It takes so long to build up perk points for the less skilled pilots like me...........then you get enough to up a fast jet - the infamous 262. You fly with real care --- so you don't loose it but even then you can find yourself going down in flames :D
I have lost two, really expensive, 262s. Both due to stupidity. The first one I lost --- was diving to straff a VH (yup going after ack in a 262 :D ) Went in too fast and pulled up too hard and lost my wings
Second time - last night - went in for an easy kill. Lots of enemy fighters were attacking a nearby base, and they were pretty unconcerned because of their superior numbers. So I up a 262, and did a little BnZ. Well after missing a few times, I decided to go the distance. So I dived on a low fighter, and grinned ear to ear when I noticed he wasn't turning. I decided that I would go as close as possible to him so I wouldn't miss. Well I approached so fast that when I shot him, I also flew into him. Perk points gone
Well that was me.
So how did you lose your 262
-
Wife came downstairs while landing, started to talk to me (actually asking questions and expecting answers, so I couldn't just ignore her and go ... uh huh), ran off the runway and crashed.

Lol, i flew around for ages being careful, missed a couple of easy chances, looked at my fuel, and noticed it was real low, so i decide to rtb, approached the runway at about 200mph and didnt even put my gear down, DUH DUH, and hit the deck.
-
jeez.. which one? LOL
i can count @ least 10 i lost to running into pieces of planes i shot down. :(
another 10 to pulling too many positive or negative G's
countless to some HO dweeb that i could not avoid.
LOL :D
i still remember my first 262 lost though. was on Mindanao map in the north east. i was about 28k and chasing a pony. for some reason i couldnt catch him. he was headed towards our HQ i believe and seemed to be the only enemy deep in our territory. after about 10 min chasing him at that alt i got bored and broke off (i never got within 4.5k of the pony)
i reversed my direction to south towards enemy territory to find something to kill. all of a sudden i see tracers going past my cockpit  i immedatly dove an started rolling. looked back to see an f4u about d600 back and closing
i saw him get to about d450 and i was in the tower. :( i never found out where he came from but that pony was like 2.5k behind him and obviously had called the f4u in to help clear him.
the lesson i learned? NEVER fly the 262 above 20k unless you have to. toooooo many planes up there can match your speed. also if you dive out you risk pulling the wings off alot more than they do (they wont lose perks).
ever since i have tried to keep the 262 below 15k if i can. se REALLY shines down there :D (watch fester fly it... he barely gets above 5k LOL)

so what kind of alimony did she get inthe divorse? :D
-
First time:
Cockpit: "That Mustang is too far away and I'm in a 262. He'll never catch me."
Second time:
Cockpit: "Hey, this thing is really picking up speed..."
Auto Alarm: "Exceeding airframe tolerances. Reduce speed."
Auto Alarm: "Proximity ground alert. Pull up. Pull up."
Cockpit: "What the...."
Another time:
Tower: "GoFaster Air, you are cleared for final approach."
Cockpit: "Tower, GoFaster Air, I'm too fast. Will have to abort landing. Requesting clearance for go around."
Tower: "Roger, GoFaster Air. You are clear. Beware of mountain at end of runway."
Automatic proximity alarm: "Pull up. Pull up."
Cockpit: "C'mon baby, c'mon baby."
Most recently:
Tower: "GoFaster Air, you are cleared for final."
Cockpit: "Roger, Tower, GoFaster Air on final."
Tower: "Looking good, GoFaster Air. Speed and altitude favorable. Approach is off-center. Please correct."
Cockpit: "Huh? Ok, bringing her in on final."
Cockpit: "Aw, no! Ok, maybe I can save this."
Tower: "Welcome to A76, GoFaster Air. Proceed to Terminal B."
Cockpit: "Roger, Tower."
:D

LOL. I didn't even let on, except I got a bit short with my answers. I didn't want her laughing at me for getting all worked up over crashing my little computer plane :)

