Title: I won't ever help a countrymate again.
Post by: devious on June 29, 2003, 12:32:52 PM
That's it, I'll watch you die. Too frustrating to always be left alone when I clear someones six.

LOL! I know what you mean... but I just can't resist helping.  I kinda think that not helping is not necessarily the best way to encourage others to help.

Depends on who it is.

there are a few player that I don't think I'd help even if I was sure to get a few kills by doing so.

Anyone of my squadmates, with out a doubt, anyone from my old squad the 412th ditto.

but there are a few problem players out there that just aren't worth it. fortunatly from my experience it's only a small percentage.

I try to always help out regardless of whether I get the same in return or not. Cant say that I'm always on target but at least I try when the opportunity presents itself. To me this game isnt about what anyone else can do for me. It's about what I can do to have more fun and be an asset to the team.

Heh ... that reminds me of a player callin' for help one night. He was about 4k from everyone but three of us rushed to help him. He kept takin' his foe the other way .... we kept rushin' that way. Finally he starts takin' the guy every which a-way and we catch up ... but it was kinda hard to line this squigly feller up. I mean our damsel in distress was wigglin' all over the place and this guy was matchin his every move. Alas, the guy who needed our help died about one second before the guy who shot him down.

You guessed it.

"You guyz suk!"

Awww heck, I ususally try to help out if someone is in need.  I always evaluate the situcation carefully before I commit though.  Sometimes it's not worth it.

I've squeaked to my squaddies a hundred times that I'll never give another 6 call. My resolve never lasts more than 10 minutes. :D

I wish you had stronger resolve. :p

Get on the range vox, tell everybody to "talk it up, give reports, tell us where they are", and lead by example.  I try to do this, and sometimes it helps.  Sometimes it doesn't.

We all get sick of being some countryman's "bait biotch", and I call them on it when I catch them at it.

But the one thing I really HATE is the "High Spit" or "LA-7 low" or "there's a GV over here" calls.  High where?  Over where?  You know what I mean.

A lot of newbies don't try to communicate, but they learned that behavior from the old hands.

I refuse to help people who I don't know at least by name.  The majority of people are happy to make max g break turns while you try and clear thier six, leaving them dead and you with an iffy firing position at best.

I'll give a check six to anyone whose name can be easily pronounced....

I was killed about ten times this weekend as I tensed my trigger finger to open up on someone else.  Some guys sure help out their buddies....AGalland was one of 'em.

I still shoot guys that line up on a coutrymate -

I used to get into 4:1s vs. a countrymate to help out, but in 90% of those cases, the mate chooses to run away and keep it a 4:1 vs. ME.

So far, no loss of resolve.

Sorry Shub but some of us ain't got time to give out map coords everytime a con emerges. I'll give a "Shub ... high Lala" and that'll mean it's prolly over you. ;)

Now if I'm not in a furball, I'll pass on "B17s apx 10k sse A13 inbd" or some such .... but when it comes to calling out what I see when we get mobbed by a dozen enemy (and I'm trying to save my own arse as well) - expect brevity and make do. :D
