a moron".... who cares? It was "First it's carrier traps and now he gets to tool around on one of those Segways - what a lucky bastige".
-
Yep that's what I was thinking too. "That sumsqueak gets all the cool toys!"

Pfunk, why are you such a dipsh*t?

I just wonder if that segway was called "Segway 1" while he was riding on it.
-
LOL Nash, that's the one! Even the pres has to play it out. :D
SOB
BTW...Pfunk, you didn't actually answer Yeager's question.

If you want to call Bush an idiot, just come right out and say it. But to suggest that he's an idiot for simply falling off a Segway? Oy.

It never ceases to amaze me at how people interpret what was an attempt at tounge in cheek humor as something more that what it is. Take it at face value instead of bringin your own agenda into it. And Yeager why are you so Golly-gee concerned about me? Surely you have something better to do than to spew your personal attacks at someone you have never even met.

(1) "What a moron" does not strike me as tongue in cheek. Subsequent comments by you do not indicate a tongue in cheek attitude at all.
(2) What would you consider my "own agenda?" Hmm? Please enlighten me. That way, when you call me a conservative wackjob, I can hang it right next to Cabby posts calling me a lefty liberal.
(3) If you were to truly see this at face value, you'd just see a guy falling off a Segway without reading intellect into it.

FWIW: I think he is the first documented person to ever fall off a Segway.
On second look, seems like the Segway was unpowered. Even if the rider falls off it, its supposed to right itself. So it probably wasnt Chimpy's fault.
Jizz snorting warmonger nazi, oil stealing murderer lying thief criminal terrorist, etc, etc.

Soo.. did he actually buy it or was it given to him... as a bribe?

Whats a segway?

Pfunked gets an honorary induction into the Beat Down Posse by callsign affiliation, GW Bush gets jetted into his fathers birthday party to play on super sweet toys.
I see a social class separation that just isn’t fair, not someone that is calling the President a moron for not being Tony Hawk on a Segway his first attempt .
Jesse, back me up on this one.

Bush 1 (George H. W. Bush) has had at least one hip replacement. I imagine that he bought the Segway to avoid some walking and Bush 2(George W. Bush) decided to try one out without reading the stinking instructions.

I wouldn't ride a Segway.
My grad school research subject was a small robot which had very similar dynamics. You have an inherently unstable system, which you use sensors and a computer and electric motors (and some fancy math) to stabilize. It's really cool when it works. But if the controller tuning was off slightly, or if something went wrong with the motor or drivetrain, or something else unusual happened, the robot's attempts to stabilize itself could make it flail around like crazy, fast and hard enough to break your arm if you got in the way.
Therefore we always used a dead man switch, which you could release if something bad happened, and the computer would stop trying to stabilize the robot. Of course when you released the switch, the thing would just flop over...
I don't see any reason that the Segway would not be subject to the same problems. When it gets into one of these bad situations it is either going to behave badly, or the controller will be smart enough to realize it is in trouble and it will stop trying to stabilize. Either option seems likely to result in the rider doing a face plant.
I'll stick to my bicycle with good old manual/gyroscopic stabilization, thank you very much.

..and Bush is somehow better.
US economy was going up during Clintons years and now it's been going down with Bush, unarguably hes had his effect on it.
Well.. maybe the world being "safer" makes right for it.
Bush administration is bunch of hypocrits.
To name couple best known issues: osama who? "I couldn't care less.." and all the WMD hype in order to make right to attack Iraq..according to all the hype, some WMD should of been found already.
Obviously oil has nothing to do with it either - US somehow has an effect on the Iraq's oil flow at the current... definately not the kind Bush was while ago advertising it as, aka "Oil of the Iraqis".
Did I forget to mention the oil flow is at good shape to turkey, except for couple pipes which incidentally blew up couple of days ago.
Oh.. and turkey of course has nothing to do with US on the matter, thats redikulus.
...and what are the iraqis getting for it? thats yet another hypocritical issue to discuss...
Sure sure.. Bush is doing better than Clinton, especially if you're expecting to strenghten the position of US as a super military power.
Looks like US is at good rate becoming the next soviet union kind of super power relying on the 'peace through war' doctrine.
Remember one thing: it took decades for germany to become facistic and before people noticed somethings wrong, it was too late.
Theres nothing stopping US from becoming an evil super power.
(of course citizens of nazi germany or soviet union never saw them as evil.. ironically the allies were thought to be evil, just like we think of communism as evil - the grass indeed is greener on the other side)
Oh.. almost forgot, if it would be any other country than certain western countries, Bush would be the neightbour for Milosevic.

I never said anything about Bush Fishu, stop trying to divert attention from someone's foibles because you want to have his babies.
As for the economy, you think Clinton had some magical powers that made the economy good for roughly 7 years of his term?
He got to be president right around the time the internet hit the high road and the dot com businesses popped up everywhere. Gave all kinds of people jobs. That made the economy.
Dot coms failed, economy crashed like a ton of bricks at the end of his presidency and Bush inherited the overflooded job market.
Don't buy into all the hoopla that Clinton actually had his hands in making the economy great - he just got real lucky.

