Signs that you have a bad AH Trainer:
- Trainer vulches you over and over again to teach ‘humility’
- Trainer gets himself muted for swearing
- Training flight consists of circling low over the airfield while the trainer explains, ‘this is how we hide in our ack’
- Trainer’s answer for all of your questions is: “Why? Because you suck, that’s why!”
- Trainer explains that he can double your bombing efficiency with his ‘pork and auger' method
- Trainer’s handle is ‘Mandoble’
- When instructing on Mustang vs. Spitfire tactics, trainer spends entire lesson running away from you
- Trainer asks what you are wearing

- thats dumb
- thats funny
- this is sad but true MA style
- thats not nice
- he is totally right about that. No way back. Faster new plane
- never expected it from him
- to teach u what MA pony driver doo
- u gave him ur phone number ?
-
I actually think Mandoble would make a decent trainer for Boom and Zoom. A while back I thought he was timid, but most of the sissies in the MA make him look like a rabid dog charging at you.

You forgot a few:
- Trainer is still on 2-week free trial
- Trainer only flies the Spitfire
- Trainer espouses the benefits of rum and coke prior to TOD
-

Trainer teaches you the "Alt F4" defensive maneuver.

No kiddin', everyone knows that scotch is the preferred pre TOD beverage.

I prefer whiskey before events, personally.

Bwahahahahahaha!!!! :D:D
Like a dope, I saw somebody say that it helps you back up on the carrier so I do it and get dropped to the dt. :o Nice one. My mouf was open.:p

At least you didn't drink any of that crap Runny endorses.
Or did you?
I seem to recall a TOD where I ripped the wingtip off my FW by scraping it against the reload shed, after everybody had to reload because somebody decided we didn't need those deadweight drop tanks. Getting that 1-and-a-half winged FW airborne after bouncing it across the airfield dirt, then actually getting up into a firing position behind the B-17 stream is a highlight of my Aces High career.
And then I learned that "The Howard Stern Show" comes on right about the time we're climbing up to altitude. I tend to lose the formation during form-up now.
Then "Wild On..." comes on right after it and now my SA is completely shot. :p

Actually, you can back up on the carrier by giving just a little bit of throttle. Works with the Corsair and Dauntless, at least. Look left or right and you should see the carrier deck going slightly faster than you.

Worked like a charm thanx dude. Arlo told me about it but I didnt understand what he meant. Thats an awesome move for gettin more runway. ;)

Argh ...
"Trainer's name is Arlo."

I've rolled off the assend of a carrier more than once after landing because I hadn't completely chopped throttle. Kinda irritating.

Remember, the carrier is going pretty fast. All you need to say to yourself is "match the speed, match the speed" as you get closer to the boat. Go full flaps early on and use the throttle to maintain your altitude. Imagine that you're trying to hover over the deck and eventually the plane will settle just right. Even if you miss the wires, if you're going slow enough you can still use your brakes to stop on the deck, then use the back-up trick to get back on the wires to reload.
Remember to raise your hook after you land if you want to take off again.
Of course, this only works for Rook carriers. On Knight and Bishop carriers the fantail has a lip that will grab your propeller and throw you into the ocean. :p

We'll be doin' plenty `o that. As a matter of fact .... the new training syllabus regarding carrier ops will probably involve alot of landings and takeoffs on turning flat-tops. :D