Last couple times I upped a 262 I fell victim to what I can only assume were broken airframes, except I was going under 400mph - an easy flat turn in one instance - and I know I wasn't pulling high G's. No explosion, no looking out the cockpit at my missing wingtips, not even a prox kill for enemies that were close by. Just right back to the tower and 'You have crashed.' I haven't taken up a 262 in quite a while because of this.
-
The last one I lost I was coming around with flaps out and gear down on one engine and the inbalanced thrust pushed me over into a stall and I went into the ocean.
The most embarassing was when I compressed and augered while going for a C-47A. Fortunately for my stated record somebody else was closer and the C-47 didn't get a proximity kill on my 262.
-
LOL many good stories here :D
Mine is about the same lost about 20 262s in augering, landing speed to high cause having to do it quick, coming in on target to fast and collides, break wings in to hard manouvers lol the list is long.
But yet not never been shoot down in it :D
The only good sorties i had is when perk is low and i didnt bother if i lost it or not, flying low and fast and goon hunting.

I'm 4 for 4 landing, i still have a story tho (Edit) meaning i havent lost one in ma yet.
Was Pizza, i upped a 262 to buzz the conga line streaming into a base, while iw was harrassing the planes otw there, i guess i missed a goon, field got taken.. so i stayed around hoping to pick off some more unawares, 15 some minutes later, 2 more bases were taken, putting me a good 2 and a half sectors behind nme lines, so i started to make my way home (had to go over the wrinkle in the slice) So i was going about 475, only main fuel tank left, and i come across a Temp, 5k above me.. I started sweatin at that point, this Temp obviously having seen me, begins his dive at me, i go full throttle, hoping to escape, but he closes quickly, must've been going 550 and still diving.. I'm almost to the wrinkle, a canyon a mile or two ahead, Temp D1.6 and closing.
My heart's racing now, this is my first 262 you see, Temp closing, D800.. I finally make it to the canyon and dive in, hitting 600mph as i GENTLY turn near the bottom of the crevasse, speeding along it.. I look back and see the temp smack into the canyon wall.. I go NOE, calming down and grinnin' wider than i ever had in the game, still had 3 sectors to go, unbeknownst to me at the time, perk hunters goin to wait at my base. tank 75%, lasting much longer than i expected it to. I make it out the otherisde of the wrinkle without a scratch, see the dar so i end up going 2 bases back behind friendly lines, apply full rudder, full flaps, no dar in my area, touchdown rather roughly halfway down the runway and 180 mph, deathgrip on the stick applying full brakes, stop about a yard from the end of the runway - and a cliff.
You have landed successfully.
I logged immediately after to take a cold shower.
:D
Never has a game been more exciting for me!
-
I spot lower 38.
'I go diving down'
I zoom right past the guy for a near-supersonic dirt nap.
-
I was flying around looking for some one not paying attention when I saw a A6M5. I nosed it over and headed for him.. As Im closing in he spots me and turns right for me. " No way I'll lose a HO against a .........WHAM WHAM WHAM........uh oh" I look behind me expecting to see an engine trailing smoke when I noticed she aint exactly flying right anymore. Damage check reveals that I no longer have a vertical stabilizer. I tumbled to the ground and felt the shame . I logged off and have never spoke of it again:D

BigIsles, 206 area.
Bored I`m thinking, what the hell, it`s 262 time.
Fly around aimlessly going on and on on squad channel about how it`s like an angel pushing, whoever said that etc.
Arrive at angrily buzzing bish field, and in perfect style I nose down in a gentle dive, airframe cranking, 600+ mph, nail a LA7.
Immelman over - there`s a N1K chasing a countrymate. I`m in...
Hold still N1K, hold still. All your world is the friendly 190. It won`t be painful at all. Now open wide...
I plaster him with 30mms at 500yds...
why doesn`t he disintegrate ?
A wing rips off him... right in my flight path... oh my... SCRANG there goes my left wing and 250K Reichsmark.
-
LOL - I don't feel so bad now. Oh look - 262 at 160 pts now - guess I'll up another one.......................... ........
-
Like I usually lose perk planes - DISCO!!!!!!!!
=Grrrrrr