Everyone knows why the economy got good during the Clinton administration. Let's send a busloads of Monicas to the Whitehouse and see if it don't get good again. My bet is that it would if they'd loosen up and screw someone other than the taxpayers.
-
Evidently you nor Fishu know why the economy got good during Clinton's presidency, as I just stated it right there in that paragraph above.
Amazing the correlation that can be seen between the economy getting better and dot coms popping up everywhere and then the economy getting worse as the dot coms fail. Its almost like they had a direct influence on the economy.
It had nothing to do with Clinton banging his intern.

No, what I read was unsubstantiated hearsay with no factual evidence to back it up except for a "unarguably he's had an effect on it". The only thing unarguable about what you said is that you don't understand how the economy works and what actually can cause it to go down the drain.
9/11, overflooded job markets from failed dot coms and now the failing airline industry, less job retention security, and of course this leads to less consumer spending and investment.
But of course, Bush is to blame for all of the above... atleast in your mind.
-SW
-
Have you ever thought you may have a problem with understanding the read context?
Once again, I have not blamed Bush for all the economical down hills, it would be stupid to do.
So, I'll repeat myself once again: Bush is only making it worse from what it could be, with better administration.
-
It is legend that Einstein fell down an open manhole... what a moron.
-
Changed my post: I don't want to even get into trying to explain to you how it isn't Bush that is making the economy worse, he's not- the reluctance on the behalf of the population to spend money and invest is one of the main reasons the economy isn't doing well, hence the constant "tax returns" and other "tax breaks" the working class have been receiving over the past couple of years. It is to jump start the economy through investment AND through spending.
The other problem is the lack of jobs for both the IT industry and the airline industry, and the overflooded market of people whose career choice was one of those areas.
My original statement was about Clinton anyway, you just turned it around into a "Well Bush is..." because you can't defend Clinton based on his own merits.
Clinton and his administration was NOT responsible for the booming economy - the surplus of jobs AND the massive investments going on in these new fields generated the great economy, NOT Clinton or his administration. THAT's why the economy is in the toejamter, and was already well on it's way during Clinton's 2nd to last year- and had arrived in the septic tank right at the end of his 2nd term.

It is SO nice to see some folks actually paid attention in Economics!
Bush is not responsible for this one, Clinton was not responsible for the economic times during his administration...and so on, and so on.
To think the current president has any more than a "drop-in-the-bucket" effect on the economy of his time is [Drumroll] Simply Redikulous![/Drumroll]
-
I'm not even going to pretend that I know what I'm talking about when it comes to the economy, what ails it and what remedies are available Swulfe...
You're absolutely right that there are a number of factors that go into why the economy is tanked at the moment... just as you mentioned, the failed dot coms, 9/11, etc. And yeah, all are outside the president's control. However...
Despite the fact that he isn't directly responsible for it, you can't say that he is powerless to influence or affect it, and therefore outside of any blame (or credit) that goes along with it. The tax breaks being just one example of something that the president can do to steward the economy. Another president might not have chosen to go that route, or may have chosen a different kind of tax break.
I guess what I'm saying is... I hear all the time how Bush isn't responsible for the weak economy... but I don't buy that completely. In part, but not completely. He certainly is having an effect on it, and only time will tell if the fixes that he prescribes are the right ones.
Btw., does anyone know... The tax breaks that went through a year and a half ago (or so...)... Were there any estimates on when the effects of that were going to be felt by the economy, and to what degree they were supposed to stimulate it? I'm sure there were projections - does anyone remember or have a link that talks about this and if the tax breaks lived up to expectations?
-
Right, but Fishu is saying Bush is making it worse... can this even be proven?
So far, what we have seen is several tax breaks, stimulating the failing airline companies in several different ways so as to not create more job loss in that field, researching a new fuel source which creates new jobs because this field was until recently not as well funded, and the creation of a new homeland security department that while it was in direct relation to the recently exposed threat the US faces on it's own soil - it still created new jobs both in that department and in departments from which some employees were removed for the homeland security department.
This is being done in the face of millions of lay offs in the airline industry and the millions of unemployed, or poorly employed, IT specialists and other employees of defunct dot com businesses, and the reluctance on the behalf of the entire american population to invest and spend money because the economic future is - as of right now - unsure.
What I'm getting at is, I'm certain no administration would be having a positive influence on the economy on the rate many people think it should happen - as in going from a wallowing economy to a blooming/booming one. Simply put, that toejam just ain't gonna fly.
The US economy was in "The Great Depression" for several years, and despite the fact that there was atleast one great president/admin in power at the time- it took a world war, and the vast production lines that would require, to pull the US out.
So, in conclusion, presidents can have influence on an economic recession... but what kind of influence has Bush really had? As of yet, I have seen no evidence provided to support the claim that he's had a negative impact on an already faltering economy.
-SW
