Title: Windtalkers…
Post by: eskimo2 on June 16, 2003, 05:33:18 PM
Would have been a bit better if Nicholas Cage would have shot maybe, say 40 more Japs.  Another 10 bayoneted/slit necks also would have helped.  It really lacked graphic dismemberment details as well.  I think Nick could have lost about 10 more leathernecks under his command, just for the sake of character development, I mean we barely got the idea that he was a little disturbed over his war experiences.

I’m really glad the writers only wasted about 2 minutes of film time showing the Navaho’s code training.  Good thing they didn’t bore us with minor details like: how the idea of using Navaho’s and their language as a military code came about, or how the code was developed and tested.  After all, I’m sure that everyone who saw this movie knows all about the code talkers, has read a few books and seen a few documentaries about them.  What a waste of time it would be to try to teach the audience anything when all they really want is to see Japs getting mowed down by the score.

No, it was much better to take such an amazing topic and boil it down to the theme, “What if an American had to kill an American to protect a valuable code?”  Spatter that with a lot of blood and guts, ignore amazing existing true-life stories, and you’ve got yourself one less than mediocre hit!

(Sorry if there already was a post on this, I’ve avoided the movie after hearing that it was disappointing, and just saw it last night.)

I hate Nicolas Cage anyway.  Can't act at all, and to hijack a movie about such an incredible story in the history of the world, so that he could again show the world how bad of an actor he was was just sickening.

Windtalkers...
What is that, a movie about somebody who can form words with their flatulence?

Probably the worst film in the last 50 years. I say that because I actually enjoyed Waterworld.

Although Pearl Harbor went beyond ignoring history to the point of rewriting it, at least they made some good footage of the Japanese launch and actual pearl harbor attack.  I think if you edited the crap out of Pearl Harbor you could end up with a decent 20 minute flick.

Edit windtalkers and you might be able to come up with a 30 second spot.

raising arizona was the only film that cage was in that he didn't ruin with his overacting.

I liked the action in windtalkers... I knew it was a john woo film fer chrissakes..

cage ruined it for me with his drama queen overacting.. bet he's a liberal.

MT... I  know a little about alcoholics I think...  I would say that cage was way over the top in that movie..  Even alkies aren't that dramatic or trajic... the guy is worse than worthless.

I found it fitting that he followed in michael jacksons footsteps on marriage.  the man is unstable... see if I'm not right.

Post by: GtoRA2 on June 18, 2003, 08:05:39 PM
lol I like all kinds of bad movies, but this was so bad I had a hard time finishing it, MY GOD IT SUCKED!

After we have had decent movies like SPR and awsome ones like Band of brothers, this was just lame, they could have done so much. What a joke.
