The only reason it doesn't get a -5 on IMDB is that people must be voting ironically for it. It is truly bad bad bad bad.

Same database gave dumb and dumberer a 3.9 to wax's 4.5. Kangaroo Jack did get a 2.8 animal.
Still gonna have to go with it as worst ever!

Don't know if you heard about / saw it but Jim Carey was a guest on a British chat show a week or so ago, the Jonathon Ross show.
Dumb and dumberer was mentioned, Ross said he'd heard it sucked to which Carey stood up and celebrated.

I saw bits of that show Swoop. The fawning of Ross over Carrey made me want to puke; he ain't that funny.
Worst film in a serious kind of way was Catch-22... awful casting, awful ham-fisted acting.
Worst film I've seen in recent times would have to be that Father Fingered Freddy crap. Truly awful.
Of course Pearl Harbour ranks up there. As does Titanic. Although the Titanic sinking sequence redeems it somewhat.
-
American Pie 2.
-
Unless you're saying "Dumb and Dumberer" is the worst movie ever, you are quite simply wrong.
All movies have bad casting to some extent. Bad acting too. But at least they have some kind of redeaming value. Catch-22 had numerous funny moments. The Holy Grail has numerous bad moments in it. But at least you can point to them and laugh/ridicule then get on with the movie.
Dumb and Dumberer had zero redeaming value. Zero. I am a lesser person for having seen it... and I've never said that about any movie.
MiniD
-
Catch-22 murders the funny moments compared to how they are written in the book. It should never have been even attempted with that cast; in particular, Yossarian is played by a 35+ y/old when in the book he's in his early twenties. It was completely unconvincing - as WW2 aviation buffs, you'll know that officers of Yossarian's rank were typically 20 years old.
But I'm biased because I think Catch-22 is one of the best books ever written.
-
DO a search for "North" (Bruce Willis) No way was D+Derer worse than that movie.
I took a bunch of my younger cousins to see its in the early 90's - IIRC, Ebert wrote in the Chicago Tribune that it was the first movie he saw that he couldnt even justify a 1/2 star for.

Saw "Yor" as part of a double header with "Blue Thunder". Yor was capable of cult status. I could still find some kind of redeaming value to it. Its always fun to laugh at cheesy special effects.
"Cool World" was pretty bad too, but once again, you could find a moment in it.
Never saw "North".
"Tank Girl" was not that bad... not even in the running for worst ever.
You guys are just failing to realize that this is not a subjective matter. If you don't believe me... watch the movie. I know you can't believe it is worse than the movies you are listing, but it is.

CANNIBAL WOMEN IN THE AVOCADO JUNGLE OF DEATH
Rated PG-13 (There is nudity though.)
Copyright 1988 Gaucamolle Pictures.
Reviewed a long time ago.
The Characters
Dr. Margo Hunt - Shannon Tweed! Professor of Feminist Studies.
Bunny - Every liberated woman's nightmare, but she wants to be a feminist. This girl has more outfits than you can shake a stick at.
Jim - Bill Maher! Inept guide who once had a one night stand with Margo.
Dr. Kurtz - Another feminist, author of "Smart Women, Stupid Insensitive Men." Throws herself into a pool of Piranhas in the end.
Colonel Mattel - Head of the National Security Commission on Avocado Affairs. He has one eye.
Piranha Women - Savage feminists who believe men should be killed and eaten with guacamolle dip.
Barracuda Women - Savage feminists who believe men should be killed and eaten with clam dip.
The Plot
Talk about strange and wonderous things! This film is full of camp, not only is southern California transformed into wild avocado jungle but it is inhabited by man eating feminists! Shannon Tweed, whose breasts have starred in numerous films, is a teacher of women's studies! Then of course there is Bunny, this girl is every teenage guy's dream and every feminists nightmare - but she wants to be a progressive woman. There are plenty of little gags here and there, most of them involving Maher and Bunny being boneheads. Dr. Hunt is recruited by the U.S. Government to make liaison with the Pirahna Women and hires Jim as her guide. After encountering vicious hippos, catfish, and Donnahews (men who knit and cook) the explorers discover the Pirahna women are led by a savage ex-feminist and poised to wage war! Bunny nearly joins the cannibals but is unable to complete the initiation rite, which involves her making love to then consuming Jim. Everything works out in the end though, Kurtz is slain, Jim and Bunny marry, and Dr. Hunt returns to her college. A fun film with plenty of women running around in leather loincloths and tops.
Things I learned from this Movie
Most of southern California is virgin jungle.
Girls just want to tear men into strips and eat them with gaucamolle dip.
An hour and a half of feminine nonsense punctuated with half-nude women is tolerable.
Bill Maher is the last real man but he looks fairly effeminate in a white neck kerchief.
There are leopards living wild in California.
Lost female tribes speak French.
If given a choice between Bill Maher or Shannon Tweed in their underwear I would pick the latter.
Bunny has a damn lot of clothes, what is up with this girl?
Things to Watch For
3 mins-RANDOM GRATUITOUS BREAST SHOT!
4 mins-Pretty pale skin for living in a jungle her whole life.
14 mins-Now this is a shirt.
18 mins-That's a pretty small barrel for a .44 Magnum, maybe it's a 44 Magnum divided by 2?
19 mins-Bunny in one of many outfits, where she keeps them nobody knows.
38 mins-Mallards in a tropical rain forest?
46 mins-Just conjuring up cases of beer huh? But why Old Milwaukee? Ugh.
75 mins-The compound must be right on the international date line, one side is day the other night.

