OK Guys, I successfully created a 1024 X 1024 bmp, copied it into the texsrc folder, then converted it using AKbmp2map. I even Used the build and create map in TE to make sure it is working OK. Some issues! When I converted it, I converted it to 128 X 128. When I take off from my only airfield, the clipboard map shows the airfield several miles NE (in fact it is in the channel between my countries). As I fly, I fly off the clipboard map way before I ever even reach the coast on the "real" terrain. I tried to change the size of the bmp to the size I want the terrain to be, but it pixilated really badly.
The other issue is that the clipboard map is still in the 256 color mode. All I see are the higher elevations. Do I have to edit and create textures and colors on my bmp for use on the clipboard?
It would help if I knew how the file system in TE & AH were used. Is the bmp in the texsrc folder directly used on the clipboard? If I selected 128 X 128 in bmp2map, shouldn't it convert both CB map and terrain to the same size? ?????

When you change the size of your terrain, you are NOT changing the scale of it, you are cropping the terrain.
HOWEVER! The CB is scaled down, not cropped.
Answer: Crop the CB image so it will fit the terrain.
