lol they're both mine ;)
If I'm gonna try to put it in the garage I need to get the door spring tightened.

Syzygyone thats a sweet pic lol, I dont care what your driving a head-on with anything roughly same size/weight as you is going to do reciprocal damage. Although it looks like the H2's frame faired better. I'd expect the hood to shatter as it is fiberglass.

CHances are...if he just bought this H2 recently, some of those quality control issues are addressed in the later build-date autos.  That was the case with my July-build car (they start production for the following year usually in August/Sept)

Just looked it up.. only two minor issues (recalls) with the early-build 2003 Hummers.

Yeah, I know, I was j/k.  They are waaaaay cool.  I wanted an original but wife said No Wway!  So when the H2 came out, I had hope.  But, alas, college tuition came along !  Dang!

The pic shows that the personnel cab survived largely in tact.  IIRC that collapsing front end thing was a design criteria taken from basic VOLVO concept.

Keep the shiney side up!

We have Hummers up here in Maine.  Brown.  None of that sissy boy stuff, the guys up here get em nice and dirty (and wow....very cool)

Nice car, when are you adding the 50 cal mount?  :p

Took it to San Antonio this weekend, wifies parents have some acreage in the hill country. lol there were some areas I wouldn't go through because of the brush. I just wish it rained more there wasn't any mud.

Sat in the H1 at the dealership, actually considered it for a moment, but the cost is to high for me. With my dad's GM employee discount I couldn't say no to the H2.

Anyone have a .50 in there closet they wanna sell cheap?

Don't let her drive it or you'll never get it back.

I lost my 4runner for 4 years that way.  Had to buy her an Xterra just to get my beach truck back.

Question: what are the handles on the hood for?  I was playing in a volleyball tourney this past weekend and they had an H2 set up for promo purposes.  I tugged on the handles on the black thingy in the hood but it wouldn't budge.  I was thinking it'd be a great place for a Hibachi. :p

I really like your H2 but damn GM just cant move beyond those cheap parts bin looking interiors, its really a shame as they make very good "cars" but they dont put the same thought into the interiors. This is really obvious in upmarket vehicles like this H2 and most shamefully the Corvette..

Yeah, we end up wrestling for it every morning :D

They're to open the hood, first you pull the latch release under the dash then undo the rubber latches on either side of the hood, then pull the hood open with those handles.

Didn't think to take pictures with the hood open.

Business Owner Chases, Runs Over Robbery Suspects In Hummer
Two Suspects In Critical Condition

"A business owner in Phoenix, Arizona took matters into his own hands after a group of men robbed his business, according to a Local 6 News report.

Police say three armed suspects walked into the Mr. Insurance building in Phoenix and demanded money. A fourth suspect was in the getaway car, according to the report.

Investigators said after the suspects left with the store's money, the co-owner jumped into his Hummer and chased after the suspects.

Police said that the man, identified only as Peter, followed the suspects through a neighborhood and eventually caught up with them. He then rolled his Hummer over their car.

Two of the suspects were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The two other suspects managed to get away but police later caught them as well.

It is not known if Peter will face charges. "

If a whiney, hand-wringing Liberal has anything to do with it he will.....

Why would you hope that an individual who has the freedom to use his vehicles the way he chooses that he use it the way YOU wish he use it?  I know fellow that has 10 cars, sitting in a custom garage, all in prestine condition....I'd love to take a few of them out for a spin, but you know what...they're collectables and he chooses to leave them parked.  I'd never consider telling him "Gee, I hope you use those cars as they were intended...." It would sound kinda dumb, like you. :)

I actually said it was a nice car, but don't let that stop your reactionary spiel.

And Ripsnort, I like to see cars do what they were designed to do. Nothing sounds better than a performance car stretching its legs, for example; it is aesthetically pleasing.

Another example would be observing a sail-boat skim across the waves on a breezy day compared to seeing it laid up in dry dock. Again, one is aethetically pleasing and the other isn't.

Let me know if you need any more examples to enlighten you.

It's kinda hard to get pictures of it off-road since everyone wants to be in it during the ride, and I don't trust my wife enough yet to drive it off-road while I standby to take pictures. When I do get some I will post them for your aesthetical pleasure.:D

If anyone has any links to quality control articles concerning this truck I'd appreciate it. I'd like to know what to look for and possibly do something about it before there is a problem.
I've been unable to find any so far while searching the web. Maybe I'm searching on the wrong keywords.
Maybe I can have the dealership take care of it as a warranty item.

So far I've only found a link where Nikko's scale 1/16 radio control H2 has issues.

Among individual brands, General Motors' popular Hummer scored dead last in J.D. Power and Associates' 2003 Initial Quality Survey. Buyers of the giant sport-utility vehicle apparently were surprised by its gas-guzzling ways.

Among brands, GM's Cadillac and Buick finished in the top five. But Hummer, the hot-selling big SUV inspired by the military Humvee and built off the Chevrolet Tahoe platform, scored 225 problems per 100 vehicles.

Corporate quality rankings...Toyota is #1, Porsche is #2, BMW is #3...

Yeah the gas milege is laughable, what *were* they thinking? But 225 problems per 100 vehicles...ruh roh....

I'm sure they've worked most of the quality control problems out by now..its always good to buy a late-season vehicle...never buy a vehicle in the first year of new inception is a good rule too.

The 2 recalls listed happened before mine was even built. 225 per 100 is counting the recall so not counting the recalls it's around 25 per 100. I also found a page with some "common problems" but they too seem outdated.

Yep, like I said, those problems show up early in any given year of production.  My 330 had a problem with cooling fans in the engine igniting and flaming the car! They swapped out the Siemens fans for Bosche fans about 1/2 thru the production cycle to fix the problem. ;)

Thats correct, its basically a list (facts and data) of defects (when a customer brings their car in for repair) while the car is under warranty...I personally see it as a sort of litmus test for long term quality issues.

Rip beat me to it. The NHTSA site is chock full of info on just about any make or model. All recalls of any kind must be submitted to NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Admin).

With the implementation of the TREAD Act, NHTSA will be administering the largest database in the government. Even bigger than the IRS.
