I can't get the 2nd hat to work on my new X45 on this XP machine. I have the n/s/e/w views key mapped. I think I am missing something in setting up the joystick when I move hat 1 I see it regester but moving hat 2 doesn't regester any visiable place. HELP:confused:

so you have xp, did you install the saitek programming software? Does the switch work in xp's control panel? where are you seeing switch one, but not switch 2?
1st, make sure drivers are installed. Install software first, during the install it will tell you to plug the stick in, don't plug stick in before install (you can delete the stick's software with control panel, uninstall software).
2cnd, calibrate in xp. If the switches work in xp then you should be able to get them in AH.
OUCH, just notice your name: I won't ask what it is CanDoKevin can't do ;)
Saitek is a good stick, you will like it once you get it working...you will like much better with rudder pedals though!

Have rudder peddals working. I installed basic software to get stick going (just drivers) Works in XP not in AH. Well let me be more detailed when I move the second hat in AH it makes buttons B15 thur B18 blink in AH key mapping. Haven't messed with it any in the last 2 days.
Oh and I Can Do it might just take awhile to figure out so was looking for help.

did you try making the second hat "report as" the first hat? right click on the hat 2 programming box in saitek profile manager, select report as, then select hat 1. Your upper hat should act like your primary hat. You can then do the same for the primary, and make it act like the secondary. Shoule make your stick setup life easy.
other than the default views, I have all stick programming done in the saitek software rather than ah, a bit easier to manage imho.
Just kidding you on the can do thingy:D

I had the same issue and was a bit lazy...so i mapped "pinkie" button as "up" view and use the 1 hat for 16 views...works so well I never messed with it. I use the 2nd hat for chk 6, toggling sec weapons etc. I've found that getting all the views on the one hat makes SA a bit easier...also keeping con in view in a knife fight vs old way of using two hats.

I use an "up" key, the big orange one on the throttle. My 8 oclock hat view is the up front view, so I if I need to scan high I hit UP then scan around, works great. I write off looking down, the bottom of my cockpit isnt very interesting.

I've got push hat (hat up) set to look at cockpit and pull hat (hat down) to look forward-up.

I didn't install Saitek profile software just drives maybe this is why I don't see the second hat ?

Could be. If you install the profiler software and program your stick there then you just load the profile (you DO need to save the profile once you create it). Load the profile before flying, then when you hit a button or hat the active profile will kick out the keystroke you programmed for that switch position, just like if you mapped it in the game.