Lost the most on the " Is Wax drunk enough yet" 262 "Fly it like ya stole it " missions. Sometimes ya have to beg him to put one up.
Other than that would have to be, use it and bail instead of going through the ten minute slow down and land process.
You always feel sorta cheesey when your in one but it`s fun sometimes just for the Halibut. :D
-
Try having a bit of lag on runway...trying to figure out whats wrong...attempt to clear guns "unclear" of why LAG is slowing stick response...then
BAM! "TOWER"
Killshooter into some dweeb's mission who decides to up from MY field in peace and quiet...
NICE...REAL NICE
:D

Ahh fresh in the mind, I was on Pizza map and a few squaddies and I were tooling around killing up urbMAW and Knights when we started to get low on fuel and the enemy were beginning to overwhelm us, so we RTBed.
I see my 2 wingmen land perfectly and I buzz the tower and their resting spot in a fit of bravado. Pulling up in a hard left turn spooling down engines I line up to land. Turning my head to keep an eye out for any enemies I notice that I am slightly off line with the runway.
Radio Transmission:
sancho: Hey lefty you're nowhere near the runway
LftF00t: rgr I know but who needs a runway when all the terrain is the same.
LftF00T: see I do this all the time
sancho: Hey lefty it doesnt look like you're slowing down
LftF00t: $!% this thing just doesn't slow...what is this runway doing on a cliff?!!?
LftF00t: Maybe i'll use the runway next time
56thFG: Good idea.
:D

I don't think that a way to break a plane exists which I haven't tried with the 262.
This includes but is not limited to failed takeoffs, strafing ostwinds, hoing bombers at 600 mph, ripping wings and turnfighting zeros. And, of course, discos.
-
Funniest time i had was landing 262 perfectly on runway slow down and let up off brakes for some unknown reason...go to push brakes again hit B! button (secondary fire btw:D ) and hit a friendly spit right in it's nose....instantly in tower a p*ssed off i erase that button and any other fire button for keyboard:D
So far this tour though i'm 16-0...not a great feat in itself but i hardly every fly it

But don't let the "dumb" act fool ya. They know exactly what they're doing.
Picture renting a "mistress's apartment" and having a "poker night" twice a week ... and the P.I. she hires to investigate comes back with covert pictures of you playing AH through a crack in the curtains.

Split-Sed one time to attack a Bf110. Must have gone supersonic because I dove straight into the ocean.
Cart-wheeled landing a 1-engine 262.
Tried to land an elevator-less 262, exploded on runway doing 250mph.
I'm suprised no one has posted any stories about getting shot down by P47s. Seems like every time I up a P47 a 262 tries to engage me. Sometimes I get lucky and nail a few 'swallows'.

Another 262 kill story:
had seen 3 262 buzzing the base we were trying to take from our cv, so after landing again, I up a new jet killer, i choose the mighty f4f for this as everyone knows its renowned for its high speed.
After taking off i spend a while spiralling up the mighty engine purring like a lawnmower.
once enough alt has been achieved i set off on my 262 quest, after seeing nothing for a while i see on the map what looks like a friendly with 2 nme about 8 miles from the base isolated so i head over to assist, unfortunatley I'm to late and one nme remains on the map when i get to the last reported position of my fellow pilot i see 5k below me is a low slow 262 :D
tut tut tut how silly HEHE :D
I dive on him and he has no escape (I'm quite surprised by the high speed handling of the f4f, i get on his tail at d200 and his plane is now in tiny bits.
Bliss :)
p.s. I've also done the approach on 1 engine gun the throttle and spin out landing in a 262. (i now shut off the damaged engine before it dies and save it for landing)
-
I think my 1st time consisted of either taking a 262 up with 25% fuel, or diving down on a C47 and hitting the water before i even killed the goon.
-
So I am not that good, right. I don't have that many perks, but once i hit 160 i was geeked to try out the 262. So i find a nice out of the war field to up from, no dar bar, no NME fields nearby, I'm a couple fields deep in Knigh territory even. So I'm sitting on the runway starting my engines and BAM BAM BAM...tower! There just so happened to be an NME P51 flying around this nice, quiet, out of the way base where I could safely fly my shiney new 262. I was a tad upset, and I bet he's laughing his butt off to this day. Anyone else get vulched in a 262? lol

