Title: If you could go back in time....
Post by: JB73 on June 17, 2003, 03:03:02 PM: Would you get into video game development? (back in the late 80's early 90's)

i only ask because there's an article in todays paper (Milwaukee journal) about a workshop for HS students wanting to get into it.

you know even how "geeky" computers were back in the DOS days.... if i knew then what i do now (age old fantasy) i would definately get into it.

how about you?

Oh the timeline would really be screwed up. The things I know now that I didn't know then. Like how to utilize your hands when pass blocking or how to pull off the perfect jam and go from the defensive line. And how to slip you hand up a skirt without getting caught on the underwear. Knowing when to break it off with the crazy squeak before she pulls a gun on you. etc...

Be careful what you wish for. The hours are long and the stress can be intense. The money is pretty good. Not the most stable jobs you can have, even if you work for a very large company. Dealing with the press and fanboys can get old.

That said, do I miss it? Sometimes...mostly I miss the people I worked with. We had a great team, and some good times. I hated to leave them, but my family had to eat.

At the end of the day its indoor work with no heavy lifting. It's all good.

I remember reading in a Wired sometime before the bubble burst that a $10K investment in Microsoft in 1985 was worth (at the time) $2.2 Million. Not bad change.