I still say it doesn't get any worse than Entrapment. It lures you in with Sean Connery and Ving Raimes and the hope of some Catherine Zeta Jones booby, plus what seems to be a great story about a thief who uses stealth and all kinds of cool gadgets to steal stuff that's under super high security. And with all that expectation, you go see the movie and feel like you were just the butt of a horrible joke gone wrong. Then, after vomiting up your expensive popcorn and soda, you vow to never again be drawn into a movie that stars Sean Connery and a young woman, and that you now hate Catherine Zeta Jones so much that you don't even wanna see her nekkid.
Dumb and Dumberer, on the other hand, pretty much spells out that it's going to suck from the get go. You go in with no expectations, and if you even get a chuckle out of it, you're ahead of the game. I'll give it a watch though, because I'm a movie masochist, and to see if I'm wrong.

Yikes. After reading a few reviews of the movie it looks like MiniD is right . The only thing anybody says is good about the movie is The actor that plays Lloyd's imitation of the Lloyd character in the prequel .
Doesn't anybody make original movies anymore ? Ya know, not a remake, or a prequel, or a sequel, or a movie about a cartoon or comic book ? Man how many years has it been since someone made a good movie ?

There are three types of bad movies:
1. Cult classics. Different, quirky - appealing to some, bad to others. Rocky Horror, Repo Man, perhaps Tank Girl...
2. B-fest/MST3k bad. - They are bad but unintentionally quite funny. Any Ed Wood movie, Godzilla 2000, Cool as Ice, No Holds Barred, Glitter, Pearl Harbor (only for the history buff, just plain bad otherwise)... For TV you can even add celebrity boxing to the list.
http://www.b-fest.com/
3. Bad. No redeeming qualities. Any Tom Green movie. The Sweetest Thing (ARRGH!) The most recent one that jumps to mind would be Adaptation (if I wanted to watch self-serving, self-important performance art I would go downtown and pay to watch some tool shoot **** all over the audience while he bleeds on stage).

Ghost Ship...take a decent plot, add obscure actors and Gabriel Bryse from another stinker(End of Days), put in a few ghosts and a creaky ship, then throw everything down the hole with a crappy plot twist. I sat there for about 5 mins after the movie thinking "Um, where's the scare factor", half expecting a violent scream to burst out of the credits. 2 F00Ts down.
-
"Night of the Lepus", or some such title. Dozens of giant, blood thirsty rabbits terrorize a small town and eat people.
Gotta be the worst sci-fi movie ever. It's only saving grace is the absurdity of the theme, which compels viewers to watch it.
Another movie so bad, it's a must see is "Motel Hell." Farmer Brown and his frumpy missus operate a motel and smoke house. Out back is a garden with more than veggies planted there. As the label on the smoked sausage says, "All kinds of critters go into Farmer Brown's fritters." Suppose this one is what you'd call a cult classic.
While perhaps not the worst, these are examples of movies so bad, they're actually entertaining.

Battlefield Earth wasn't a bad movie. I enjoyed most of it. The only part that really didn't make sense was how they taught the horse riding savages to fly Harriers in a few days using a simulator.
