Dang Buzkill, I had the same damm problem with my athlon. And i forgot what the hell i did. I think I made sure i had a 300 watt power supply, but there is a special program that sets your agp transfer rate to 1x. That is the key I believe. yes, I would try that first. I will look for it, but i dont think I have it anymore. My athlon puter shot craps and that is where it is.
it was the something something 4 in 1 drivers. maybe somebody can refresh my memory here.
Any way, you may have it already, just make sure your agp is set to 1x. Not 2x or 4x.

i think i ran into that 4 in 1 thing right before i got the e mail from here...didnt dl but am going to...thanks
-
it's via hyperion 4 in 1 driver pack and it was what i needed. agp drivers were out of date and conflicting with the new hardware...i can fly again:D

 I actually got one right. :D

Watch athlons and temperatures. I have had serious lock up probs till I got an extra case fan. My 1800+ CPU is not happy over 40oC. I suspect I was an early adopter and there were temp issues with early XP's

What are you talking about 40°C
Thats NORMAL UNSTRESSED operating temp for Athlons. Are you refering to case temp (with much higher CPU temp)? Current athlons are rated in the 85-90° range fpr thermal tollerance. Heck mine hits 39° before windows completes booting

im still only using 750m proccesor, 256 ram. card has own fan, accually run at 45c avg. for most apps.
-
 ow. more RAM.. more RAM. more RAM. that's what I'd have to say. 128 isn't really enough - I'd suggest a minumum of 256 MB RAM (preferably with boards that support DDR RAMs), and 512 MB RAM is my personal minimum.
-
would...mother board won't support any higher(almost blew $100 on new 512 before i checked it out)
and this thing runs operation flashpoint and ghost recon great so i see no probs. well maybe the 55 deg. and the fact i have to exit both games and reload after 2 or 3 boards.
