Lately as I try using my computer I've noticed it is taking longer to run programs & put icons onto shortcuts. Used to just pop icon graphics up quickly, but now, I sit & watch each icon get loaded. I did add MSN a few months ago, but deleted it shortly after that as I was not satisfied with the product. Other than this program, I haven't added any new programs in the last couple of months. It's real annoying when loading AH and waiting for the program to load, though I don't think AH created the problem.
Any suggestions on regaining lost speed would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Backup and Reformat, anyone that uses a computer alot does this ever 2-3months. Reason why it gets slow is disk get fragmented, adding MSN put crap in your registry which will slow down the computer etc. If you have a CD burner just back up all your important files and reformat that sucker you would be suprised at how much speed you have actually lost.

Just to give you an example when I Rip DVD's to my hard drive on a clean install it takes about 12 minutes, I havent reformated in the past two months and plan on doing it this weekend currently it takes me 25 minutes to do the same task. Adding and deleted programs, puts entries in the registry that even after an uninstall stay there, windows gets corrupted and has to do more work etc etc, even just normal use over time will slow a machine down and the only remedy is a clean format and install.
