just got converted to Comcast from ATTBI..
what losers!
I'm changing to a different service.. and am influencing the people in my town to do the same.. of which there are only hundreds (small town) but I have great influence.
their service sucks,
can't get a person on tech support (live)
can't log in, cant' get email, etc..
cripes. hate paying one company only to have another take over and screw things up even worse!
Don't pay COMCAST !!! they bite

Where exactly are you "snowbound in the hills"?
My town has Comcast for cable service, and I was thinking about getting Comcast Internet soon. Tell me more please.

Just had the same thing happen to me. Was with ATTBI, everything was going great, then get switched to comcast. Not only did rates go up, but had my first actual internet "outage" as the techie explained to me...
One strike so far. Connectivity seems the same, but will have to reserve judgement till more time passes. The only problem for me is that I live in a smaller town and comcast has a virtual monopoly over the cable service...
-
So far so good here, just switched this morning. knock on wood...
BTW Wlfgang did you install the service transfer software ATTBI sent?
-
Boycott cable companies
-
same story here.

Same thing with Adelphia in my area a couple of years ago. Perfectly good local cable company got bought by Adelphia and things sucked for about 12-18 months. Now it's ok. Small towns get screwed by these big company buyouts.

no. I did it manually because I don't want other settings changed.
That isn't the problem. (wasn't) just got of tech support (after 2 hours on hold) and they had my password wrong and had to reset it..
however.
I've had a service outage (never happened with ATTBI)
couldn't get tech support (got disco'd 3 times while on hold)
can't get on the website (traffic I assume)
had to change my domain from ATTBI.com to COMCAST.net
this sucks due to my constituents and clients.
they fubarred my website, let's see.. had enough yet?

Just did the switch ... so far so good.

i worked for comedycast and yes they are a joke, but i get good internet. I know how hard it is to get a live person on the phone but i know the good way in. I've only had one problem with them and it was because i wasnt in there system....{cough cough :D }
but now that i have to pay they have been really good.
i still miss mediaone (comcast bought out mediaone where i live).
i use to do alot of email problems when i worked there plus alot of people here know outlook express. if you have any questions just ask.
-
when comcast switched from mediaone they sent a disk to everyone.... 2 simple problems...the disk installed wrong.. and #2 the disk was made too thin and shattered in everyones cd rom. when i got to work there were 100 people in que waiting to talk to someone. most people were on hold for 2 1/2 hours before they talked to someone. plus when they switched they were pulling an IP from somewhere in japan.....kinda funny.
now that they got everything figured out its been running great for me.
-
just did the auto-switch from att, so far so good. only thing I've had problem with is I'm kinda anoyed that they reset my homepage.
-
They( comedy cast) really jacked up my home page.
MORON'S

So if you guys had to choose between stable 56k dialup, or the only-other-choice-town-monopoly Comcast high-speed internet...?
-
Comcast has been great here........fast service, and the guy actually knew what he was doing. I was getting 700kps-1.0meg downloads, and when the guy left, I was downloading at 1.7meg.
Comcast is ok by me as far as cable companies go........because I use to have @home, and they sucked.

Just got cable out here in the woods finally. Comcast was excellent in customer service and setting me up. I've gone from 225 ms in the MA to 53 ms. Its actually faster than the T1 line at work. Woot! Best part is, I can do a virtual work day from my home office whenever I chose, just signed the paperwork with my boss last week :D
-
I still say they suck.
-
you guys actually let them install software on your PC? Sounds like you are morons too...
Friend of mine let them do that, I ended up having to re-image his machine for him because they bluescreened it. Guess what I didn't install squat and he's up and running...
-
Yeah, what ^he^ said. Never let them install their software on your system. No way, no how. Thats almost like having AOL as a ISP. :D

lmao. no doubt!
I always do it manually...

Just had Comcast cable installed here too. Had to fight with the guy that he wasn't going to install anything on my pc ,told him that I worked with an ISP and can install my connection after he calls in the MAc Id. I finally won out after signing a paper stating I told him not to touch my pc. My cable connection has worked great since. Can't say that for my previous SBC DSL.
Comcasts deal with Giganews servers really sucks. They give you a gig a month free. They state downloading headers wont come outta the gig, yet it still does. There goes my mp3 leeching.
-
yep.. just found out about that.... sigh