How bout 262 kill stories?
Well, the best 262 kill I've ever made was when i'd joined a mixed-force assault against a field up in the NW corner of the pizza map (A21 or A25, I think); I got sidetracked by GVs upping from the field, and held off the GVs long enough for the VH to get taken down, at the expense of getting tracked. So I wasn't going anywhere.
Well, the attack on the town petered out -- having to drive past the field will do that -- so I was left there about 1500 yards away from the runway, being pretty much ignored by the enemy aircraft, who had other aircraft to shoot down.
Well, with a couple of ranging shots, I discovered that the nearest runway spawn point was just under 1800 yards out, so I sat there and watched. Spitfire pops up. Crank in a touch of lead to allow for it's starting to roll on takeoff, and... *BOOM* Spitfire dies. Fix on that point. F4U and P-47. *BOOM* Two more kills. A-20. *BOOM* Another kill. Then the magic moment; a 262 popped up -- the field now being a layer back from the 'front', it must have felt safe. *BOOM* No more 262. Total 262 flight time, three seconds. I can only imagine what the 262 pilot was saying after spending 200 perks for 3 seconds on the runway, when as far as he could see, the sky was clear of enemy aircraft.
I got eight more long-range vulches before I ran out of ammo, and bailed rather than wait for someone to be stupid enough to wander into range of my pintle or bow machine guns long enough for me to shoot them down. Eighteen kills, not landed, but it did do wonders for my K/D that camp. And I'll never forget watching that 262 explode from a shot he probably never saw.
-
Uhh best 262 kill, and most pleasureable was when i killed a 262 that was landing at a base full of enemy cons and all acks up...
I knew who was behind the 262, i dove down on him from 15k to kill him(good ole fun :D) ... I got him as he was putting his gears on the runway, but sadly i died too after killing him (augered) :p :)
-
Best 262 Kill ever has to be when Me, Oct, and I think Cavalear were flying Yak-9U's and I was pretty good in this plane, didn't really have experience, so we were flying along I was leading the pack and I saw a 262 I was going about 300 he tried a loop and than I looped with him at about D150-50 I flew him into shreds...he blew up behind me I was so close to him. Was pretty awesome. My first 262 flight was when I saw an Ar234 low so I dove you know picking up incredible speed about 700MPH and I tried to pull up for a shot and bam no wings...I was very mad!
-
Also, when I was at my dad's...he never flies perk planes so I figured I would try my luck with rudder pedals and all, so I upped a 262 got pretty high...I got 1 kill on a spit on a great snapshot and than I wanted another kill to land 2 kills, so I dove on another spit, unbenounced to know I was there, I shot him at D200 after he knew he couldn't get away. My dad was pretty impressed. I landed the 2 kills and let my dad fly his dweeb La7!
-
my friend kill 262 in his arado;) thats must pain:D :D
i not remember how many 262 i loose
Once take 262 to kill other 262 voulching around base, we start at 25k and finish in turnfight on the deck. When we trying to outturn each other at low speed, come zeke. I kill 262 and same time zeke kill me;)
Most stiuplid loose of perks was landing without fuel and stop couple feet after runway end:) this is bad luck!
When my friend was living AH , he decide to loose all perks, so we have allmost week flying 262:)
Mostly i loose plane in HO with La7. Funny was we pick up 262 twice when he cost 370 perks and both loose this planes one by one flying low over not de-ack field
who care about perks?;)

Lost 2 ME262s. Crashed them both on landing!
